    Shaun is good interviewer. He dosen't rush with his words and gives impression that he listens answers from presenters. He is also clearly prepared with background information of products that he is asking questions. Well done, you.

    French commission and buy French vehicles, German commission and buy German vehicles.... Why do the British not invest in and prioritise it's own vehicles. This short sightedness by the British Government gets me so angry.

      Why did your gov kill aviation industry back in 1960s? And if they was going to kill plane production, why did uk gov build 3 different V bombers? Hope u dont mind sharing. Thank you

      @@jasons44 I don't know why, they see a World in numbers and they don't want to invest, they just want the cheapest. The whole Western World is suffering from this now with covid 19. We have no capacity to supply basic kit for essential need.

      It's so frustrating. The scorpion program looks extremely slick in terms of its capability, deployability and versatility. The UK governmemt has messed about for 30 years on programs, constantly changing requirements. Fox hound looks like a better underlying design than this vehicle but UK over specified on the exotic armour making it to expensive for mass production. So fking stupid when they need to replace thousands of snatch land rovers.

    The stove pipe on top is for a wood burning stove inside the vehicle. I guess.

    Il était temps de remplacer tous ces vénérables véhicules comme le Vab ou P4 maintenant l l'armée française doit continuer à être modernisé les lois de programmation militaire ont fait beaucoup de mal à l armée notamment dans ça modernisation pas seulement véhicules aujourd'hui il est temps de rattrapé et de corriger cela le monde et devenu complexe avec pour certains des tendances belliqueuses dans leurs doctrines de modernisation l armée française a assez fait de concessions avis perso 🙏🙏

      Et ce n'est pas que l'armée qui souffre des coupes budgétaires mais des PME qui participe à la modernisation ainsi que des entreprises clés comme Thales, Arquus et même Renault qui doit développer des moteurs plus puissant pour rattraper les Allemands.

    Seems redundant, why would they just not produce the JLTV under license? Most of the rest of the free wants the JLTV, why not France?

    • @agactual7901
      @agactual7901 Před 4 lety +4

      For the same reasons the yanks try hard to avoid buying foreign. Even if that is not enough reason, there's the concerns of the custom specifications set for the JLTV by the US Army fails to match the doctrines & needs of every Army on Earth.

    • @lordtemplar9274
      @lordtemplar9274 Před 4 lety +11

      Not comparable
      The Serval is a mini APC, it can carry 8 to 10 troops, weights 2x as much as JLTV and offers more protection (NBC, Stanag 4).
      France is in process of selecting VBAE which is equivalent size/weight category of JLTV. So far, 2 being considered are the Thales Hawkei and the Arquus Scarabe. JLTV offers nothing better than competition and it is a maintenance nightmare, headache compared to Humvee it replaced. Does the US make better quality vehicles than Europe? Even the UK is reconsidering their JLTV order since prices are spiralling out of control.
      Finally why should France buy US? does US buy French military equipment? When Pentagon selected A330 MRTT air refueling tanker politicians intervened and imposed Boeing KC46 which is still riddled with problems, delays and cost overruns
