38:59 thousand IQ play, play spells into the Enforcer and choose NOT to pay the 1, so that you can sacrifice your forests so you can block Chatterfang.
underrated line of play
came for this comment as well
Yes! It was particularly frustrating that when Seth is finally in a situation when not paying the 1 makes perfect sense, he finally decides to pay the 1!
The best part is that all those cards Seth got off thrasios were revealed! They just didn't look haha
I found this kind of infuriating. Just look at it ffs.
@@metatron8578 That's more a problem with the MODO meta imo the way it handles open information most of the time isn't very open at all
I see that Richard's plan to convince everyone to not run Swords to Plowshares is bearing fruit
Feel like there's a bit of a power disparity between Jodah Legendary Wizards and Atla Palani Elephans lmfao
Ya before even watching you can tell
And then elephants became archenemy immediately lol even with jodah taking extra turns
Yeah Jodah just does what Atla does on cast if a Legend rather than needing to tap an egg and then figure out how to crack it.
@@jo_kenI mean with Alta you’re polymorphing into big stuff and it creates card advantage by creating its own eggs to polymorph with even if you run out of gas. Atla is still a really good commander to be fair
Whoooo caaaares
Do elephants come out of eggs? -Seth as Jessica Simpson 2023
"and dolphins toooo"
Oh no. Misery isn't on the menu today!
With Crims draws it really wasnt
Crim: Now I feel bad!
Tomer, at the exact same time: *draws Triumph of the Hordes*
Neat
Whenever Tomer makes a joke before doing something cool something goes wrong. This time MTGO bugged out but remember when he literally said "you better not miss" and then made his land do double damage that turn?
SPOILERS BELOW
So Seth giving the counters to Richard actually incentivized him to kill two people by overextending and thus tapping out allowing Seth to kill him. Wonderful play by Seth just wonderful.
Very sneaky yes, but I feel like he should've seen through it and tried to make a deal with Tomer that if he killed Seth instead of him, Tomer would give him one more turn to survive. I think Crim was right in advising Richard to try to think of an alternative way to deal with Seth and potentially survive longer
Richard : Why do our games take so long? Also Richard : Refuses to finish off Tomer
Politicking isn't really a replacement for interaction, as two cards dominating the game might just go to show. Of course, even wholly unanswered voltron can't compete with solitaire and staples.
Crim was obviously popping off! We saw every card in his deck XD
So since Seth drew the assault formation, he would have gotten it with the One Ring, in addition to a bunch of other cards. The One Ring is always the right pick off a tutor.
Except your argument relies on being able to see the future.
Tutoring for card draw to hope you draw a specif card you could have used to tutor to get will always be a greedy line thats not correct.
@@JulioDRai your argument relies on being able to see the future just as much, if not more. What if the card you tutor for ends up not being needed? For example you tutor for assault formation but end up winning with enough infect that it doesn't matter? Or you tutor for assault formation, but get board wiped and have nothing to attack with? If you pick the One Ring, you might not get the exact right card you wanted from the start, that's true, but you will get a large quantity of cards, each of which has the opportunity to turn out to actually be the thing you needed.
There are going to be a ton of situations where you tutor for assault formation and die to the voltron player because you diidn't have any defensive plays, while the One Ring might coincidentally draw you into the counterspell or removal spell you ended up actually needing.
Unless you're literally winning on that turn or maybe the next turn, tutoring for one specific card you think you need over just getting a massive quantity of cards from the Ring is a massive gamble.
Even ignoring specific hypotheticals its just almost always objectively correct to get The One Ring
If an effect is essential to your deck you play multiple instances of it. 5 turns with the one ring = 15 cards as you almost never see it removed due to indestructibility. Assault formation could be easily removed leaving Seth in the same position.
There’s a very good chance you get another similar effect or another win con in those 15 cards. As we saw with Seth drawing Triumph/Akromas/assault formation. Not to mention likelihood of drawing another tutor/more draw to increase card draw velocity further.
The fact the Crim repeatedly stated he wouldn’t have countered Assault formation just the one ring proves the point. **IF** you are a good deck builder huge card advantage is always more powerful than a single card.@@JulioDRai
On this week of "Punt or Bluff?" We're the cool kids now! Will Crim put on his wizard hat and robe or will Seth just anaconda his way to victory? Tune-in to find out!
Ivorything in that Atla deck was eggcellent.
Tomer telling one dad joke per elephant... earned my like
Seths face when quotes Sir Mixalot 😂
Happy that the crew decides Swords to Ploughshares is good again. Welcome to the light
3:10 That Sadrix art is amazing! kekai kotaki has a pretty epic mtg portfolio
TODAY I WANTED MISERY ON THE MENU
Seth is thinking about Swords and Path when he should be thinking about all time great Wood Elemental!
Loved this episode, the elephant jokes were top notch this week lol
i love that the epic intro with the music just dramatically cuts to the spreadsheet of modo
I don't know how but every single turn cycle Seth forgot about the maze of ith but it was hilarious anyway
Gotta make 'em use it
This game is a massive lesson in hubris all around. Just fantastic - watch til the end!
Tribute to the world tree is supposed to draw on a creature with 3 power. Maybe banding screwed it up.
The tutor for payoff or card draw discussion feels like the buy packs or singles discussion lol
I'm glad I get to learn new things like how elephant come from eggs
I was going to be so sad seeing Esika as legendary tribal. I love my Esika legends deck lol
Last time they did this Tomer built Korvold exactly how you're supposed to build Korvold so I'm curious what he's going to do this time!
Seth there is a new card from Dr.Who that lets you swap creatures power and toughness until end of turn
Thank you for the "Forklift" Tomer
This is one of my favorite themes! The gameplay was super fun too!
Better to see Crim get mana flooded than mana screwed lol
Will everyone of you include Hammerheim in every red deck from now on after getting some forestwalk PTSD?
I wish squirrels laid eggs...
For some reason I somehow missed you guys had a CK affiliate code until now 🤦♂ Oh well, it's not like I'm not getting cards ever again so it's good to know.
Deck building idea: every week you do an impromptu ArchEnemy, where each week one person faces three other decks full of mechanics they hate. I.e. Seth v 3 tax decks
I am kinda confused as to why nobody saw Seth's Triumph of the Horde coming. Doesn't Thrasios reveal drawn cards?
what a finish!
Seth really pulled the Richard win haha
I had to pause and math! Tomer had enough mana to Triumph of the Hordes and swing out at Richard, plus Heroic Intervention for any possible Chatterfang response, plus 2 mana for the Ozolith two counters. He was extremely close to one-shotting Richard that turn but those 8 blockers meant he would have only gotten 7 poison. Any extra single creature would have done it but he only had an elephant egg! Either that or baiting Richard into sacrificing some squirrels in response to the Triumph, but that would have been risky.
1:25:00 shadrix is a may ability - not relevant here because giving richard a token doesn't hurt seth, but you CAN decline to use the ability
I'm never going to say no to drawing a card though...
Clash on!
This week of 'playing the deck wrong' kinda looks like: 'playing the way it should be played'.
Richard's deck makes Cfang not look boring as hell and Tomer building the world best defense is fantastic ! ! BIG EGGS
Seth was just trolling this game 😂
Atla defenders would be a fun weird build aswell
btw you can play jodah with only legendaries from before 1996 and he will still be oppresive
i would say he could even play mostly creature cards from legends and he would wipe the floor of most tables.
Wow I’m early! Hyped as always!
I love you.
@@waynefeller I love you too Wayne
I would've played Rhinos instead of elephants, just to mention the Lisa Simpson meme of " Wait! rhynos don't come from eggs" "What did you just see, Lisa?!"
Dude it would have been so funny to see Jodah Legends but from the legends block
Even if you're squeamish about paying life for Sylvan Library I think it's a card that will continue to be good. WotC is expanding more into top deck manipulation Commanders like Galea, Kindler of Hope and Sigarda, Font of Blessings and cards in the 99 like Realmwalker and Augur of Autumn. So as a two mana enchantment that can rearrange the top of your library and occasionally serve as an outlet for greed and is solid even in non-cEDH contexts.
I think still drops it's power from card advantage staple to synergy piece for kinda jank interactions. And it still does it way worse than the colorless scroll rack.
@@MakeVarahHappen It's the green Brainstorm. I wouldn't call fetch lands and tutors 'jank', but they are less common on Commander Clash.
@@exriel Fetchlands are not synergy pieces. They are the best fixing in the format. Tutors are also not the same? Lastly, brainstorm without the draw is Otherworldly Gaze, a 36 cent card no one plays. This is classic "magic player makes a comparison by changing twenty things about a card."
I just think there is so much better card draw in green I would never feel the need to play sylvan library in casual.
Just proves the One Ring is a Tutor Trap.
About 10 minutes into this weeks episode, im going to bet that Tomers going to win out of nowhere with Terastadon after everyone uses all their stuff to deal with Crim. Also seth is going to draw a lot of cards
SPOILERS
"Richard: GUYS, Would you be sad if Seth dies?
Tomer: No."
I fucking died laughing at this point, such great friends. GREAT EPISODE!
From Seth learning the important lessons of paying the 1 and having his cake and eating it too to that end!!!!
Tomer... Really how could you miss the meme elephant dung
Y does no one sacs their forests to elephant tax?! :o
Imagine Seth winning because of not paying the one. He could have referred to it till the end days while not paying the ones :D
Is Mithrill Coat actually good? what do you guys think?
If voltron, busted essential commander everyone wants to remove, extremely expensive commander, commander attack trigger, 99 combo piece protection, & to a degree commander with vigilance to always have an indestructible blocker then yes imo.
Today we learn that Seth apparently doesn't Run Anguished Unmaking.
CLASH ON!!!!
Is deflecting swat banned on commander clash?
I don't have to imagine 3 spelltithe enforcer. was playing against 2 stacks decks i was playing clones the 4th guy scooped there was well over 5 spelltithe enforcers out
Everyone could’ve just cast a spell then sacrificed a forest to the Elephant lol
I’m only half way through the video so idk if they figured this out or not.
I was really hoping Seth was playing my Esika/Prismatic Bridge list with Swans of Bryn Argoll as the only creature in the 99, but all 4 decks are super sweet this week.
Tomer, everyone knows its rhinos that hatch from eggs
MODO! Let us play with the elephants properly!
I feel like there’s no way for jodah not to be completely busted
Today I gave double strike with a Boros signet to a friend's 9/9 that was dealing damage to my 19-damage left girlfriend... who had a Bitterblossom on the battlefield.
I'm still laughing while trying to sleep in the couch.
Crim owes us so many clashs on's. XD
Oh my god it's not 3 hours long
Crim just refuses the Clash On
I have no idea what Seth's theme is...
That booty tho
Squirrel voltron lets goooooo
wtf? Misery's not on the menu?
Someone forced Crim to put lands in his decks and he's been upset to draw lands ever since
I'm 2/3 through, and waiting to see if tomer realizes that gift on takenos daisho exiles the squirrel, and the suspense is intense
He did not see it.
...and my axt
Chatterfang probably
Y did no one sacrifice their forests?
We aren't that smrt
Please read Thrasios guys!
I miss them trying desperately to avoid last place so they don't have to say clash on
Should have not paid the 1 to the elephant and sacrificed their forests
How did Seth not die to commander damage , Teferi protection stops life totals from changing but you still take commander damage?
Unless something pierced protection (I haven't watched the video), he doesn't take damage either.
@@1AlasBabylon just finished it , won’t spoil it but this does matter. There are a few modo bugs in this game.
@@manshark4099Teferi's protection gives you protection, which means you don't take damage, so no commander damage is dealt.
Teferi's protection gives you protection from everything and says your life total can't change. So normally if you would take any form of combat damage (normal, infect, commander) it's prevented. However, if you have a 'damage can't be prevented' effect, normal combat damage still won't do anything (since your life total can't change), but commander damage and infect damage will still be dealt and tracked and thus you can die.
You don't take any damage when you Teferi's Pro, commander damage included
This game would take literally 20 min on paper 😅
Hoping for every card to have downsides because that's what I do when I build decks with this vids description.
Isn't that cute.
BUT IT'S WRONG!
I like this group a lot, but I just can't sit and watch MTGO. I hope to see some paper play.
Who said new commanders wete broken? These elephants showing joda whos boss
I've never seen a more stolen game in my life. What an incredible line
Let's see, egglaphant tribal, Esika thiccnes, Jodah wizards... vs evasive voltron, kinda getting tired of this series, may just go back to watching against the odds and occasional random interesting sounding streams. People ignore removal, kids gloves Richard and in general skip following themes, well, Tomer tried, but he loses points for not having boars in his deck for some good ol "eggs and bacon".
Mtgo in 2023 is laughably bad. Get some webcams and spell table already
Can everyone ask Seth to NOT flick his cards when he is the weekly viewpiont for the video? It is quite distracting from the gameplay and makes it so I can't watch the screen and just listen to what is happening! Thanks!
You guys are really trying to stop me from watching your content.
i just ask 1 thing from seth, can you shuffle your cards in hand a little less.... its kinda annoying
its not a little annoying, its annoying as hell and I've complained about it on many videos. I HATE his POV.
