Oh no no no way! You did the right thing! Ick, Goodwill! If you look into their business practices you'd be really amazed. If they can't promise a refund, then no way. And now I see it was a fake. How do they get away with this? It's not legal to even sell fakes! Good job not falling for that! Also I saw a comment down below about the music and have to say that you are so NOT boring Hadrian! I'm so torn about Goodwill it's a great place to source (around here we're lower income so it's the only store that gets imports from elsewhere so there's the possibility of higher end merchandise).
But.. I'm disabled. And knowing that they pay disabled workers well below minimum wage makes me ill. :( And they can get away with it because of government loopholes. I'm trying to build a business so I don't have to work at places like goodwill (because a lot of places won't hire disabled workers) and it's very frustrating that they are one of my only options.

Thanks for talking about the Fendi repair service. I have a structured '60's Fendi pocketbook with a lapis lazuli clasp. Straight out of Mad Men! It needs stitching repair. I should take it to a leather artisan. I have a curio cabinet filled with cute bags, small leather goods, and beaded belts in my bedroom because I like to view them, and I can only wear one at a time.

I found a gorgeous Prada bag in Goodwill but not many high-end bags, mainly Coach. Michael Kors,, Kate Spade and Dooney and Bourke. The majority of my high-end bags have been through Mercari, Poshmark and a few from EBay.
+camuyana I am obsessed with mercari, Poshmark, eBay, depop, vinted, the real real, and tradesy. I've found such great deals on there too, though I must say most of the best deals I have ever found were at the goodwill. I'm working on a best goodwill finds video. And I think I am definitely going back tomorrow morning to the thrift to see if the bag is still available. It probably will be if they refuse to sell it lower. They did tell me they might sell it on shopgoodwill.com, but the other girl working there said things like that always get sent back to the store, lol. But the price was horrendous. I'm going to see if I can talk to the store manager and see if I can get them down. Otherwise I found an authentic one in brand new condition on eBay for 1,999. Though, I would never spend that much on a bag. Unless it was Hermés or something. Maybe a Chanel classic flap. Lol.

I think you made the right choice in not buying the bag. Not worth it if there are damages and if authenticity is not guaranteed. $2400 is a lot of money. It's hard to let it go if the bag is something you fall in love with but I believe if it's meant for you then things would of gone more smoothly. I believe you will find many more beautiful designer bags in your future 😉

+Michelle4 exactly! They were selling it as if they guaranteed authenticity and they never "guaranteed" authenticity before. I'm going to go back tomorrow and see the bag again (if it's there) because I'm dumbfounded with the price and I'm going to do my research tonight and figure out everything I need to look for to try and authenticate it and maybe the manager will be in the store and I can ask them about it. And I feel like I was being too generous with that $700, lol. I think I should have capped it at $400 like I initially offered, but they didn't want to budge from the $2450 anyway.

The price is not fair given that they could not guarantee authenticity. Now, what they need to do is pay to have bags of that caliber authenticated, so that their prices are justified. I understand your conflicted feelings, though.

Hili!!!! And no worries at all! That's actually a pretty good question. Up until I found this bag at the store I never really thought much about looking into purchasing the bag so I wasn't too sure at resale value and all that stuff. As for how much I would have resold the bag, there was no way I would have been able to resell the bag and make a profit in the state the bag was in. I actually found the same bag, brand new, at about the same price. This would have been in my personal collection. I think I need to make an update video on this bag, because I did a lot of research on it when I got home, and I did go back to the store the next day to get a better look at it once I did my research and talked to some knowledgeable experts.
Oh, and the bag was actually in fact fake, so it was priced waaaaaaaaaaay too high.
They can ask for anything they want (price wise), but that doesn't mean they'll get that. With the damages and all, I doubt they'll get anything close to that.

You can find amazing things at GW. I just thrifted a vintage Givenchy scarf from GW, for 99 cents, and much more. I'm not surprised they wouldn't budge on the price though and glad you walked away. The right decisions are never easy! What brand bag was the smaller black one under the Fendi??? That one caught my eye!
+Bridget thanks! Yes! The goodwill is stock full of amazing finds. I was just so astounded by the price of this Fendi. I wish I caught the conversation I had with the assistant manager on camera. She was pretty much telling me the bag was guaranteed authentic even though I know for a fact that they never guarantee authenticity of brand names products like that.
Oh, were you talking about the wallet? It was a Prada wallet. I looked at it. I'm almost certain it was authentic, but it's fabric and the fabric was damaged and fraying on the corners, so it wasn't worth purchasing, though it was in pretty good condition save for those corners.

GW is out of their minds! I have been very frustrated with thrift stores lately because of the markup on donated bags! I have been sticking to posh and mercari lately.
In my experience it depends on the store and whoever is pricing at the time, because I have seen very expensive bags marked at 5.99 and awful replica plastic bags marked at $200, but in this particular case I feel like it is a little much, but whatever, lol.

I would ask myself how many starving children would $2450 feed? lol . but good thing you didn't get it. Goodwill is known for over pricing anyway. you will find another one I'm sure, at a steal. I once saw an item there priced at $15. I turned it upside down and the original price tag was still on there, it was the same as the Goodwill price. I took it to one of the workers and told them. she took it back and they repriced at $8. the sweet deal was after I got home and checked my receipt, they only charged me $3.99. 😀
I think you did a good job by not buying that bag that bag is a knock off it's not the real thing you would have wasted your money and that's for real Goodwill sells fake shut all the time and then puts like it's a real deal and high prices and people get took by them everyday so be careful when you're buying if you can't see it open up and really look at it and you don't know what it is don't buy it

Agreed! I don't know what prompts people to donate most of the bags that I find and purchase, but I'm grateful for it. Though this style of the Fendi Peekaboo is relatively new, so I don't know why someone would. It's not like it's beyond repair (as long as they had the receipt and could take it back to Fendi. At least the foot repair would be free since that's not really a wear and tear type of repair. Anyway, there are obviously some crazy people donating some awesome bags since I see them quite frequently, but in this case I feel like it's priced waaaay too high for a store that's policy is that they cannot authenticate designer goods, and in this case, they have priced and have actually told me that the item is authentic, so that's where I was a little taken aback.

Ferdi is a highly replicate item especially the monster collection. Those everything could look right there is super fakes going around that are 1:1 replicas. Because the monster collection is so highly valued, it is going to be hard to find a detail that could say it is fake. What Ferdi bags do have are RFID holograms that could be scanned or shown to a Ferdi rep and that could possibly say it is authentice. Hope this helps
+Zachary Obero actually, that does really help. And I totally forgot about those holograms. This bag may or may not have had one... I need to take a look. I am probably going back tomorrow just cause I'll be in the area anyway and if it's still there I will definitely take a look. I think I was so stunned to see it and I don't know any Fendi authenticator a that would have gotten back to me while I was still there and since they weren't budging in price anyway I didn't really want to push it further. But you're right, fendi monster is super highly replicated. But this bag felt really good. You know how a solid authentic designer bag just feels so solid and amazing in your hands? Though this is the age of the mega replicas that are almost impossible to distinguish and this bag came out around that time, so it's highly possible.
+itsHadrian lol yeah leather could be a huge giveaway but I heard that replicas and replica bag makers are buying from the same leather vendors and hardware vendors as the real ones. It is common for designer brands to not have their own "leather farms" so they buy bundles of leather from vendors. Many of the skins are already treated so replica bag makers could make the same product. I remember reading an article somewhere of replica bag maker( making fake miu miu ) using the same exact hardware as the hardware used in real Miu Miu bags. Otherwise it looks good on camera! Yeah and look at the RFID hologram and see if it comes off easily as if it was just glued on. Real ones are quiet hard to get off. Also look at the stitches. I believe the Ferdi monster uses the selleria stitch as it shows on the plaque in the bag. The plaque should also be made of sterling silver as indicate on the bottom of the plaque and maybe the people at goodwill have a silver detecting device.

It's crazy that they even make replica coach and Michaels kors and they literally sell them for almost the same price as the real things. I have to check the hologram. I did see the plaque though and I did see that it was sterling silver and had the stamp. Darn this bag! I found a Chanel GST that I was able to get authenticated over the phone and that was only $100. They're killing me.
