  • I've come a long way in 3 years! It's so much fun to see progress. I love how training and experience leads to more confidence and fitness - I can't believe I'm able to hang on a 2/3 race! The Cat 5 was 50 minutes, the Cat 2/3 was 90 minutes. Cheers to more gains!

Crazy how you got dropped the first 17 races at Cat 5.. the tenacity you had to not give up is seriously respectable. Awesome to see the progression

What’s more impressive is the difference in your RPM’s… very telling in the work you’ve put in… 😎🙌🏽

@@ClaudioMarquez Is RPM something that improves with experience? Or did you also train it? Thanks for the awesome videos!

@@kruidnagel I've found that training programs place particular emphasis on RPMs. Like - if my RPMs aren't up, I didn't do the exercise correctly. Additionally, high RPMs lead to lead fatigue - so it is better to focus on getting them up

Nice work…most noticeable diff between cat 5 and 3 is the number pinning 😂

Some crazy priced bikes in cat3. Sl7 and factor

Claudio, huge fan. I was wondering what your setup was with the video overlay. Is it OBS studio? Do you have a pretty powerful PC?

Hey! I use garmin virb for overlays. Then edit in premier. I do have a new Mac Studio.

I’d argue I normalize less in a CAT 2/3 field by FAR than I used to in CAT 4/5 fields. The surging, inconsistent riding, sitting up and attacking v. staying on the gas, the trash cornering… all of these contribute to a larger power output in the lower categories. Not to mention your abilities as a bike racer should improve considerably so your efficiency will be overall, much better.
Great concept and comparison, but the results are going to vary so dramatically from race script to race script. Wouldn’t you agree?

2 races in, I've encountered nothing but seriously fast cat5 races 😂. It is a function of the people. To me it feels like the cat5's around me in NYC have been training for a while and, a significant number of them are on their way to cat4

That first video does look slow motion! The pedaling RPMs around you are so low!
