I completely agree with you, Justine on how Tech can motivate us. Last year in September when I went to the doctor I had a scare I was 386 pounds. So that day I went to Walmart and bought me my Apple Watch series 7 and a smart scale. I tell you this, those were the best two purchases I ever made for myself. Those two things kept me on track. I always failed, trying to get fit, but with the analytics from the watch and the scale kept motivating me. Today I weigh 272 pounds. My goal is to get down to 250 or 225.

I am SO excited for you! We got certified about 2 years ago and were VERY QUICKLY obsessed. It's the best community, so fun, so welcoming.. and BEAUTIFUL! We are getting our AOW in early July in Cozumel and are STOKED! Trading in my reg apple watch for the ultra before that trip just for the dive computer. I know there is better diving tech out there, but for a few dives/year at relatively shallow depths, it's perfect for me. Welcome to the scuba world!!
This was a great story. So proud of you going through the fear, not giving up, being an overcomer! In exchange of those few minutes of stepping outside of your comfort zone, you will be a certified diver now for the rest of your life!
I like to travel light so just brining my favorite mask, fins GoPro and Apple Watch Ultra on dive trips.

Conrats on getting certified! Diving is such an incredible experience! Im scuba certified but dont live in a place that has many scuba spots to justify buying my own dive computer. But the Apple Watch Ultra seems so enticing because I can use it as an apple watch and a dive computer for when I do go dive once or twice a year. It would be very cool to have dive info stored on that and being bale to look at it on my phone in the future.
Congrats Justine thatâs awesome, i just recently got the Ultra and Iâm loving it the battery is awesome compared to my series 7 that i had.
Itâs my favourite piece of tech Iâve had in yearsâŠ..I barely use any of its extreme features but it so awesome. And holds me with Apple more than any other product Iâve ever used. I use windows computer, Google services but iPhone, watch and buds pro â€
I bought my Ultra at the beginning of May specifically as a dive computer. Itâs first dip in the water two weeks later was on a cenote dive in Mexico. It died within 10 feet of the surface. Like DEAD, completely. A brand new Ultra. Not only that but the Apple Store refused to exchange it claiming water damage isnât a covered reason for returns and it would have to be sent for repair! I eventually reached someone on Appleâs phone support and a replacement is currently in the mail, but man this whole process has been *super* frustrating.
All that said, welcome to scuba diving!! Itâs impossible to express how amazing of an activity it is, you just have to get out there and explore. Even after doing it for years and years in different conditions and environments across the globe Iâm still constantly amazed at the new things I see. The cenote dive I just mentioned is a great example and one of the most surprisingly beautiful dives Iâve ever been on. The fascinating rock formations, transitioning above and below the halocline, looking through cobalt blue light shafts up at the green forest and exotic birds overheadâŠit totally blew me away.
But yes, your video contains an excellent reminder for all divers: always have a backup. And from personal experience, be very wary about relying on the Apple Watch as a safety-critical piece of equipment.
The Ultra is the best watch iâve ever had, works amazing day to day in my job in education and in my extra activities outside of work inc kayaking, sailing & cycling. Itâs especially great in the lovely rainy british weather đ I use the train loop also so comfortable I LOVE IT! Thanks for another awesome video sending all the love from the UK đŹđ§

Iâm thinking about getting certified into scuba diving so sharing your journey was much appreciated. Helps me gain perspective starting out on that hobby and would definitely like to own an Apple Watch Ultra for that.

I got the Ultra shortly after launch and it's been pretty fantastic. Wayyy more durable than regular models. I had an S4 and S6 before and both looked like hell cosmetically after a year (I have an outdoor job). My Ultra still looks pretty much new.
I agree the ultra is way more durable than the Series line. I somehow smashed the screen on my series 3.

Loving my Ultra as well đ Apple Watch in general has really helped me to a healthier lifestyle after a herniated disc and the pandemic.
Running with the AWU on the wrist, a good playlist going and tracking my improvements in pace, distance and VO2 is so great along with sleep tracking.

I just ordered my Apple Watch Ultra today and should receive it tomorrow. As a diver, I am excited to try it as we in the dive community are a bunch of nerds anyway and love our gadgets! After watching your video I am even more excited to receive my watch now bc I just traded in the Apple Watch 4 for it. Good job and if you ever can get to dive the Kitty Wake in the Grand Caymans you will be thrilled after the dive! It is awesome.
Iâve been a viewer for a long time, but never commented. I have been diving for 30 plus years, and it has brought me great joy and many good friends. I have traveled all around the world diving and there are many wonderful places, but some of the best are nearby in the Caribbean and Mexico. Cozumel is the best bang for the buck anywhere. I look forward to your future videos on everything, but now especially scuba!

I bought a used Apple Watch 7 around the end of last year because i wanted to start keeping track of my runs. At the time i could barely run down the block without needing a break.. the watch really motivated me to start running, closing my rings, and overall just keep better track of my health! Now I can easily run 5 miles nonstop no problem and im excited to see how far the watch takes me! Thanks for making this video @iJustine
Iâm so happy for you!! I bought the apple watch to use as my secondary dive computer. I was absolutely terrified of diving when I got my certification. I had a panic attack and had to leave the first certification dive minutes into being in the water. But I kept trying and having conquered such a huge fear while having so much fun puts you on top of the world. Iâm so pumped to see dive gear and underwear photography related videos!

I was scared of water too. I drowned a couple of times, once in a river and once in an ocean. I almost gave up during my PADI OW certification. I pushed through and got certified. Iâm so happy you worked through and did it too. Thailand is a nice place to dive with very clear waters and so are the islands of Andaman and Lakshadweep. Check them out. Good luck with your dives.

I love scuba diving I did my PADI open water back in 2012 during school holidays. It was great fun. I think scuba diving is always scary at the first time but once you've got over it then the fear isn't as bad
The Ultra is my daily driver & I can get about 3 full days of use before I need to charge. I love it! I still have my Series 7 Space Black Titanium model if I need a fancier watch but those instances really have been few & far between. I use my Ultra daily & it's so rugged & durable I just don't worry about it. Absolutely love this watch!

Love love love my Apple Watch ultra. Iâve done several half marathons but because of the ultra, i am now motivated to do a full marathon. đ
A great video and I'm really pleased you enjoyed diving in the Maldives. It's one of my favourite places to dive. However, although the AWU can act as a dive computer it's far from the best. It's only rated to 40mtrs and only single gas. As your diving progresses you will want to use Nitrox and then multi-gas for accelerated decompression and then trimix for deeper dives. As an advanced trimix diver I'm qualified to dive to 100m so I need my computer to be rated to at least 200m. I wish you well though, enjoy your diving and your kit will grow with you.
I have the Apple Watch ultra, along with my 14 plus. The ultra was is a tank and the battery life is nuts, right now my watch is at 66% and I charged it over 24hrs ago. The battery life of the ultra and 14 plus are two devices meant for each other, yeah the pro is nice but that dynamic island is definitely a gimmick and not a deal breaker for me. I use both Android and iPhone, so I have a s23+ also. So if I need the telephoto lens I just use that one, but if you have the money for the Apple Watch ultra. I definitely recommend it đđœ
Love it when people say battery life is nuts and they can only use it 3 daysâŠ..4 months ago i swapped from apple watch 8, to a garmin fenix 7 solar and now I have 21 days of battery. Lifes been great
Try a Garmin, 3 weeks of battery and counting!
To those recommending a Garmin, I do use one with my android phone. I use the ultra for my iPhone since itâs works better together and my Garmin and Samsung work better together. The battery life does outlast the ultra, easily no question. But compared to the other Apple Watches the ultra holds up way better. If youâre wondering I use the Fenix 7x - Sapphire Solar Edition

My Apple Watch Ultra uses about 1% per hour most days. Took mine off charge at 4am and itâs now at 98% at 10am. Love my ultra.
Iâve been diving since 2007. Definitely recommend the advance open water certification. Although Iâm not a fan of night diving

do you recommend it for people who dont do jogging or climb the Everest? like what are the ordinary day utilities besides checking notifications and using cronometer for cooking your spaghetti? does it have a built-in taser in case you get an aggression? can u buy stuff directly from it via online stores? can you talk to siri like a 007 agent?
The fear of water is real đšđšđš I just learned to swim at 36 and I still have that fear, but I do feel like having the swim workouts on my Apple Watch while I was learning made me see how well I was improving! So proud of you đđŸ maybe Iâll get there one day đ„°

Love the Apple Watch, been using them since watch 4 and switched to galaxy for a few months for a change and I still feel Apple Watch is more user friendly than the other. I have completed few Ironman but can you believe it when I tell you I am afraid of the open sea?đ during race, i just focus on swimming but honestly diving and open water scares me because of the vastness and the creatures insideđ ⊠I have tried diving few years ago but nope I canât get pass my ability to equalise and kept forgetting to breath in the O2.. will just stick to running and biking.

I have the 7 and I love it but battery life just isnât good enough for me so Iâm finally getting an ultra and I canât wait to use it. The crash detection on the watch is awesome and it helped out when I get into Ana accident a couple of weeks ago. I loved the turtle shot I think they are beautiful.

Scuba certified since 1997. Always dive with a buddy. Always. Laguna, CA is a great dive spot! Catalina is also cool with the kelp forests. Have fun and donât get bent!

@Justine, did PADI International still issue a diving licence? I did my open water course a few years back, and got a diving licence to use anywhere in the world. Providing its PADI certified, unfortunately, I left it behind when we went for a dive in the gulf of Aqaba.
How did the salt water affect the watch? Wondering if the salt is corrosive to the watch and does the watch keep the water out of the watchâs internal mechanisms?

I would love to see you explore underwater photography with quality gear. Additionally, you could use your Apple Watch Ultra and work on keeping that resting HR low by doing a series on triathlon training.
Now I want to get an Apple Watch ultra but am trying to wait until September to see if a new one comes out! I agree the app,e watch helps with health. I have the series 8 and having the watch really motivates me to close my rings and work out! I love having all three rings light up when I close them every day!

Im so glad you didn't went in with the trial loop. I dove off a rock wearing it thinking it was stronger than the regular sportloop, thankfully realised just in time it got loose before the ultra made its way into the ocean. *I no longer go swimming with it.
I dove with it the other 3 days and it was great!

I really love my apple watch (currently on a series 7), but I get really frustrated when I'm tracking my walks and the app keeps randomly pausing the workout while I'm walking.

My Apple Watch ultra accompanied by my Apple Watch SE best combination ever. I wear my Apple Watch SE when Iâm charging my Ultra. I have a royal Caribbean cruise and Iâm going to get the cert started on the cruse in the pool and finish it up in the Bahamas. My ultra is my GPS for work. My running buddy every weekend at the track. I use fitness plus daily. My nutrition coach. I have the iPhone because of the Ultra (and apple wallet đ ) great video I absolutely love it.
Iâve been diving in the Red Sea for years now (got my license when i was like 12yo) since my mom bought a second home in Egypt (in a gated community called Sahl Hasheesh) Red Sea is amazing for diving
