Sounds very similar to The Fox in the Forest Duet, another trick taking game utilising a board and limited communication.

I mean to call the silent coop 2 player game a unique take is not accurate. The game of the year last year was Sky Team by many reviewers and Race to the Raft is also played in mostly silence as well. I also can say Regicide is another excellent coop experience where you play with no communication.
