Access Astroneer savefiles:
If you're playing Astroneer on Steam, you can find your save game files at this path: %LocalAppData%\Astro\Saved\SaveGames
To access your saves from the Microsoft store version of the game it's a little bit trickier than on Steam, but still relatively easy. You can find them at this path: %LocalAppData% - Packages - SystemEraSoftworks followed by random text - wgs - a folder that has a random name (random letters and numbers) - another folder with a random name
If that isn't very helpful, just follow these steps:
Open up your Local AppData folder by pressing WINDOWS + R, pasting %LocalAppData% into the text field, and hitting OK:
Once inside your Local AppData folder, go into the Packages folder.
Then, from within the Packages folder, go into a folder that has a name starting with SystemEraSoftworks followed by random letters and numbers.
Go into the wgs folder, and then into a folder that has a long name of random letters and numbers.
Finally, go into the other folder that has a name which is random letters and numbers and you'll finally be in your save files folder!

Ive corrupted a multiplayer game because astroneer said "haha you should be able to pick up minerals like a research item for the first 5 seconds you load in" and then i let my impulsive thoughts win and it died

Nice video btw, I know most of it but it’s very concise and easy to understand.
For Information I buyed the steam and xbox version and i think that the xbox save only in the cloud so you can only duplicate it in the menu ( so we can't share our world )
Kuya its amazing the fact that you went from 60 something subs to 30.3k in 2 years keep up the hard work!
On the Windows version you can go between Xbox and pc as the cloud save transfers across as long as you log in with the same account on both.

I’ve maxed out the file size for all games and do not want to lose my world. Your video here showed a lot of save files and the one you clicked was decently sized, how can I keep playing without dumping my saves? Do you use your own server?
Just keep making copies as shown in the videos, you may have no problem at all, but it's better to have a plan b in case something goes wrong

Can anyone help? My game still works, its a save i used for a long time but event items dont seem to appear in my world, like i can start the current Cheer even but no boxes show up and i dont want to print a bunch of stuff just to beat it. Also had this problem with the farming one for halloween but had all the resources from last year
Oh interesting. I go out of my way not to make big adjustments to the terrain. Given this i think i might look into creating a scrap factory for getting organics/carbon (main reason i deform terrain is for soil).

One world I had (it’s an old one) I had an auto extractor. It was part of an important farm so I noticed quickly when it didn’t work. I went to check it out when I tried to move it my game crashed. So When I decided to load back in and blow it up, my game crashed. After a few tries with different methods I gave up and started a new world. :(

Big tip: You only have to activate ONE gateway chamber to unlock the core, not all of them.

This video brings back painful memories, especially because I pioneered a lot of methods of save file optimization.
Quick note though. Save file corruption in planetary destruction instances isn’t due to the terrain actually, it’s always due to uncollected resource nuggets that seriously eat into performance. Size does affect initial load times, but it’s resources that will directly make you crash on loading a file or loading a specific location.
Can't wait for the new update video to come from you, as im currently lost on what to do. There is something said about animation called, cosmic animation. some other little things in there are borritos oxomation 002 & omnugget & other things as well that are plant related. So im lost on it. If i find them i guess i keep them ? will do that for now tho.
& some strange talk about a resource that combines compound & resin as well, that 1 was strange.

Ever since terraria I make sure to make duplicates
It just makes no sense for me that the files get bigger when you remove soil
The game basically loads the original state of the world and then applies whatever differences to the original terrain there are now, sometimes you can even see that happening in the game. It doesn't load all that dirt in a new world, but it has to load a lack of dirt where there has been dirt before and additional dirt where there wasn't.
