- To help out a few friends who are getting ready for their upcoming LANTITE exams, I have prepared a walkthrough to give my take on the Numeracy Practice Test. If you are struggling with a particular question, you can use the chapters to jump around the video, otherwise you can just have it playing in the background gongbang style and absorb the mathematical vibes. Good luck to everyone preparing for the test!
My score for this walkthrough was 91%. Hopefully that's high enough to give you comfort that I'm not going to lead you astray.

Thank you so much! Today I learned that I passed my numeracy test first attempt despite not being confident with maths my entire life. It was thanks to your videos and clear explanations I was able to gain the confidence to pass this test. You have done a real service to all pre-service teachers across the country!
Amazing, congratulations on your achievement! Very happy to hear that you found my video helpful ✅💥
I used this video to study for my numeracy lantite as I was especially nervous for it having not done any form of math since year 10. Managed to pass first go and get above the standard for most of the sections!!
So great to hear Sara!!! Congrats on passing!!!! 🥳🥳🥳
Please continue to explain other numeracy and literacy questions for us. It helps a lot.
Sure Serpil I'll be happy to help with other questions. Do you have any particular ones in mind? You can always feel free to send questions through to me via my website (www.tickboom.study) and I'll be happy to work through them. I normally focus on math questions sent through by high school students, but I'm also cool to help out with LANTITE stuff too.
I watched your LANTITE practice exams multiple times before my exams over the past few days. Honestly I cannot thank you enough for these videos. Super beneficial and great at easing the nerves. Thank you so much!
Thanks John! Very happy to be of service ✅💥
I’ve always felt nervous about maths tests since as long as I can remember and I found myself continuously re-reading to try comprehend the question due to the nerves and time pressure.
But I’m studying for my test coming up soon and watching this is making me so much more relaxed and confident, so I seriously can’t thank you enough mate!!!
So glad to hear this has been helpful Liam! It sounds like you've had a serious dose of math anxiety over the years (it's a real thing, you can Google it). I know it's easier said than done, but the best thing you can do for yourself is to keep calm and carry on, since very rarely do we perform at our best when we are stressed (with math, or anything else).
Just got my results back and passed first time!! Wouldn't have been possible without this video! Thanks so much xoxoxo, p.s go united :))
Woop wooooop! Congrats Edward that's so good (especially for a United fan 😅)
I really appreciate this video! It helped me gain confidence. I used this to study for my Lantite. Perhaps a video doing a quick refresher could also be beneficial eg
recap BODMAS, percentage, mean/median/mode, unit conversion, rates, ratio, factors, probability, range. such as 1km is 1000 m, 1 cubic m = 1000L. Like a quick 15-minute revision video to boost confidence before the exam.
Thank you! You may find the other videos on my channel (which covers the stuff I am teaching my junior classes) helpful as a refresher. The LANTITE seems like it really doesn't go too far beyond the equivalent of year 9 math.
Cheers for the great walkthrough of the test. Will definitely watch your literacy test walkthrough as well.
Thanks bro! Enjoy, and best of luck for the tests! ✅💥
Thanks for uploading this video:) it’s been extremely helpful! Sitting the test this Sunday night 😬🙏🏼
Good stuff Joshua! All the best for Sunday!!!
Thank you so much for uploading this video! Such great help :)
Great to hear Ines!
I had the exact same confusion as you for question 9! Glad to see I wasn't alone. Thanks for this! Very helpful to walk through my wrong answers, felt like I was discussing with a friend.
Haha thanks Georgia! I really was tying myself up in knots on that one 😅 ... All the best for your test!
Thanks so much! I sat the literacy one on Thursday and your video helped a lot. I am sitting the numeracy one tmrw!!
Nice one Bailey! I hope you nailed them both! ✅💥
Thank you so much for these videos, i have my test in 12 days and this has really helped me to understand what i should be expecting and how i should handle my questions.
Good one Zeynep! Best of luck for the test!!! ✅💥
thank you so much for this, it has helped me immensely :) pls keep making these!!
Thank you! I've had making more of these on the to-do list for a long time now! But full-time teaching is proving to be a very busy endeavour! Maybe this summer holidays I'll find some time 😶🌫
Thanks heaps I am sitting this test Tuesday for the 4th time and appreciate this video so much. I mirrored your answers and even had a drink of coffee same time ha ha
Haha that's gongbang dialled up to 11 ☕ ... All the best on Tuesday! I hope you've had some numeracy osmosis through watching my video and you smash it out of the park ✅💥
Thanks for doing this!
No worries!
Very much appreciate your videos, they put my mind at ease before taking the lantite. If I may, drop the background music in future videos, it ads killed the contunuity for no real gain.
Thanks for the feedback! You'll be happy to know I now have a paid version of Spotify, so if I ever do this again, it would be ad free 🤑
This video is sooo helpful! I have just booked my tests for Feb (Before USYD Sem 1 starts) and just started prepping today, this video has made me much more confident and also aware of all the things I need to look out for when completing the exam. Thank you so much!!!
Glad it helped Aisha! Are you also doing the MTeach at Sydney Uni? If you want a heads up about the workload involved, you might find this video helpful too: czcams.com/video/UcY7_0_mmT8/video.html
@@TickBoom Undergrad at the moment, I'm keen on doing masters eventually so I'll most definitely check out the video and see if pursuing that path is worth my while 😁. Appreciate it
Excellent video. Thank you very much.
Happy to help Ugur! ✅💥
So helpful! Thankyou :)
Thank you sir!
Glad to be of service! ✅💥
Thank you!
No worries!!! All the best for the test! 🖖🏻
Thanks for that
No worries! ✅💥
Hi, the video was of awesome help. Sitting the test on Tuesday next week both literacy and numeracy would you do one for literacy, the same as this video which was great help honestly exactly what I needed at this point.
Thanks Huda! I recorded this Numeracy walkthrough on the basis I'm training to become a math teacher, so in theory I have some credibility to help out on the numbers front. I have no such credibility with Literacy, although ironically I happened to do better on the Literacy test than I did on Numeracy 😮 ... In theory I could record a Literacy practice test walkthrough as well, but I definitely won't be able to get it done by next Tuesday, so unfortunately I don't think it would be of any use to you 😬
Thank you for this, been using it as a guide for my practice! Just wondering how similar was the ACER practice test to the real test you took this year? Was it harder / easier than this one? Range of questions more or less the same?? Thanks again!!
Thanks for sharing Akira, great to hear you've found this helpful! My recollection is that the practice test was a very good reflection of the actual exam (which I suppose makes sense). Unsurprisingly, I can't exactly remember the questions I got since I did it about 4 months ago, but even if I could remember, ACER are pretty serious about people not leaking specific information about the tests (which again makes sense). My understanding is that not everyone gets exactly the same test anyway, but at a high-level, it is definitely fair to say that the practice test is a good reflection of the difficulty on the real test. I would say that if you are meeting or above the standard on the practice test, you should be confident to achieve the same outcome on the real one.
This is soo helpful. thank you :)
Do you know what the calculator in the real will be like? ie percentage button etc
I cant seem to access it on the practice material.
Glad I could help Kristy! That's odd you can't see the online calculator. Are you doing the practice test in the ACER platform? It's worth a double check as I think it is helpful to get used to using the online calculator. It took me a while to discover that there is a "use calculator value" button next to every question, which proved to be a bit of a time saver. I found this PDF online which at least shows you what it will look like: teacheredtest.acer.edu.au/files/The-onscreen-calculator_30.09.2019.pdf
I have a retired question that I'm not sure of how they got the answer. Can you try and explain how the answer is D, although I can only get B?
Sarah wanted to multiply by 32
but divided by 32 by mistake. Her answer was 6. What should her
answer have been?
A. 32
B. 192
C. 1024
D. 6144
Hi there, if you let the unknown value be x, then we know that x / 32 = 6 since Sarah divided the number by 32 and got 6. This means that x = 192 (since 192 / 32 = 6). Now that we know the starting number, we can multiply it by 32 as originally intended and get 6144. I hope that helps! ✅💥
Thank you!!@@TickBoom I wasn't doing the next step, ahh I had to multiply 192 x 32= 6144. Legend, and I really appreciate the LANTITE videos. You gave some great tips. 😃
Is the practice exam much different from the real one? I did the practice and first go, I got around 65%. Like most l, I’m a little rusty and will be practicing.
My experience was that the practice exam was a good indication of the real one, or at least the one I took. My understanding is that the test is a little different each time (which makes sense given many people need multiple attempts). Apart from the practice test I didn't do any other preparation, and everything turned out ok for me. But I have noticed there are a lot of practice materials available to anyone who wants them (there's plenty of Facebook groups that can help on this front).
How do you get the practice test report? I have completed it and it doesn't generate anything for me?
Hi Jasmine, hmmmm from memory I think it was available for me to download somewhere in the ACER platform, but I no longer have access so I can't go back in to double check 😑 ... you might just have to email the ACER people to get a steer.
OMG I still can't believe my epic fail on question 41 at 01:33:31. Too funny! 😵
Thanks for taking the time to put this video together, it is super helpful. Do you have one for the literacy test as well?
@@philmorello4373 Glad you found it helpful! I’ve had a few requests for a literacy one so it’s on the to-do list. I just need to smash out all my end of semester essays first, so it’s probably a few weeks away.
wondering for question 45, why is it south east corner? i thought it is on the south? hope you answer and help Thanks
Hi Atikah, thanks for your question. The door is definitely on the south side of the room (since it is opposite the north side). But because it is not exactly in the middle of the south side, we can go one step further and also say whether it is east or west. Since east is to the right or north, and west is to the left, we can say the door is on the south-east side of the room since it is to the right of the south side (it may help if you tilt your head sideways 😅)
Hi, Can you make a video on retired numeracy questions 2019?
Hi there, I'm not currently creating new content, but I'll put this on the to-do list for if/when I do ✅💥
I could not see a pattern in q 13 when I did this practice test
Hi Harriet, yes admittedly it's not the easiest pattern to spot. I think that question was definitely one of the trickier ones in this test.
Does anyone know if we are allowed to used a scientific calculator in the exam?
No you won't be able to use a scientific calculator. The online platform that you log into has an inbuilt calculator (which you probably want to do some practice with, which you can do with the practice exam in the ACER platform).
Oh right, thank you.
Hi Nathan!
I watched 20 minutes of this video. Your voice is soothing :)
@@domodoeslife4741 Why thankyou! It's good to know I've also got some subtle ASMR vibes going. I've always thought my channel would serve as a good cure for insomnia 😁
how do we know when to divide or multiply in the question
Hi Amena, is there a particular question you are thinking of?
@@TickBoom not really I’m speaking I. General, thought out the video you mostly would refer to multiplication or division. How would you know which one you would use in any question?
@@amenaelchamaa647 that's a tough one to answer in general terms ... whether you need to multiply or divide is often driven by the context of the question, and admittedly I may take for granted knowing when to do which operation ... could a video like this one help? czcams.com/video/2iCuDBKtVo8/video.html
I ran out of time. Definitely wouldn’t tell people not to rush/to take their time
😵😵😵Really sorry to hear that! Thanks for sharing your experience. It's always helpful to hear different perspectives. 🤞for you!
@@TickBoom all good! I’m getting diagnosed for dyscalculia next week so hopefully that can give me some more time. Also hoping I didn’t fail the last test but I think I did because I had to guess 😬
@@smk2329 All the best with your diagnosis journey! Hopefully you can get some meaningful adjustments. More power to my neurodiverse brethren! 😎
@@TickBoom thanks! I’d also love to see more numeracy lantite videos. Honestly, anything to help me work things out quicker and figure out when to use what that would be great!
@@smk2329 Sure I'd be happy to make more. I just need to work out where to find more questions to work through. Any ideas on that front?
Just got my results back and passed first time!! Wouldn't have been possible without this video, Thank you so much
Amazing, congratulations Allanah!!! Glad I could play a little part in your success ✅💥
