- It has been more than 25 years since the premiere of the HBO mega hit series, The Sopranos. In total there were 86 individual episodes, and there is a reason that The Sopranos is widely viewed as the greatest television series of all time, and while the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, all of those parts were damn good on their own, the average being far, far superior for even most prestige shows.
So what were the Top 25 episodes during the long and illustrious history of the HBO mega hit series, The Sopranos? This video will provide a Top 25 countdown that attempts to answer that question.

The Sopranos - Top 25 Episodes Ranked - Zábava
Hits hard when you mentioned it premiered 25 years ago. It’s always a bit of a trip when you rewatch a show from yesteryear and you realize that you’re now older than the character who was 20 years your senior when it was in its prime.
Perfectly expressed, good sir. And, if you’ll forgive me for being direct, the sheer depth of humanity that you’ve managed to imbue your comment with betrays your username… 😉
1) it’s safe to say your words are *not* the product of a ‘foolish’ mind (what 19th-century British folk commonly referred to as ‘tom foolery’…)
2) the irony of ‘Tom the Austere’ publicly sharing an honest, introspective piece of himself is masterful.
In all sincerity, I completely understand the Uber-trip that Time and Mortality take us on, and certain special times in our younger years (such as the magical summer I binge-watched the entire Sopranos series. I had never experienced that level of television before.
And now I’m older than Tony.
Just like you. 🫣
its also interesting the parallel between the godfather malon brando slapping the guy for crying in the movie, and johnny sack the boss himself crying in the show
People cry?
I will always love how in “Whoever Did This” Ralph is the first and only person to finally call Tony out on his hypocrisy, and ends up dying to Tony’s ego.
Something I just noticed in this video, is that “Employee of The Month” is the elaboration and culmination of the theme of true Justice that was first introduced in “Boca” about the mob justice towards The Soccer Coach and then Artie Bucco of all people try and do the moral thing and talk Tony out of not killing him. Brilliant.
Any list that doesn’t just throw pine barrens at number 1 is a good list. Amour Fou is criminally underrated tho
20 years I spent waiting for your next Sopranos upload. Not a peep.
this generation...
Excellent video and lovely montage at the end. Also big shout out to the season 1 episode "Boca", the ending where Tony gets drunk and says "I didn't hurt nobody" easily the most emotionally impactful ending to an episode in the series for me.
"Kennedy and Heidi" Top 5 at minimum ;)
I disagree entirely
@@batgurrl lots of correct answers imo -- have u seen this? czcams.com/video/C6aaQKNqWgY/video.html
In any show, episodes where one of the central characters get killed, tend to get overrated in the scheme of things. It's a lucky break in a show with rotating directors to get a character death on you directing episode. With that said I don't know how I would rate "Kennedy and Heidi". I enjoyed the episode and I've seen the series multiple times around, but I'd really have to closely analyze the various episodes to see where it belongs. Long Term Parking is knee jerkingly one of my favorite episodes, but I don't know to what degree Adriana's death alone plays on my bias. It's certainly a good episode on it's own. It poses a lot of questions in Chris's overall journey as well as Tony's.
Ed & Nadine are in the Fallout TV show! Eyepatch 'n all!
Someone mentioned something similar. Haven't gotten around to watching it yet, but intend to do so.
I enjoyed this very much. Thanks 😊
Well done, so many great episodes means this would have been difficult. For me Whitecaps is my favourite. The pinnacle of cable tv imo.
My Top 5 THE SOPRANOS Episodes :
5. 'College'
4. 'Another Toothpick'
3. 'Whoever Did This'
2. 'Pine Barrens'
1. 'Funhouse'
I have never understood the hype behind the pine barrens
pretty much love any video you produce. great work as always, good editing, and love your personal voice/humor in the narration. also - you don't need to be on camera yourself like all these other narcissistic youtubers who get popular and think it's about THEM! keep the video on the content, not a talking head - you're a classic and and the best, thanks for focusing on quality rather than ego or patreon shoutouts or sponsor bits.
Great list
👌🏾⭕️👍🏾
Hahaha! Really enjoyed your quality presentation and witty asides, keep it up Sir. 👍☘️
Thank you very much. Cheers!
Wow Lynch... Ya know I'm itching for more uploads!
The Blue Comet is probably in my top 5 of the series, but I couldn’t imagine it being the finale. Not seeing Phil get popped would’ve been a huge downer for me.
ive been enjoying your content on the sopranos, i only just finished watching the series for the first time a few weeks ago myself. do you think youll make a future video going in depth on the ending? id be interested to hear what you have to say about it
Thank you very much. At some point, I may go into more depth on the ending, or perhaps the final season itself.
Awesome list for the best TV drama of all time. I totally agree with your top 5, despite many lists putting Pine Barrens in the top spot, but your narrative convinced me. I love Whitecaps too, because of it’s obvious drama.
I still remember how mesmerized I was watching the scenes between Tony and Carm in Whitecaps. Powerful stuff.
Blue Comet was so well executed onscreen and has long remained my favorite episode.
Cheers! :)
32:52 - you missed the "holding out on me", over tic-tacs!
Sausage necklace- Lol.
..the government says I can't leave the house, and my family keeps me sedated.
Amour Fou you stunad
Guilty as charged. That's an awesome episode, and one that probably gets underrated and a little overlooked because it immediately followed Pine Barrens.
everyone be sure to click like and support the channel, for a decade he has remained top quality without ever being a sponsor sellout or becoming an narcissistic ego trip. He never bothers us for BS like 99percent of other analysis youtubers - support him and do your part if you've been watching for years like I have, the like count is WAY lower than I know us regular fans truly number.
Thank you very much for the kind words. Cheers!
I’ve only watched the first 45 seconds but I’m here to just tell you that you’re wrong. Idk why yet, but I’ll tell you when I’m done 🎉
You did not say why
My top 10
10. The knight in white satin armor
9. Funhouse
8. Long term parking
7. Whoever did this
6. Pine Barrens
5. Soprano home movies
4. Stage 5
3. College
2. Made in America
1. Whitecaps
Garcia is going to pull it off
He did it!
He sure did!
Peace! Wow Lynch University didn’t make the cut? That episode haunted me for years…excellent writing and brutal imagery…thanks..
23:43 Another important detail about this scene is that Christopher also sees the kids within the family. You can see him contemplating on his current lifestyle and the life of the poor family, and then he realizes it is at least a "family", which he will always lack with Ade - because she can't have children. I believe that was the moment he made his decision.
Whitecaps was always my favourite 😊
I had no fucking clue that Rummy's Corner had a Movie Channel! I could listen to Rummy read the Dictionary with that voice and accent! I subbed and I'm now excited to see what all Movies you've talked about. I already watched your video on "The Shining" lets see what else we got here!
I love the order Lynch. Its perfect, one thing though, a Don doesnt wear shorts.
Need the episode college on this list
Feech got arrested for TVs people get for free now
Long term parking the most memorable
Peace! “The Knight in White Satin Armor” was amazing Lynch…uncanny writing..
Rummy is that you?
3:10...That underhanded toss of the Cleaver mug proves once and for all, Tony is no varsity athlete.
25:58 Damn, Carmela is looking good.
agree, this is the best look of her for me in the entire show
I’m probably the only person who doesn’t like Commendatori lol I always skim through it on rewatches
As the narrator of this channel said (Sopranos is great as a whole as opposed to merely the sum of it's parts)... I've watched the Sopranos numerous times around in binge fashion so it's challenging for me to separate it based on episodes. Episodes where significant things happen such as main character deaths tend to get a bias from much of the public for that reason because it's something easy to latch onto to pin point a particular episode. In a show with rotating directors it's always a big break to get an episode with a central character death. Of course Pine Barron's pulled it off with great humor and then many of us will think of the Chris intervention episode as having one of the funniest moments of the show (I'd be curious to analyze that episode as a whole in terms of it's ranking). White Caps for it having possibly the best acting from Carmella and Tony combined with it being the longest episode. However as a general rule... all shows including the greats like the Sopranos and Breaking Bad... I tend to dislike the married couple fight/split divorce scenes/episodes. Something about it isn't entertaining for me and it's typically my least favorite sections within excellent shows. But in the sopranos I still really appreciate the acting in the big fight scene in White caps.
Thanks for not putting Pine Barrens at #1. I love the episode a lot but it is definitely a little overhyped. It's a great standalone episode that I love to introduce people to the show with.
But side note I swear if I hear "Guy was an interior decorator" "His house looked like shit" crack one more time from somebody who watches the show I'll lose it. There's 1000 lines that are funnier in the show idk why that's seen as the only joke popularly highlighted in the sopranos or even that episode
I always skip that episode.
I wanted to watch a compilation by borko...
I compromised...
I watched Rummy rank his top 25.
22:29 She must have crawled under Christafuh for warmth, okay? Simple as that.
If Jr. Can't Bone Bobbi Sanfillipo. He screws a fencepost.😮
You kinda said it at the end, but.....
you missed every other episode!!!
People love to throw down Sopranos quotes in various comment sections and many/some of them are painfully cliche', but I I get a kick out of the scene where Chris mugs lauren bacall and she says "my f__kin arm". That one is worthy of a quote every now and then, but no one ever does. I misquoted it for the longest time and I prefer my misquote more... i thought she said "my f__kin eye", which I think is a tad funnier than my arm, but still funny nonetheless. This was from Luxury Lounge which was 12th on this list.
Muscles Marinara. 😂
When your coach turns into a pumpkin 🎃 you gotta cry.😢
Borkos gonna hear about thish
brilliant list…i’m hemorrhaging sponjolics ova here….
The one with the bear.
Hugh De Angelis ❤LOVES Virginia Mayo.❤😊
rummys corner!!
yeah
I enjoyed this Interesting list! I cant pick a fav episode only that I think the show only got better as it went on. My favorite line from the series is “His apartment looked like shit!” LOL
It’s great to hear you agree the ending’s ambiguity was not symbolic of Tony’s death but a device to allow a future installment of the Sopranos, where Tony would presumably be alive. We discussed this a while back. I interpret this as proof Tony lives on. Chase or VanZant also said VanZant asked Chase to keep Silvio’s fate ambiguous in the event of a future installment, which persuaded Chase. So this was possibility obviously loomed large in how Chase ended things. Also, Chase admitted he deeply resented the expectation & pressure on him to kill Tony in the end. So I think the ambiguity also served to allow Chase to defy this pressure, let Tony live, yet avoid the backlash.
Of course, Gandolfini’s premature death makes another installment undesirable if not impossible. Strange, but for me his death deeply changed how I remember the show - it’s as if Tony did die in some tragic way because Gandolfini died. A great loss, it’s very sad.
I never realized how hot carmella was
I wouldve made sure that Tony mulched his roses with what was left of that rossi p.o.s.
12:30 compromise?
Chris had Land Rover not hummer
College is top three. Funhouse in top ten.
Im in awr of you
Gonna go on a limb, and say Pine Barrens #1 . But I think it's a little over rated.
That’s what we call millicco hence the horn 😆 super superstitious much?
nah, pine barons was number 1, duh
No Isabella??? No Mikey Palmice???!!! Gtfo!!
Most overrated series in History! 👎
Wow what makes the sopranos overrated in your opinion? That’s a very hot take that I respect but I definitely would like to hear it more in depth
@@raymondsims7042 fair enough, boring episodes! It happens when these producers get fame then they over think and lose the plot. Just like Breaking Bad and how lame it became. “Pine Barrens” the only real good episode in my opinion.
@@playinragz8183 oh lol so breaking bad is also overrated in your opinion?😂😂lmao and this is simply due to you thinking some episodes are “boring”🤔every episode can be completely action packed or fast paced lad
@@raymondsims7042 breaking bad after season two was boring and the star aka Jesse, stoner character was lost. And yes Sopranos overrated and BB disapointing.
What? Breaking bad four and five are the two of the best and most entertaining seasons of tv ever😂😂that’s a crazy take. Sopranos is also one of the best shows ever
Peace! Bergen County’s Finest strikes again..I’ll never forget that cut to Black in “Made In America” 😂…I sat in my Brooklyn apartment; with my then fiancée in disbelief 🫢 Fabulous upload Lynch; Peace Out..
