What a beauty :) in the comments some people are concerned about the dish of the rear wheel or the nds chainstay lenght ...you should check the frame/ the rear triangle for alignment. I bend a frame because of a stuck seatpost. i even put in an old hub to prevent bending.
Craig - long time watcher here and you’ve without a doubt inspired me to pick up tools and start building things and playing around with my bikes. Sure I turn to park tool when I have questions but 2nd life bikes gives me the confidence to give it a shot. Thank you!

Have you checked the chainstay leghts match eachother after the disk brake bracket was welded? If the NDS stay is longer that would explain the non-centered wheel.
is the rear wheel not dished correctly or something? or is it the frame that's tweaked i wander.

P.s and I'm totally devastated I missed drum and bass on the bike today in Liverpool with Dom Whiting 😢 was up early checking tinterweb to see what's on today and completely missed the main event of the year for me 😢
Noice work as usual. I'm lookin' for some Proper Crusty and Save Old Biles stickers for a few bikes, but each time I check, they are sold out. I'll get there in time yet! Defo dig the sticker for a chain slap guard!
Nice build, I had the same issue with tires on my retro builds, I went for a Tough Tom 2.1 which gives me plenty of space and is nice and grippy and chunky, my Maxxis Minion F also has plenty of space on the forks
This is a cool rat rod build. Resto-mod. Steel is real. I always want disc brakes ever since I tried them. Perfect.

I'm a bike tech, you need to just reseat that rear wheel to get it in straight. It's evenly crooked to one side so the frame probably isn't bent

Awesome retro build 😁 and AirBike company are absolutely brilliant. I have a Saracen hardtail 2020 used for trails and jumps, and it runs so smoothly with the 12speed cassette from AirBike 💯 and the prices are incredible for the quality products. Loving the burnt effects by the way!! Awesome touch.
Those WTB trail boss tyres will be slow on most hard surfaces, I'm not sure if it's your best choice, those maxxis ardent tyres are much better, especially once the tread wears down a little.

Absolutely loving this build! Now that the frame has disk mounts welded on have you thought about removing the old rear canti/v brake mounts?
You can protect the burned and bare metal areas with matte or flat finish clear unless you're going for the rusty look. If so, you can spray the clear after a little surface rust forms.
More great, individually styled work. Great stuff. This one in particular, and also recent scouring on Marketplace reminded me that in the 90s people used to buy some massive MTB frames, I spotted some decent stuff for sale recently but really don’t want a 22” or so. It looks so odd compared to modern stuff.

Nice and crusty. Stick a retro brake booster on the back. Add some stiffness to the frame to support the greater braking force... Or just coz it looks cool 😎

Anyone know of a clear video that does and break down of what to look out for in upgrading old bikes? As a layman I don’t know stem sizes, handlebars sizes, common tire a wheel sizes (what fits) etc. I think it could be incredibly interesting and helpful to do a walk around an old bike and what things you could change out and things to look out for when doing your own bike or looking for a bike to upgrade

Are you able to ship out to the US without issues now? I ordered some stickers a year ago but they never made it. And tracking provided would never update.
5:55 That's on the limit, flirting with hell no. if the hairs are barely touching it's fine if the wheel is stiff enough. But if it's less than 5mm it's no-go usually.
Did you check the dish of the wheel? it might need to be put in a truing stand to move it to the centre. The dish might just be off to the left, it's a common issue after a while it happens. The claim is that it's due to the hub flange flange being closer to the centre on the drive side, thus it going out of dish to the left.
Looks as though the rear wheel needs re dishing slightly to the drive side.
