- There are a lot of road bike helmets out there and very little time. So James has rated and reviewed 25 of the lids you’re probably already considering - with no B.S. They all have their pro's and con's and it's quite surprising how different helmets can be! In this video we try and test 25 of the best road lids and cover all of the main points including safety, fit, style, comfort, weight, aero design, venting and price. Even if they can hold a set of sunglasses well. We'll compare them all equally against each other so you'll have a good idea of what will be right for you and your riding needs. You'll hopefully get that Cinderella moment!

Abus airbreaker was the best comfort fit to me and looks cool(imho), also MET helmets look good. Ah, also Lazer helmets are cool looking.
They picked someone who basically looks great in any type of helmet. They need to invite me on to show them how bad fitting some of these helmets are…

Legitimately the primary stat I care about on each one. 😆 If yes on shroom, the helmet is a no for me. Thanks adding, so smart.
Thank you for great test, rare possibility to look at the helmets side by side. Very helpful as I am trying to find an alternative to my Airbreaker.
The only point, a few helmets are still quite shroomy even as you said they aren‘t. Of course it‘s subjective.

For the Kask Mojito 3 - feels like it’s a bit off center when put on the head. I tried adjusting mine so many times but I still get it wrong. Happy to see that I am not the only one
I just bought the POC Omni Air Mips. I like the look of it far more than the ventral. The fit seems great! I got the large size helmet and I think it says 370g on it. A good 100g more than my old Bontrager Ballista helmet. I wasn't going for aero this time around but more closed at the top helmet to fend off rain even for a little bit.

Lazer lids are great - worn a few of them over the years and they’ve been great. Just couldn’t fit any more in this review 😅 cheers
how does the giro aries compare to the kask valegro in terms of fit? currently have a valegro (M) because it's wide enough but I'm wondering if the aries is similar in width.
I love the fit of both. I think Giro and Kask (and BELL if you're wondering) fit very similar shape and sized head's. So if you've worn a Valegro comfortably i'd be pretty certain a Aries would fit you well too. Hope that helps

What helmet would you recommend the most between Giro Aries, MET Trenta (basic one) and Kask Protone? Can't decide and need your help 😆🤣
I mean as you know I massively rate all 3. You can’t go wrong but I love the look of the Protone. The Trenta is also brilliant…. Ahhh I don’t know whatever you can get the best price on 🤣

Abus Gamechanger, surprising that they fit your sunnies. Imagine your surprise when you realise they designed the ‘Air Port’ at the back to hold sunnies securely whilst minimising effect on aerodynamics. 😍😍😍

I'm pretty new to bike riding. After spending £2k on a carbon mountain bike today I thought I'd top it off with MET Trenta 3K Carbon helmet after watching your review. Managed to bag one for just over £200 from Fawkes Cycles. Cheers!
The Protone is still one of the best I’ve ever used, unfortunately I’ve grown my hair and me medium doesn’t fit anymore. I am thinking of going to a POC helmet now
Agreed! I know the feeling as a few years ago I had hair down to my shoulders. Love POC lids so great choice 🙌
I just ordered the MET 3k Carbon. I honestly don’t need it but our company gave a really big bonus so why not 🤷🏻♂️ I wish the iridescent blue was available in the States.

For the Kask utopia one, it does not hold glasses. Even when you stuff it onto the top of the helmet. I have drop a pair on the ride before just like that. Very sad day for the glasses😢

You went through the absolutely painstaking process of rating this many helmets in this many categories, could you please please please tally the rankings and provide your top 3 pics in the categories of performance, comfort, and budget. Would be so amazing!!
I just bought a MET Trenta 3K Carbon Size L. My head is a 58cm but the medium felt like a tourniquet. The LG has significantly more mass than the M (the L is meant for 58-61cm). It weighs 326g. So, while this excellent Wiggle video has it as weighed in at 223g, that must be for the small.

Woah, no Lazer? scoring as one of the top helmets for safety by Virginia Tech test and one of the lightest helmets on the market and all this with reasonable price - and you didn't include it?

I’m so between POC omne and Kask Mojito 3. Which one would you choose?
I was also between choosing these models and when I tried on both, I immediately realised that my choice is Mojito 3🙂 For me personally, it was a big difference in comfort and feel ;) I haven't bought it yet but I definitely know which one I'll get soon.

I would suggest the mushroom may stop you losing skin on your face in an accident.

Good review, thank you. The only metric you didn't address, and which I'd suggest for future helmet reviews, is front visibility - many helmets have an overhang or fit low on the forehead, resulting in an annoying blob on overall visibility, or otherwise interfere with glasses clearance - too low and the glasses hit the overhang.

Small helmets look mostly good. When it comes to the largest size the looks getting worse aka shroomy. I've tested many of them and for me the Abus Airbreaker is the anti-shroomy king by far.
Yeah 100% slimmer lids always look better 🤟
POC Omne Air is definitely not mushroom

As a former bike messenger in NYC for 3 years (in the dark ages before it became bike friendly) I didn't and still dont wear a helmet. I bike on avg about 13,000 miles a year and have done so every year since the mid 90s.
Not wearing a helmet keeps me extra alert because i have no sense of security in the case of a crash. That said, ive recently starting doing BIG ascents and descents in the mountains of Socal (10,000' of gain/loss per ride), and the descent speeds are in excess of 55mph. So im considering it, esp the Spherical which offers some compelling features

@@wiggle Hey thanks for looking - my bad for not being specific, though, I meant the OMNE air MIPS. I got my helmet from Wiggle for a great price, but the pads are impossible to buy (I like to get a backup set as the helmet always seems to outlast the pads).
this is basically a helmet style review. U dont even test ride them for any amount of time & talk about its comfort rating lol

How many cyclists suffered head injury pre helmet ? In percentage terms the number is so small it's almost invisible most suffered broken bones so what next body armour your being mugged off it's just about how you look as this vid proves
