Chetna, I just wanted to let you know that this week alone I've cooked 3 of your lovely recipes for lunch, from the channel and also from your awesome books. They've all been so tasty and healthy. Thanks to you I've managed to cook so much more great Indian food at home during the last year.
I made the vegetable version tonight..added yellow squash because it needed to be used..the seasonings were perfect, the balanced flavors so enjoyable..My first Biryani, definitely not the last.. I am 82, caregiver to the sweetest husband in the world..who won't eat vegetables..he ate every bit. Thank you so much for the adventure 😊
Made the chicken biryani for dinner tonight and it was such a big hit. Loved the ease and the flavours. Never have I used star anise in my biryani and it was delicious.
I only just found your channel and Im so glad I did!! Just cooking this recipe for dinner tonight, but already made your chatna dahl.. my fijian father was so so happy. Its taken ages to find a recipe that matches what he used to eat!! Thankyou so much from NZ xxx
I live in a small town where there are no good Indian restaurants. Thank you so much for these simple and delicious recipes. As I watch this I am eating your recipe for chickpea curry - yummy! Are. you using plain white rice or basmati?
You've helped me so much throughout my time at home while I take care of my sick mum thank you for sharing all of these recipes my mum is very impressed with my cooking !
Just tried the veg version, added some chickpeas, too. the rice became sooo full of flavour, and fresh herbs on top gave freshness to the whole plate! thank you🤩😋
Loving you, (character and sense of humour) and your cooking plus the two books I have. Recently I was in Lucknow, Nepal, Kushingar and several other wonderful places. I ate a lot (a LOT) of Thali, which I so enjoyed. Would you be able to please make a video with example of dishes suitable for Thali. ? Best wishes and thanks for wonderful recipes 🙏🏻
These both look delicious! I looked up many recipes and they all call for removing the browned onions to return to the dish in layers when the rice is added. I thought having onion right on top would make the onion flavor more pronounced but it didn’t. I think your way, leaving them in with the chicken or veg to braise, probably produces the flavor I’m looking for. I might still make more as crispy onions to garnish though lol.
Great recipes u are helping so much me to learn Cook because i Will marry an indian man in Sha Allah so i really Need to learn thank u very very much May Allah Bless u ❤️
Do what the Iranians do. Boil your rice for less time and then mix it with your wet stuff and let it brew on low heat. Your rice will taste and smell more amazing, guaranteed.
looks incredible. I've made your butter chicken biryani recipe several times--always a favorite. I have a question about this recipe, especially the Veg version. I have some vegan friends I'd like to make this for--HOW essential is the yogurt? Should I find a vegan substitute or leave it out all together?
Great recipes as always but I have to say, I REALLY wish I had your spice draws, did you have your kitchen custom designed or is that draw an off the shelf option?
Thank you so much. I have loved Indian food all my life and now your recipes bring me back to make more vegan Indian recipes. Thank you 🙏🏻 much appreciation from me. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi, I've just made chicken madras Nd will def make again, I've saved it too but is there a way of seeing the ingredients so next time I can read ingredients to jog my memory? Tks neil
Greetings from Canada! I love your new kitchen, gorgeous! Can't wait to try this recipe :) by the way, now I've got several family members and a few coworkers hooked on your channel as well!
Made the chicken version and it was super delicious. Perfect for a very rainy Toronto day..such comfort food. The spices made this dish perfect for our family. Will definitely make it again.
Hi Ms. Chetna. You said the rice for the veg biryani is fully cooked. How about the rice for the chicken biryani? Half cooked? I made your butter chicken biryani. It was the best! Thank you!
If you want to make it even easier and quicker I use a couple of microwave rice on top of the chicken or lamb mixture if I do not want to make the biriyani in the traditional way. The beauty with this is if you keep a few packs of microwave rice in the cupboard you can make a biriyani in very quick time.
Please can we have a pulao recipe? I cook on an Aga, to do everything at once instead of having lots of pots on the go would be easier. Thank you so much
I note you using what looks to be the same utensil in both the chicken and veggie pans? can't tell if you washed your hands after touching the meat before the veg... being a veggie since the 70's I have noted non-veggies who don't understand our viewpoint about such things.

The way you opened your spice draw like a boss! The veg version looked amazing. Thanks for sharing.
haha
Love how easy and quick this is. I would add paneer to the veg one too and make it! Looks great!
Great idea!
Oh Chetna, so nice to see you save every grain of rice. Rice is Sri, and she should never be discarded.
Yes
"here is some of the basic spices I use" pulls out a whole shelf of them. Literally dream of that
That is a magical spice drawer! Jesum!
Thanks Andrew
Mam your Cooking ideas are definitely growing on me😊😎🙏🌷💕
Worrying won't stop the bad things from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.
Yup

I made this for dinner tonight and it was sooooo good! No more Indian take out. This is so much better. :) Thank you, Chetna!
I just followed the recipe and the result was amazing. Please keep making videos.
Thank you, I will
Hi Chetna…Made the chicken biryani…it was sooo yummmm..thanks for sharing the recipe😊
Does anyone know what the pot is that she is using for the chicken biryani? It’s so pretty and I love that it has a clear lid.
Does look amazing. I've never seen a recipe where the rice is used most like a lid. Beautiful

Tried the veg biryani and it came out delicious!! Thank you for the recipe
Thank you. I am sure my family is going to love this!!!
It looks so good, Chetna. But I missed you tasting it! It would work well as a dish for my half-vegetarian-half-not family!
My mouth is watering here in New Jersey USA. Gosh I wish I were one of your dinner guests. Everything looks absolutely delicious!
Thanks so much
❤ made the chicken for dinner. Perfect! Love your videos and cookbooks
Quick question: why not Olive oil?
Do what the Iranians do. Boil your rice for less time and then mix it with your wet stuff and let it brew on low heat. Your rice will taste and smell more amazing, guaranteed.
I swear when you fluffed up the chicken version I could almost smell it. I know what I'm eating tomorrow!
Thats brilliant, I do wish we had a smellovision
Chetna what about yellow colour or saffron?

It would be nice to have a vegan yogurt in it but you can leave it out too

Hi again, tried the chicken biryani today. Absolutely delicious. Thank you. 😋
Made the chicken version and it was super delicious. Perfect for a very rainy Toronto day..such comfort food. The spices made this dish perfect for our family. Will definitely make it again.
smells delish! - it's almost as if you have cooked this type of meal before, Chetna.... 😃 thanks for showing us, I'm going to try it this week.
Hope you enjoy
@@FoodwithChetna Hi - have just made this and it is delicious! Thanks to you: keep on cooking...
😃👏👏
New favourite channel 👌 really enjoying these dishes thank you very much for sharing. 🤗
I’m going to make this one today! Do you have a spice substitute suggestion for star anise? I’m thinking I’ll use saunf.
I'd suggest fennel seeds as they have an anise flavour.
There are lots of lovely spices in it so you can just skip the star anise
Look at that spice cabinet lol heck yeah! ❤️
Oh yeah!
Chetna has got lovely utensils I need to do some shopping for these 😭✌
Hi... am from Indonesia..lovely biryani..asian tasty😍😋
I lallso love ❤your spice drawer I so want that here 🥰
Hi Ms. Chetna. You said the rice for the veg biryani is fully cooked. How about the rice for the chicken biryani? Half cooked? I made your butter chicken biryani. It was the best! Thank you!
nameste chetna I cooked your chicken bryani tonight omg tasty khanna 🥰❤ amazing dhaanuvaad 👩🍳👌
Please tell chetna, where did you get the pink pot from? And how did make yr spice drawer as i want to make the same. Thanks.

Nice Veg biryani recipe!
Thanks a lot
So love your hair
Looks delicious 😋
What does the rose water do?
I am trying to find an old recipe of yours. It was veg cooked in rice curry. Can you please share the link. Thank you x
I love the videos but find them hard to follow i love a written recipe can i find the written version of the veg byriani at all
How would the veg proportion change if you wanted to add paneer or cauliflower?
I would reduce the potatoes to 1 and then add a few florets of cauliflower and a few cubes of paneer to it
Paneer would be amazing I think. Thanks for the suggestion
Hi! What would be the difference in cooking time if using boneless chicken?
Don't bother. It will taste flat,
Спасибо 🙏🕉️
Please take care of non stick utensils wooden chamcha is best suitable
Why no olive oil? I used Regular olive oil for everything. ( not extra virgin)
Why not olive oil?
Looks amazing chetna love to try this love your spice drawer xxxxx👍🌈🏴🏴🏴

The beauty with this is if you keep a few packs of microwave rice in the cupboard you can make a biriyani in very quick time.
Can I ask why you don't just add raw rice? Thank you x
Because that would be more like a pulao
Please can we have a pulao recipe? I cook on an Aga, to do everything at once instead of having lots of pots on the go would be easier. Thank you so much
I've googled pulao and biryani too - I do cook a pilau rice dish, (thanks to Bart's Spices.) I didn't know the difference. Thank you x
why NOT olive oil? thanks
just so you know your Instagram link doesn't work.
How much raw rice did you use?
🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍
There is no such thing as 'veg biryani', it's called Pulao
Rude.
I note you using what looks to be the same utensil in both the chicken and veggie pans? can't tell if you washed your hands after touching the meat before the veg... being a veggie since the 70's I have noted non-veggies who don't understand our viewpoint about such things.
But you will EAT animal by-products..? 🤔
Hey Chetna, Your recipes are fine, but you have an attitude.. No welcome to your viewers...no salutation. Is it tooo hard to say hello and welcome.
