  • Playing triplets within a strumming pattern can be tricky. I'm going to break it down into manageable parts, and you'll be incorporating triplets into your strumming in no time!
    I'll teach you two different ways too triplet strum and the benefits of both ways so that you can choose the method that best suits you.
    At the end of the video, there is a 12 bar blues exercise so that you can practice using both methods and see which one is best for you.

    In addition to giving really useful lessons on ukulele, you are giving lessons on being well dressed and put together. Most of CZcams is filled with people wearing tee-shirts and cutoff jeans. I am constantly amazed at your ever changing wardrobe.

I really think this can elevate one's playing, and I love any excuse to use my excess energy on my instrument. I also think this technique can scare people away because they may think that it's too complicate for them. Hopefully I broke it down so that it made sense. Great strumming, Katie!.....This can make a song so much interesting.........I like using my thumb when doing a triplet (after I stop sucking on it).......:)........Learning this at a a slow speed, is the key to making it sound really nice when you start speeding it up to the tempo you want........Just don't get a speeding ticket when doing this fast.........:)..........have a great day, Katie.......thank you, again!..........:)

    • @OneMusicSchool
      @OneMusicSchool  Před 5 lety

      It's a fun way to make a song sound interesting. It also makes you look more advanced when you play. You don't have to learn it, but it can set you apart from other players if you know how to add it into a song. That was a good question.

    Thank you. This was a good explanation of the two kinds of strumming triplets. I think I have to think about the use of it and of course practice a lot. I noticed at once that my hand wants to do other things then the head tells them ;-)
    By the way... today I listened to "What if" by Coldplay several times and searched for a ukulele tutorial for it. But there is NONE. Perhaps you would like to teach me (us) this very emotional song. Would fit perfectly to your voice...

    It seems to feel most natural to me when I come up with the thumb. However, it does not ring out when I do it. I try doing it harder but it just sounds like my nail scrubbing. Could it be that my nail is very very short? Do I need to grow out my thumbnail a little?
