I've been indulging in a spot of Walkhammer but the hobby is never far from my thoughts as today I ponder - what are the 10 best novels to introduce someone to 40K lore?

Stonkin’ suggestions! 👏
Fine choices sir
Awesome! Some superb suggestions in there, I’d also be tempted to add one of William King’s Space Wolf novels as an honourable mention. Thanks for the #Walkhammer shout out buddy!
I thought about it, but the first book of Ragnar goes to Hogwarts is quite insular and doesn't give you much on the Imperium or 40K as a whole, so it was beat out by other books.
I agree with the top 2, some I will need to read. I would add tye "spears of the emporer" to a top 10 list, a different take on space marines.
I thought about that one, but I think the other two ADB books already on the list are better, and Spears assumes a lot of existing knowledge about the rift, primaris, etc.
Gaunts ghosts always are top. Path of the elder by gav thorpe is a good book to read.
Gaunts Ghosts is an excellent series, one of the best, but I'm not sure it's the best series for an introduction to 40K as it could mostly be a war story from any era. That's why I didn't include them..I haven't read the Path of the Eldar series, I will have to give them a try! I read Phil Kelly's Dark Eldar series which were very good if you enjoy Eldar fiction.
Shout if you want to borrow the Eldar books (I think I have then all)
Any recommendations for books from the perspective of the Eldar? Haven't read too much in the 40k universe but played the Dawn of War games and was curious to see my space elves in some fiction.
There's a trilogy called The Path of the Eldar which sadly I haven't read but would be an excellent grounding. Otherwise I have read the Dark Eldar trilogy which also has their craftworld and harlequin cousins in. They make a decent showing in Ghostmaker, the second Gaunts Ghosts novel too, and if you can find it - it's out of print and not available as an eBook - Shadow Point has excellent sections from the point of view of an Eldar Corsair prince.
@@90percentgeek Thanks for this recommendation. I've now read the first two of the Path series books and enjoyed them. Will start on the third soon! Cheers.
Looks like a nice, green area.. Lovely walk eh?
