That is peak sibling energy. Knowing that when you die, the possibility of your sibling going to heaven is about the same as unicorns being real
I read it as 'if he abandoned me, he'd be in hell. But he isn't, so he hasn't.'

But if we wanna get realistic, people in the real world do bad things when their childhood was messed up, they usually go to hell. But being biblically accurate she would’ve went to Heaven because children whose parents didn’t teach them about God and stuff don’t go to hell. Nah i call cup
I don't know what's worse the fact that he knows his brother's gonna end up down there or the fact that he has such great faith in him it's insulting that he knows hes gonna end up down there
Mugman does know his brother.
Cuphead is an absolutely unrepentant troublemaker who has no self control and generally thinks of himself first and others only in afterthought. If Mugman isn't there to at least TRY to keep Cuphead out of trouble and on a more noble path, Cuphead is ABSOLUTELY going to end up in Inkwell Hell by simple natural course of events, and given Cuphead's near total lack of common sense it is liable to be sooner rather than later.
This has probably something Mugman has been worrying about so long that he's simply made peace with it and resolved to enjoy his brother's company while he can.
While it seems insulting, the fact that Mugman knows Cuphead so well tells you how close they are, and it is kind of heartwarming... especially the fact that Mugman has zero doubts whatsoever that, alive or dead, Cuphead is coming for him. If he's alive, he's coming to the rescue and if he's dead, then he's coming for a reunion, and all of Hell can't do a literally damned thing to change either of these facts.

@@alicegalati2455 (Long comment ahead!)
I personally didn't take it as him trying to outsmart the devil or remain calm. I took it as he genuinely does believe Cuphead is destined to go to hell. I mean, he *knows* his brother―so *also* knows that Cuphead, despite being a menace, cares deeply for Mugman enough to save him from somewhere he doesn't want to be. Or to just chill in hell with Mugman and make their eternal life there less boring and painful. (Cuphead seems to be great at making days less boring, after all! Either on purpose or entirely on accident!)
Both of them are just chaotic kids who show it in different ways. Cuphead seems to have thrown trying to act grown up and older than he is out of the window (which is far from a bad thing), while Mugman―while he does seem to try, or at least put up a front (such as how kids try to act older than they are to fit in with the adults/feel better about themselves)―is very similar to his brother. In that he's just a rowdy, chaotic child who is blunt and straightforward in his statements. He couldn't be *exactly* like a grown, mature, "sophisticated" adult for the life of him.
And that's really just how a lot of kids are, being so blunt, haha. As a babysitter, I work with kids, and I love how this show writes how they commonly are so well. To add on to that, they can actually be more "dark" than a lot of people realize! I mean, I created a "dead bodies" box for my barbie dolls. Ripped off limbs and red nail polish galore.
And like Mugman, I also wouldn't doubt that Cuphead would end up in Hell after death. Be it because of Cuphead's overall personality and misdeeds in life, *or* the devil would get Cuphead down there one way or another out of sheer spite and hatred for the kid. I could *not* see the devil settling for his sworn enemy thriving in eternal paradise.
So Mugman, logically so, genuinely believes that there's *no, possible way* Cuphead would end up in Heaven. Again, either because of Cuphead's all around greedy, troublemaking, and risky behavior flaws―or the devil's token pettiness.
The brothers are *far* from evil, though. I would just say that they give themselves, the adults, and other beings in their life a real run for their money. Because they're just rambugious kids being raised in a town full of other odd, over-exaggerated, kooky people.
But those are just how I took it! Sorry this is so long, by the way. I just really enjoy sharing my own thoughts on shows I'm into, haha.
