Not true. Division has been happening since the birth of the church. The Lord Jesus spoke of this (Matt 13:24-30) Paul spoke of it in multiple Epistles. There was a council in Jerusalem in the book of Acts chapter 15. I thank God, all glory to Him for the council that brought us the Holy Bible. It is God who preserved His word, through men, it is God who rules and reigns, and guides, and strengthens, His saints to carry out His will. All glory to God, Father, Son & Holy Spirit, forever. Amen.

Hi Matthew. You are right that division was there from the beginning, including Marcianism, the Gnostics, etc, etc., but what Father Panayiotis is saying here is that the challenge of Arius to the unity of the Church was the most serious one since the Church was able to speak and worship after the Edict of Milan. Arius was an educated, eloquent and influential priest and the number of priests and bishops influenced by him was very significant. The stakes also were very high because the main issue was the most serious one facing the Church since the beginning, as Arius was disputing the Divinity of Christ, a foundational doctrine of Christianity. This was the first time that the Church had a Universal Council, where bishops were physically brought from around the Empire to participate in the debates. This is what Father Panayiotis was speaking about, and there was nothing false about this point, which he is trying to make here.

Human fallibility no man is perfectl not even saints which is a misnomer. It does not mean holy in the Roman church view, just means to be separate
