BYU QB Zach Wilson
Junior 6’3 210 lbs
After an impressive 2020 season, BYU QB Zach Wilson is finally getting the recognition he deserves. Before the season, he wasn’t even thought to be “draftable,” but now some view him as a potential No. 2 overall pick right behind Clemson star Trevor Lawrence. Justin Fields, Trey Lance & Kyle Trask are also viewed as top QB prospects.
While Wilson may not win the Heisman, it’s incredible that he’s even getting this kind of attention. The most impressive thing about Zach Wilson has been his arm strength. Most people knew about his mobility & playmaking ability outside of the pocket, but he’s shown that he can stay in the pocket and deliver a beautiful deep ball like Josh Allen & Patrick Mahomes from time to time. It’ll be interesting to see how he’s viewed as a draft prospect throughout the draft season.

I’m high on Wilson but this is a dumb statement lol, Trey Lance and Trevor Lawrence have cannons for arms. Mac Jones doesn’t have a cannon but still a good arm, same thing with Fields. Trask is the only one you have to worry about with arm strength
There might not be another player who has improved his draft stock as much as BYU QB Zach Wilson. He entered the season as someone who many didn’t think would be a legitimate draft prospect & now he could be the 2nd player drafted behind Trevor Lawrence.
On the year, Wilson threw for 3,692 yards & 33 TDs with just 3 INT. He also had 10 rushing TDs.

@@stevieb253 We should get a few experienced players from free agency to help our talented young team, but QB is the main piece of the puzzle. We drafted Darnold cos he checked all the boxes, and it didn't happen. Some QBs don't check all the boxes but there is something special about them. Mahomes was drafted as the 10th pick for example. Wilson also has something special about him and sometimes you have to go with your gut as GM.
sum guy just told me that he has inside info that the jags like zach wilson more than trevor and they are taking him. also i heard announcers talkin a few weeks ago i think before the coastal game how teams see wilson as the number 1 so im guessing it’s true. plus it’s this cowboys youtuber i watch since my teams are dallas and jags and he said wilson is his number one if we were in for a qb😶. if they do that then u guys(jets) can trade us(jags) ur 2nd 1st round pick for the #1.

It's so hard to tell if some of this stuff translates. The throw across his body early in the video was not a great decision. Most of the catches don't look contested. He runs and gains yards but he doesn't look very athletic.

All I watched so far was that first throw and he did it so calmly and perfect while a big dude was running fast right at him a clear shot on him to and he knew he was gonna get drilled and still thru a dime!!! I really think Wilson has the IT and mental side which is HUGE
I loved watching his offensive line. BYU had a great O-line this year. Wouldn't be surprised to see at least a few of them playing in the NFL in the next couple years. Especially that tackle that was an All-American this year.

Wilson has traits that you can't quantify. His instincts in the pocket, his touch on his throws, his release angles on his throws, his footwork in the pocket. When its all said and done I think he will be the best QB in this draft

Shanahan also drafted C.J. Beathard to be 49ers' starting QB... that didn't turn up to be a smart move. Now 49ers trade 3 first rounder for a new QB that we have no clue excepts some films. JUST DON'T BLEW IT!!! Don't draft a Ryan Leaf, Heath Shuler, Jamarcus Russell...etc. Tom Brady was a 6th rounder! See if next new QB can take 49ers to the SB like Jimmy G. He has the strongest arm I’ve ever seen on a prospect including Patrick Mahomes. He’s playing an easy game of catch 50-60 yards down the field perfect spirals whizzing past the faces of defenders right into the hands of his receivers. And of course he has the amazing athletic ability as well and he seems really smart this is just a slam dunk homerun pick for the Jets it’s gonna be one of the best quarterbacks in the league for 15+ years.

As a jets fan fields was one of my favorite prospects ever and it hurt when we passed on him but its gonna be interesting to see how they both pan out
Never watched film on this kid....first analysis: he has tremendous arm strength and velocity on his throws, he was very accurate as well. He has enough speed to escape pressure and run some RPO at the next level. As long as he’s mature mentally he’s a clear cut top 10 pick.

I truly wish Zach Wilson could have faced off against Alabama last year. That is where we would have seen him shine or not against nfl ready players on defense. We could have seen how good he truly is under a lot of pressure and seen his accuracy and arm strength against those Alabama CBs :)
