    Those were some very difficult breaks. The techniques they were required to use didn't allow for a lot of body movement to assist with the breaking force. Also, they had to be extremely well focused to hit the precises spot and do a clean follow through. Any deviance risked terrible injury hitting the metal holding rack. Fear of failure, fear of injury, fear of the impact....all those things made these breaks one where intense mental control was needed. There has to be great mental preparation to see those boards as a weak opponent that you can and will defeat. Belief in your own ability has to be very, very strong. Three cheers for the winners!!!

      Did destruction TKD back in the RAF 1970s especially for demonstrations for the public but using wood and bricks and not those reusable plastic ones. I can see the sense of using the plastic ones as there is more consistency which allows a better method of testing the power of the strike as wood varies due to the nature of the grain. I was though very surprise at the exposure of the metal holding rods, as hitting them could cause a lot of damage to a foot or fist.

  • @pv6304
    @pv6304 Před 4 lety +5

    There is a definite technique to it. You must hit them cleanly, with speed and power. If you are just a few mm off target, you won't break them. Distancing, angles, hip rotation, follow through, conditioning of your striking tools, ie knuckles, knife hand, foot etc all are of equal importance.

  • @SonofDaVinci4
    @SonofDaVinci4 Před 4 lety +7

    New plastic boards are TOUGHER to break than pine. You really have to sell out and hit them right on the crease. The spin kick misses seemed half-hearted and were off the mark. You can see the lack of confidence and belief in those who missed. Reverse knife hand on 3 plastic boards is INSANE! Even if the plastic boards are broken in, mad respect. Look at the thumbside of your hand. Tuck the thumb in. The strike area is less meaty and protected than the traditional knife edge. I have more respect for what I saw here in comparison to those laughable quarter inch board demos with splinters flying around.

    I'm surprised they allowed a metal horse. one miss and the edges would destroy your foot/hand. Those plastic boards were bad news. Once they got broken 50 plus times, they got easier and easier, to break, but they also flew all over the place. I saw a few bad injuries caused by flying plastic boards back in the day. Wood is your best bet, P-pine for top testing and deal for standard power testing.

    Better than the very fist plastic boards we had back in the 80's. when you hit them they came flying out of the horse a lot of the time. Caused a few nasty accidents. Back then, after a relatively small number of breaks they became easier to penetrate, wonder if the new stuff is the same?. I suppose they are an improvement now, over 30 years on. Still kinda prefer Piranha Pine for demonstrating destruction power.

    • @Heigxion
      @Heigxion Před 2 lety

      The correct way to hit a reverse knifehand is with the up middle part of the 2nd metacarpal bone, making sure you're correctly bending your thumb towards your palm. If you hit it with the bone, you'll probably end up breaking it.
      They also use their whole body to generate power. If you observe their technique, you can see they are almost making a turning motion, that's because they using their hips to rotate very fast and generate power.

      Acá sos vos contra las tablas, no hay manera de equivocarse (es una oportunidad por técnica), y no depende prácticamente de la valoración de los Umpires, si te equivocas es error tuyo. Es pura técnica, precisión y potencia.
      La gracia es ver la correcta ejecución de una técnica de Taekwon-do; como no está intencionado que sea utilizado para salir a golpear personas por la calle y ver si realmente les podes hacer daño, se canaliza en esto.

      Muestra la ejecución buena de los técnicos asi como el poder de cada individuo y para que sepas son muy duras las tablas y te puedes lastimar si no tienes experiencia.

      No sé si será sarcasmo, pero te explico por las dudas. No son tablas convencionales, son de un material especial, el cual se puede armar y desarmar para hacerlo más práctico.

      Se llaman simuladores, para romperlas se necesita la misma fuerza que con una tabla convencional

    • @Heigxion
      @Heigxion Před 2 lety +2

      Es más sencillo romper madera que las tablas encastrables.
      No solamente se eligen por las tablas encastrables por costo-beneficio, también se eligen estas tablas porque requieren mucha más precisión para romper. La madera, si vos le golpeas con fuerza se raja, incluso si no le golpeas en el centro de manera correcta. Acá, si le erras al centro, no existe manera de que rompas.

    Что за набор коряг??? Кто дал им черные пояса??? Победитель говорит что занимался 10 лет, у него что одна тренировка в месяц была все эти годы? Это мировые соревнования???? Я не занимаюсь уже 18 лет, но до сих пор имею лучший ударный навык чем эти дрова в видеоролике.

      @Alvin Cunanan there is nothing wrong with those boards, those are designed to be broken using a specific amount of force.

      Lmao, in an exam i broke a toe instead of the board cause of a bad technique, dont understimate a board cause of "looking fake". Those are made that way to re use them and are hard as wood boards as well.
