I found you can use regular ziploc bags just fine. Add water to the bag enough to cover the fish (not slam full) and freeze that way. Thaws and cooks like fresh and a littler cheaper material wise.
Would like to see one opened in 18 months. PS Sorry to hear of Steve passing. He was a one of a kind. I miss his videos.
Dig it! Gonna give it a go. But also keep in mind, water boils off in a vacuum. Freeze first then vacuum bag it.
Larry- I will agree with other commenters that your fish bag had a lot of air in it still. I try and eat what I seal up (food saver) within a year. I have had very good luck when double sealing the food saver bags. Anything else I would consider freeze drying for longer terms. How did you seal the Mylar bags? Can you post a video? Also- I seal up all the tobacco you taught me how to grow. Phenomenal!
Been wondering about the father of the rain gutter system..welcome back...been a cold winter huh.
Thanks for sharing this great information.
Your $400 vac master didn't look like it sealed that fish very good at all. You could see the air bubbles all over it.

What a great idea! I just found 7"X10" maylar bags at Walmart for $36/100!
I like your thinking : ) It doesn't quite have the punch of a 'More From Thor' article, but the science is airtight.
Those days of taking a steak out of the freezer and finding out that the seal has been lost or freezer burn are over
Are these the same bags they use to make MRE's?
Learning some thing
I always put a double seal when I use my vacuum sealer because of failure. And yes it stinks to have a solid ice Cube in a vacuum sealed bag. That process is not cheap or easy to end up with a ruined product
Can you seal directly into those mylar bags?
Larry, How come the bag with the fish looks like it's not vacuum sealed? I have a food saver and is much better than that by a mile....
I’m trying to vacuum seal me and it keeps sucking up the juice from the meat and not working any suggestions?
Can Mylar bags be sealed without using a chamber sealer?
Big reason is chamber vacuum seal.
Those days of taking a steak out of the freezer and finding out that the seal has been lost or freezer burn are over
Where can I buy Mylar bags...besides amazon?
Larry, where are you? Are you ok? We haven't heard from you in 2 years. Share with us
larry passed away a few years ago sad to say.
Where do you buy the bags at
Where in the heck are you getting the bags from?
Amazon, EBay just google Mylar bags
Larry Hall thanks!
The crappie limit is only 10 fish in Minnesota.. seems like overkill even if you have 20 fish. They shouldn't sit that long.
Larry what model vac sealer do you use
