Fringy: Spends half an hour thinking hard about deleting data or not based on completely ridiculous hypotheticals Also Fringy: Brute forces 100% of the puzzles with no thought or contemplation or consideration of his surroundings
God damnit, if I ever get a terminal illness I swear to God I'ma kidnap Jay, tie him up, and force him to sit with me in a home theatre and watch LOTR. I'll give him food and water, but he can't turn me in until he gives at least a 45 minute review.
I swear, Fringy going through Akers and the Proxy had me STRESSED... Every time he stopped being stealthy, I was like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! STAHP!!" 🤣🤣🤣
ive never played soma & this is a sick way to experience it first time tbh. unlike a lot of boring channels/streamers your commentary is actually adding to the experience; focussing on the implications of everything & the moral dilemas
@@garretthayden6355 Impressive how they change the value of their game from "the story we told is why you should buy this game" to "The choices and philosophical ramifications YOU struggle with, are why you should buy this game".
I finished this game for the first time a few days ago. Listening to Fringy talk through his thought process helped me come to terms with my own thinking. This has been incredibly therapeutic.
I hope theres some full efap review and discussion of soma with the boys at some point id LOVE to hear all their thoughts on this game, its a freaking masterpiece

Heck yeah, it finally happened! So excited to hear Fringy use this game as a reference in future conversation, and excited to hear his thoughts on it as I watch through it now!
3:07:05 anybody else watching just casually stop looking at the video in solidarity with Fringy just in case? 😅 Maybe I’m just a scaredy-cat, but I find this game utterly terrifying.
IT’S ABOUT TIME The most anticipated event in the last 6 years of my life. “Game’s not very spooky so far, maybe Joseph A has got a point” How DARE YOU lol “Well I certainly ain’t using it on him” Yes, He’s a good boy The only differences between current Simon and original Simon are the experiences current Simon has had down here. Sure he’s changed since realizing that the world ended and he’s a machine, but otherwise he IS still the same person. A personality is the culmination of your life experiences, current Simon still has ALL of his experiences.
It's irritating that he just seems to block lambda from his mind entirely even though every conversation with Catherine very clearly shows she's at lambda
What did the robots ask you: 1.) Don't kill me., 2.) Get help, 3.l Get help. None asked for death, even Amy. Is it right for me to decide life vs death, especially if I'm in same situation. Is my need for answers more important than another s life. Who said Amy's current condition was final. Maybe wau was still repairing her and I saw her in mid repair?
Approx 3 years ago, I was in despair over analogous moral questions. I was very perplexed. Walking home, I came to a man who pointed at me and asked if I was a Christian. The man then smiled and said, "I know you are. I have observed you from birth. You were raised to honor the Lord. I receive messages from the Lord and deliver them. The Lord wants you to know that he knows you seek to honor him. The Lord knows your heart. Do not give up. Continue to seek to honor him and do what is right." I was unable to move from my yes to the time he left. Note no solution was provided to me. The will to do right and serve him coming from a healthy core mattered more than good decision from malevolent desired.
i think the WAU knew the earth is just F'ed, thats why it made simon-2 and catherine-2 for humanity's "survival" despite of its many failure creations it somehow succeeded at its prime directive
The pacing on this game is goddamn impressive. Sucks you in with the philosophical tone, then bam! evil robots! Then you're the evil robot! then you're a confused fem-cyborg from the past! Then straight up bodyhorror and psychopathy. all with transhumanism, AI and post-apocalypse threading it together.
The Robin choice pains me. Save that woman from purgatory! 🥲 Just to elaborate, my POV is that she is absolutely not chill. If you listen to her talk, she is coping with her situation like Simon was. The longer you listen, the less confident she becomes, but it's too painful to accept the truth, so she keeps trying to convince herself it's the Ark. In a few hours or days, she will realize how utterly screwed she is and she is incapable of moving. She doesn't even have arms. She's just trapped in solitary confinement at the bottom of the ocean forever.
But that's if, and only if, we presume the Wau is done with the ones it's preserved. It seems to be evolving and progressing throughout the entire game, what asuredness do we have that, left alone, the Wau wouldn't begin to work on fixing the people it kept alive? That's the conumdrum with ending a life, you can't ever know absolutely for sure what _would_ have happened, only what happens if you kill her: that's the end.
Man, playing the flesher part last night felt ultra-oppressive, like it was right on top of me the entire time I was in the Curie. Ngl, it even felt a bit frustrating at times just as a game mechanic, not being able to look around my environment fully.
Don't give him grief. He really didn't want to record this originally. That might've effected this playthrough a lot. I notice when I record my games I start trying to play a lot faster than normal.
He tried, he really did. It's just hard to figure out what to do for his desired outcomes even when he took so long to deliberate and examine everything.
I haven't watched this yet, but I remember Fringy mentioned on some occasion that he always runs through games very quickly, without really doing sidequests/collecting items/etc. all that much. It's just his style.
@@kelp7060 I wasn't griefing him, just a shame that he missed out on a lot of really cool environmental storytelling that he would have seen if he had just slowed down a little. But I get what you mean, it probably would have been better for him to just play it. Or alternatively, maybe just record it without an audience. I think streaming it was a mistake.
"Watching Fringy FINALLY play Soma is the only thing that brings me joy in life..."
That meme is top tier.. and is one of my only joys in life
The fact that brings joy to your life is the only thing that brings joy to my life
The immersion of Simon saying “Torono” and everyone else saying “Toronto” makes me happy.

Fringy humming under the sea as he slowly crawls around the ship is priceless.
I was completely in one line with Catherine's frustration when Fringy was trying to upload all the wrong brainscans at the simulation puzzle.
Next thing Jay'll upload a video titled: "So I watched the Lord of the Rings Trilogy."
Nah, he wants this trolling to last a decade first.

Glad the vod is here! It was a fantastic playthrough, and I’m sure I’ll rewatch it plenty of times over the years ❤️
This reminds me a little of the story, "I have no mouth and I must scream".
Towards the end of this video, after 15 seconds of indecision...... "Well, we can't wait here forever." 2015 to 2104 Simon's mind lay in status.
