    I want to let everybody know that it is possible to get off benzos. I am 32 now, and took Klonopin 2mg a day for about 10 years from 17-27ish. Getting off was difficult but I am so glad that I did. I feel FAR less anxious off the benzos than I ever was while on them.

    Most people I’ve encountered after six years going through protracted benzo injury are NOT ADDICTS! I, for example, was given this drug for sleep during a health scare I was working through. I was sick immediately. But my doctor told me no, couldn’t be the drug. Took me five months to figure it out. Please stop relating it all to addiction. Maybe some. Most of us were under the care of a doctor taking our medication as prescribed 🤦‍♀️

      Same here my methadone clinic made me get off my kpins and he totally told me that I can get off them by taking clonidine and I would feel like crap for about a month. He didn't say anything about seizures. Once I finally was off benzos I was ok but then I got my first real job in a while and I'd be getting panic attacks out of nowhere causing me to have to leave work and go to the ER and they didn't do anything. What's so wrong with taking a pill that takes away your anxiety, relaxes you, and makes you get things done, as compared to not taking them. I could stop taking vistaril, gabapentin, and Zoloft if I was just prescribed Klonopin again. I can't even talk to the doctors here in Cleveland like you can talk to Dr B. He makes you feel comfortable and don't judge you cause he actually understands the effects of being on these benzos for years. I wish I can have him as a doctor.

    Thank you l, thank you so much for mentioning that it’s very important to pay attention to what’s happening during pregnancy and how it affects further the child and later on an adult. Well, in the US healthy pregnant women have to work, like horses, almost until the time of their first contraction. One of my colleagues actually drove herself to the hospital while having light contractions. How about society needs to start respecting pregnancy as vital for healthy society, including it’s effect on addiction?

Any true place to look for true understanding and help. Va told me I could just stop taking I'll be okay which I know isn't right. Dr. B please respond: what is the true conversion from Alprazolam to Diazepam. The Ashton Manual and the official UK NHS guidelines say it's 1mg Alpra for 20 mg Diaz, but in my country the officials say its 1 mg Alpra for only 10mg Diaz. That's a massive difference. One could underdose me, the other give me a higher dose again. Thanks.

I wake up and no brain and know that I can't do anything but suffer and fight against suicidal thoughts and can't believe that my brain doesn't work and fear tapering because I have been on low doses and had insomnia and puking. Now I have heavy sleep medication 200 mg of quetapine and 20 mg of temazepam and those are going to go lower too but my doctor says first we have to get rid of diazepam. But I know temazepam is causing also anxiety and depression, benzo after all and my doctor admits that quetiapine is too high and I tapered it from 300 mg to 200 mg in the beginning of this third time of tapering. She had to put me on those because I didn't sleep for half year just 0-3 hours a night.
      Do you have to isolate and is it difficult to have normal conversation to you? I can't speak anything but this and can't help it. Can't see my partner because of that. I'm constant fight or flight state and panic.

    Great for helping people, but saying to a 50-60 year old woman that adding opiates on top of benzos is a good idea is at best bad advice and worst just plain cruel.

    Dr.s doing a great job taking neutral position and being carefull on recommandations. I guess, i'm no doctor.
    Now regarding patients.
    The obvious is that BENZO ARE THE PROBLEM UH ? I'm under the impression that everyone is blaming ONE thing where in fact there could be thousands things going on... taking the exemple of Heather, no offense to here (+good job getting into helping other addicts!) : Medication, overweight (again no offense, that goes in pair with medication), low excerise, pale skin probably no sunlight and/or poor diet and so on.
    About those thousand things that could go on at this woman health and pain could be diabeties, or high insluin resistance. Or really anything else, gout, permanent muscle tensions from abilify akathisia, blablabla.. really have to take things with a athlete discipline paired with an artist creativity.

    No taper! Go to rehab and do the work. Tapering only prolongs the hell. It never worked for me.

      no taper from benzos? thats a one way trip to neurological injury, or a potentially fatal seizure. each to their own i guess.

    • @CBT5777
      @CBT5777 Před rokem +1

      @@lean6am795 Most of the people who taper still have neurological damage. The damage is caused by the drug, not the withdrawal. I went to rehab. Got clean in 23 days no taper. They put me on non-benzo anti-seizure meds. Yes, it was hell, but I didn't die. And I didn't have to taper alone for years with the constant threat of accidentally rekindling and having to start all over again. I tried tapering many times over a decade and it never worked for me. Rehab saved my life! They also taught me life coping skills that help me through my issues. I'm almost 2 years clean today!

      That is beyond spectacular... over a decade and then off in 23 days, fair play to you. I've never heard anything quite as extreme as that, how the heck were you even getting benzos for over a decade?

      If you really have neropapathy after taken the gabapentin and stopping your symptoms will be so much worst as far as if using the medicine as a "high" I can not speak on

    • @lorenyokem7772

      I know that when you are in a detox program, depending on what you are abusing, they use gabapentin for the withdrawals

      @themapsarewrongandthetimel8722 Před 2 lety +1

      I have been thru Gabapentin withdrawal several times in the last 5 years. For me, there was definitely some symptoms which mimicked sort of mild opiate withdrawal...anxiety, general aches, sweating, restless legs. Never lasted more than 72 hours in my experience, but it may be dose dependent. Probably best to titrate your dose down as low as possible before attempting to stop altogether.
