  • The Adidas Adizero Adios 8 and Adidas Adizero Boston 12 are both great running shoes that benefitted from several updates this year, the main one being Adidas upgrading the Lightstrike EVA foam that makes up part of the midsole along with Lightstrike Pro. The Adios is more of a speed-focused shoe, while the Boston can handle pretty much everything. In this video Nick talks through the pros and cons of each, and says which will suit different types of runners.

Boston 12 is a sensational shoe. The final nail in the coffin on the move away from Nike.

On the trainer side yes but I think for track spikes Nike is still better

I’ve had the Boston 12’s less than a month. I’ve already got PB’s in the half marathon and the 10K. I’m blown away by them. Keep up the great work btw.

Ran my first marathon in the Boston 12's last week. Done all the marathon training in them too, cant fault them at all.

I put Adidas into my rotation this year beginning with the Boston 12 and I agree with you Nick, they do everything you can ask of them. Yes I was a little concerned with the lack of heel cushion but to be honest it's not been a problem (I do heel lock them too). I use these for temp, easy, long runs throwing in intervals and all manner of training. When I'm just on a speed, track, hills etc I use the Takumi Sen 9. The Adios 8 sounds very similar. The Takumi is so light and responsive it's a great racer for 5k, 10 k type distances too.

I even liked the Boston 10 when it came out, looking forward to trying out the 12.

Have both, and both are great! They are light and breathable, you really feel that when it's hot.
Coming from Supernova or Adistar, I have found Boston 12 a little harder, thought that should help the performance.
I use Adios for sprints and fast short runs, on tracks and treadmills. I use Boston for any race or serious training over 12k.

Great video. Big fan of previous models (Boston 9 and Adios 6), and while I've already picked up a pair of Boston 12's, it wasn't clear to me what Adidas were intending to achieve with the two models you've compared here. Adios is feeling at risk of redundancy though...!

Can’t recommend the Boston 12 more highly. The Adistar did my training in getting back into running early this year and I switched to the Boston for doing the 2023 Great Eastern Run (half marathon). Was a total game changer and I shaved 14 minutes off my PB. I account a large part of that to the Boston 12 😀

Boson 12 is good for me for tempo to threshold runs. One slight gripe i have is the outer ankle collar rubs on my ankle more when cornering.
For me its a firmer more responsive shoe than say a speed 3. The pro 3 is still my favourite in my rotation though. Whatever the boston does the pro 3 does it better

Boston 12 is up there with the speed 3 for me. I don't have any problem with the fit, only a bit fiddly getting them on due to the thin tongue.

My Boston 12's have an upper I would describe as cheap and uninspired. However, running them is great fun. I can do long runs in them without issue. My second favorite shoes next to Deviate Nitro 2

    @andriboh Před 8 měsíci +2

I usually run 5k up to half marathon and use the Adios as the trainer for the Takumi Sen. As a long run, tempo shoe I prefer the deviate nitro 2, especially for the upper, it's much more comfortable than the Boston

I'm confused with the fit of boston 12😢.
with the adios 8, I get perfect fit in my US10/28cm. Like you said, US10 in adidas equates to UK9.5 instead of UK9 like in other brands.
With the boston 12, if I opt for US10/28cm, it is a bit too long and too wide, but if I down size to US9.5 (UK9) 27.5cm, it feels a bit too short and a bit too narrow.
I know the length difference is only 5mm, but somehow it makes me insecure. I'm planning to use it for longruns, so if it's too tight and too short I may get problems at the end of longruns. However, I just can't get pass how I need to really tighten the laces if I use my usual US10 size, and how it will affect my stride if the shoe is a bit too long.
quite confused here at the moment 😂.

Disappointing to hear about the heel issues. I have had no problems with heel in the Takumi Sen 8, but I only run 5 miles or less in them.

Is Boston’s 12 good for 1500 meter and 100 meter speedy for time trial .¿

Really think the Takumi Sen is a better option than both of these shoes. Just plain beats the Adios at everything, and has enough stack to beat the Boston at everything minus super long runs, which I'd probably use a different shoe for anyways. I keep wanting try and race the Takumi Sen8 at a half marathon, but I keep wussing out and use my AlphaFly's :/ But at all my hard efforts when I compare my metrics via my Stryd foot pod, the Alphafly buries the Takumi Sen by a large margin.

as good as the takumi sen is, the very narrow midfoot just doesn't work for everyone.. (including myself, unfortunately).
