Goon is an older word, originally meaning: a man who is paid to threaten or hurt people but in the UK is also slang for a silly or stupid person. What is the GenZ version?
Also 'Chad' has been in use since about 2000 and has the same meaning, so not a 'new' word.

So I’m convinced that my brother’s friends made up the slang “bet” cause in high school (they are late twenties now) they used to say “bet” as a challenge instead of saying “you wanna bet?” And then they started using it so much in multiple ways like “that’s a bet” like “that’s really cool” just perpetuating it into slang oblivion and now here we are lol
Dank was definitely one I was using in that context before gen z. Stoner culture was using that at the very least early 2000's as a way to say something is good or high quality.

By the way cap has a legitimate reason for being a lie. People back in the day lost their teeth a lot so they had caps (fake teeth caps) and so someone would say like cap? And they would say “no, these are not caps, real teeth I promise.” And then you take that and apply Gen z language (generally just bad grammar to make a phrase shorter) and you get “No Cap.” There you go. You now know how the word cap turned into a lie. Because if you had a cap you were lying about your teeth. 😂

I grew up in urban culture so naturally I still use some slang. I turn it on & off depending on who I'm conversing with. Funny how slang gets recycled & sometimes takes on new meanings for a different generation. I'm a '90's teenager so "Dank" was one of several words for weed! I admit that even during my teens I thought some of it didn't make sense, just like today, so I didn't use some of it. I only keep up now in order to relate/ communicate with younger generations. Many of them work for me or have played AAU basketball for me or gone on summer Mission trips with me. It forces me to keep up lol!
