Sorry but the Bruce's force was not more than 10,000 and maybe only a half of that, the Bruce selected the ground with the burn and its bogs to help his defense. The battle bares no comparison to Gettysburg in my opinion.

Mmmgh. Amazing! (and if you're interested, that's the Brus; the Good Sir James [he was my Douglas ancestor's big brother technically, but my direct ancestor was there too]; and the Steward. Shame the painting doesn't depict Leamhnachd and mac Gilchrest, for they're my ancestors too, on the other side [so Walter the Steward is of both!], and they were also there. The Normans fought Normans for land and power. In Ireland the first Normans were invited in to help out a petty King and they went native. The Normans in Scotland didn't go native and married among their own, in 1707 they sold Scotland out and went back to their own at Westminster.

Sorry man but I can guess that since Macdonald wrote many of his own songs to existing tunes as well as singing trad scottish music, my guess is it is a relatively modern song but I could be wrong I mean come on its nice to pretend at least that soldiers sang it after the battle in celebration God some scottish battles put the irish war of independence which my ancestors fought and many died in to shame I had ancestors who fought in 1798 the ester rising and the battle of the boyne as well as culloden (with the scots and the English my family have had some serious daddy issues involving sassenach fathers and Celtic mothers so some were with the fathers side and some with the mothers like the clan Frazier) Prestonpans Stirling Falkirk killikrankie (again ancestors on both sides) and yes bannockburn (once again ancestors on both sides although only one from Lincolnshire fought with the scottish on my dads side and many more on my mothers side were with both armies) srry too much northrup/Barnard family history 101 lol

You'll have English songs aplenty on youtube to remember English soldiers and their heroism throughout history, but on videos specifically dedicated to celebrating a Scottish victory over the English, who by the way were invaders and had no right to be on that land, nobody expects (or probably even wants) to talk of fallen Englishmen. - from and Englishman

As was Edward of England, he killed 12 thousand men women and children in Berwick which led to the 32 year war with Scotland, which in the end Scotland won, due to the leadership of Bruce, Douglas and Randolph.
