In the end we all have different preferences. Teryx is a good machine. How fast a side by side goes has absolutely nothing to do with how good of a machine it is. Definition of a good machine is how far you can go without breakdowns. If I had to fix or replace something every other time I took it out I would get rid of it. There are two brands on the market that would never in a million years get a dime of my money. I currently own a pioneer 1000. Absolutely pleased with it. I would never buy something just becuase it's faster and to he'll with quality. A friend of mine has a Teryx he's had for about 4 years. He just had a spark plug go out. About a month ago. That's the only problem he has had. I say that's a good machine. On the other hand I have another friend who has a maverick. He has spent more than 2 thousand on it in two years keeping it running. I choose quality. And research before you buy. Unless your just filthy rich.

Randy White I had my first real SxS experience last month in the Black Hills with a rented Teryx 4. The rental operator had a fleet of Teryx 4s and some 6-seat Yamahas, presumably he was all about reliability and operating costs, so that's all he had in his fleet.

Great points. I've had no issues with my '18 Can Am Maverick Trail 1000. It isn't the fastest or the most plush, but the 50 inch width provides tons of advantages on trails and two tracks, and it's really fun.

Can-am and Polaris are pushing the limits of how much power you can squeeze out of a 1000cc limit. Of course they are going to be less reliable. That should make common sense to most people in this hobby. A Honda Civic is also more reliable than a Porsche.....but I would still rather have the Porsche. The pioneer is a great reliable vehicle. But as this entire hobby is about "recreation" the Maverick is insanely more fun. So if you are measuring in Smiles per Hour, no Honda anywhere is ever gonna get the vote.

Stephen that was a great review - very comprehensive! I really enjoy watching your ATV videos because you cover so much. You're not just making advertisements like some other ATV reviews I see on CZcams. You actually cover all the important issues that people want to know about. This is my new favorite ATV review channel. I LOVE that you mention both US AND Canadian prices!
An ATV riding buddy of mine had a 2015 Teryx-4 for a few years and just traded it in on a 2 seat machine because both his kids moved out. While he had it, it was a great machine. I was amazed at the trails he could follow me through on my ATV. It was generally tough as nails but he hated the 80 km/h (50 mph) speed limiter, which was a big reason he bought another brand machine recently. 80 km/h might sound fast, unless you drive fire roads often with your ATV buddies like we do, then you're constantly at the back trying to keep up.

For those of you who do not like to be limited to 50 mph...get a box from Dynatek like I did and ride up into the 60s. I also would recommend getting a full skid plate. I have a 1/2" UHMW plastic skid that completely covers the bottom way better than the stock skid does; that thing is junk and doesn't do a good job. I had a stick shoot through my rear floor board on mile number 9 of my new wheeler's first ride. Then I added a winch, a EMP windshield, side and rear mirrors, and rear bumper.

That machine basically has the same engine and straight cut gear drivetrain of the original Kawasaki early 2000 model Prairie 650. I owned the first year Prairie 700...They were really good engines and defied what the hp numbers said,,it felt like more. They were always quick out of the hole up through the midrange leaving even many sport quads behind at the time up to 50mph at least, then the would flatten out in the power curve just like the Teryx. I even had the same issues of engine heat on my one leg on that Prairie 700 something fierce...I remember though whenever we got to an unfamiliar hillclimb. Me and Kawasaki were always the first to try it..Everybody said if that P700 doesn't make it nothing will...lots of bottom end grunt and instant power anywhere. Good review

Steven was spot on it’s a good sounding engine but it is very hard to talk to your passengers at much over crawling speed. Mine has been dead reliable. I have about 1000 miles on it no issues at all so far. Still on original belt I’ve only done fluid changes

The Teryx is a great machine for what it is, and I love how they got 4 seats without stretching the wheelbase. BUT, this basic design is going on 15 years old and the engine and suspension are seriously lacking. I mean it's really just Kawi's version of a Rhino. Would love to see Kawi come out with a sport SxS now that Honda has the Talon coming out. A sport SxS 4-seat with a reasonable wheelbase would be the cat's ass! For now I'll stick with my RZR XP1K 2-seat.

I love my 2014 teryx. I like the older style because of the flip down hood. It makes it nice to clean the radiator. But the newer style is nice too. Once Kawasaki comes out with their 1k sxs it's gonna be a game changer. 1k cc Vtwin!!!

I keep coming back to watch this. I really don’t need to spend the money 😖. I need a tough machine to handle this rough Kentucky mountain terrain and so far the 3 Polaris I have owned haven’t been able to take it for very long. Never was a problem in the old days when all we had was Honda’s, Yamahas, Kawasaki, and Suzuki. Polaris offers all the big engines and Hp numbers but don’t stand up to rough rugged terrain without breaking things worth a damn! Never had a Can Am so cant comment on that. If these are built anything like the Japanese quads of old they will definitely take a beating without the need of a mobile tool shed.

I haven't driven any other SxS vehicles to any real extent, but I have to say, I didn't much like the Teryx. The engine heat issue wasn't a big deal for me on the cool day I had it, but I could see that being a real problem. My biggest gripe was the loud engine and cvt. So annoying. I would have paid good money for some earplugs that day.

Its a lot if fun, comfortable and torquey, well built with a 3 yr warranty. My dealer charged 16200 plus tax, he cant keep em in stock, shocks soak up the rough stuff nicely, highly recommended 👍

Real Evaluation: I owned one!! and sold it after 50 hours!!...Do not buy, you will regret it. It is unbearably hot in cockpit and almost as bad for passengers, tremendous hot air on drivers legs as your sitting next to the engine manifold and exhaust. Second, unbearable is it is Loud!, .....at 92 DB you will have permanent hearing loss after 5-6 hours. You cannot carry on a halfway normal conversation without screaming back and forth.
