- After spending a few relaxing nights in Rio Dulce, it's time for us to travel to the Livingston, a small town on the Carribean coast of Guatemala. Although not the typical mode of transportation in Guatemala (Livingston is only accesible by boat!), we wanted to give you a glimpse into what travel days look like for us!

Hi! We are Eric and Sarah, a couple of Canadians currently travelling around Central America. We’ve been married since 2017 but have known each other since we were only 6 years old! During our last year of university, we spent 4 months in Honduras on a semester abroad and fell in love with Latin America. Since then, we began planning and saving to do an extensive Latin America tour. 2020 delayed those plans by half a year but during this time stuck in BC, we explored a new hobby (like everyone in the pandemic) of videography and photography. We are now using our new skills to document our adventures around South and Central America. Our desire through these videos is to provide helpful and inspiring content for other travelers while also showing people around the world how beautiful Latin America truly is! I am an architect originally from Guatemala but living in Annapolis Maryland and have enjoyed a lot all the videos from your travels in Guatemala (lived the Tikal- Flores one but most of all I like the appreciation you have for Guatemala, the people, food, the landscape and culture. A friend and I went for a mini-vaca and loved Mompiche.
We did a Jungle tour, saw the Howler Monkeys but also did a combination tour of the mangroves and Isla Portete.

Travels days are a bit hectic! It can be a bit more challenging recording!! Love the form of transportation!! So cool we would definitely do that. Omg did I see a school bus 🚌 we can definitely bring our home on wheels there!! Kenny and I learned to enjoy Travel days. It is part of the adventure!! A beer was definitely needed. Love the views by the bar. And the boat ride my favorite! It totally reminds us of Galapagos Trip. So happy you Guys made it! Enjoy 😊

Hola chicos, thank you so much for showing the beauty of my beauty country. If you can visit punta de manabique, you are relatively close.
I would recommend you to go to Lake Atitlan, its one of the most beautiful lakes in the world surrounded by volcanos, lovely towns that you can visit by bus, and or boat. Very different from town to town and also very similar. Hard to explain 😆
Fun fact, the garifunas came from the Caribbean Island Saint Vincent.
Another place to visit is the market in Chichicastenango and if you can, you can also climb a volcano. Volcan de Agua or volcan de Pacaya.

3 questions - would you be doing this if you were not together, how far does the dollar stretch there, and how do you find places to stay?
Hi Renee. We'll do our best to answer your questions:
1. We're assuming your asking if we'd be travelling, even if solo? (not about whether we'd be making videos alone?). If so, the answer is yes. We both love to travel and would feel safe travelling in Guatemala specifically alone. We've met lots of solo travelers who have had no issues :)
2. Prices in Guatemala range significantly depending on your style of travel so it's really hard to say exact costs. Antigua, Lake Atitlan and Flores are definitely the more expensive places to stay/eat, but also have some of the nicest accommodations and restaurants. We find transportation more expensive than other countries but the shuttles are always very nice and comfortable so worth the slightly extra cost! We'd say it's easy to travel on a budget in Guatemala, but maybe harder on a "shoestring" budget, if that makes sense?
3. Airbnb, blogs with recommendations and then just asking people we meet! (sometimes sites like hostelworld or booking.com but we usually avoid them because of additional costs and try book directly through places we stay).

I stayed at the hotel next door to Casa Rosada, (Posada El Delfín) but we always went there for breakfast. They had the best coffee ever. If ever I go back to Livingston, Casa Rosada will be where we stay. It rained a bit when we were there, czcams.com/video/vZMjaCYXaog/video.html but we still had a fantastic time. I would recommend visiting for the Easter celebrations

Im going with my husband to Guatemala in November 2022. Tikal, Antigua & Atitlan. Hot or cold? Any other advice?
Very hot in Tikal. Worth it to bring a sweater and pants for Antigua and Atitlan. Antigua and Atitlan have more spring-like weather. Always between 20-25 Celsius (68-77F) during the day, but the evenings can be a bit cooler.
