Just ordered mine today can’t wait I’m excited for it to get here and have this finally in my fully loaded slt which was what the guy from the dealer told me was a Denali without the Denali emblems which now I know he held out a bit more info but other than that my truck still has more than enough options can’t complain love my truck does more than what I ever believed I needed!!!

I’ve been searching and searching the web on what to do with my 22’ Silverado Custom Trail Boss. This is the information I needed. I wanted the base model with only a few of the things the higher trims have without the high end cost. Only thing I don’t think I’ll be able to do is add the sunroof but you sir have given me hope and I thank you. SUBSCRIBED!

let me know if you end up getting it. ive got a 2020 2500hd Custom and the only reason i havent gotten it yet is because the steering wheels dont have the directional buttons on the right side of the steering wheel that would control the new cluster... been trying to find a work around

Thanks for the awesome video. Just did the upgrade myself this morning. I'm now debating the GPS one to get the speed limit piece to function correctly.
That is one of the nicer parts about having the extra digital screen space. I also did it to get wireless Apple car play. I rely on that now. 👍

I have a 2020 rst, i ended up getting the denali version because i like the look of the white analog needles. The only thing that might bug me is the gmc logo it has inside the cluster.

Love love love! This video. Congrats on the new cluster. The only thing I would have done differently than you would be to test that it works prior to putting all that trim back on ( maybe you did this off camera).
I have a 2020 Chevy High Country with this display, and I can see why you wanted an upgrade. If you ever get a chance to add the HUD, do it! Game changer for me
My factory unit does not have the 0-60 option, which I would love to have. Any ideas on how to add it?
I believe WAMS has an an option where you send yours in to be “unlocked”

For those of us with an LTZ trim, is there any benefit to doing this upgrade? I don’t see much improvement beyond the enlarged digital screen. I like how the battery gauge changes to tranny temp when towing, but i don’t HAVE to have that.

To my knowledge there is no way to do that yet.
Man I’m so interested on getting a newer digital cluster for my Silverado trail boss custom… only reason I chose this truck was because I needed the bench seat over having a whole center console that is just taking up space lol… but I look on the description link and I don’t they have it for my truck yet

An updated to my post a few days ago, I have since found out that WAMS does not program the engine hours. GM programs the hours before the cluster is sent to WAMS.

It’s plug and play once it arrives. There is an extra programing option you can pay for that gets you a few extra screens like 0-60, G-force, and lots of detailed fluid pressure and temperatures.

I know the 2019-21 interiors needed an update like they did with the exterior, which is the best design out there. But you can make the interior your own and still make nice, just be creative.

There is, but I personally thought the graphics for the icons looked really outdated. Didn’t make me feel confident that it would feel as fast and responsive as I’m use to…
Did your ⛽️ gauge change, i just filled up and it's saying 490 miles to empty. On the old cluster a full tank would register 330 miles.
How long have you had it? It needs to relearn fuel economy and usage.

I’d go to their site and enter your info and they will let you know what you need and what upgrade paths you have. I know the 19’s need an extra antenna or something… they might need your vin or something to give you the exact details.

I noticed at the beginning of the video you had 250 mile range on fuel and then when you installed the new cluster it was showing 480 miles I'm assuming it was saying that because it didn't have an accurate reading on your normal mpg consumption. If you could clarify that would be great.
Correct it needs time for the computer to calculate fuel mileage in the vehicle installed in

Ha, no. That info is stored in the cluster, so this one has some learning to do lol. I’m around that too with a lot of in town driving.

lol that’s a leftover from a chrome delete mod I did on a previous video. Took the chrome ones off my truck for black ones. And just stuck it there for fun.
17:28. Your gage just changes from battery to trans temp when you switch in tow haul mode….My 2015 Sierra Denali when you hit that on gear shifter lever button,the battery gage runs away to the right (like a pac man ghost ) and the trans temp gage comes in from the right 😊
The other connector at the back of cluster is for head-up display.
You need an input to program the thing as well. But yeah that info comes from the cluster. Too bad nobody’s figured out how to add that HUD after market yet.
Do you have any idea what that area on the dash that you have a Star Wars figure mounted is for, I was checking it out today and there is a removable matt there, just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of it
It’s just a storage space, but as you noticed it makes a perfect bunker for a storm trooper 🤣
@@TruckOwnership101 I tow a trailer and wanted to install my camera monitor there, it works really well, but I have not yet run a 12-volt power wire up there, I just cut a board that would fit snuggly there and mounted the monitor, camera feed is wireless, power feed is not, they need to figure that one out

Glad you got a new hud you wanted! Not sure that I’d prefer that over my analog gauges though. Not seeing much of a real difference. Plus I’m not sure if I could find a upgraded cluster that doesn’t say auto start stop my truck doesn’t have it as I didn’t want it and my factory gauges don’t say auto start stop anywhere not sure I’d want to see it on the upgraded unit.
It is pretty subtle, but I love the speed limit gauge in the top left and how the battery gauge changes to transmission temp when I’m in tow haul mode. You need factory navigation for that speed limit sign though. Which came with my radio upgrade mod from my earlier video. If they figure out how to get the HUD added to this, that would really be cool.

So I see the cluster then it's another 199 for programming... does it need programed? What do I get if it's programmed?
It has to be configured to your unique truck for it to work. They’ll need your vin and everything. They separate the prices in case you already had the fancier cluster.
does the speed limit readout operate as normal ? or does it say as just two dashes ?
It works correctly on pretty much every road. Small back streets like the one I live on are not marked, so that comes up sometimes.

Did you get yours through WAMS? They have to match it to your vin.
Did you disconnect the negative terminal on the battery before installing?
Pretty sure I was too excited and didn’t lol. Probably would have been a safer idea to do that.

How does the new cluster recognize your current odometer reading? Can you use the HUD display ? Great vid!
The odometer is the really important stat on a vehicle, so it’s stored deeper in the truck. The little things like trip and fuel economy are in the cluster. WAMS did leave it configured for the HUD later on. They don’t offer a solution for that yet and so far I haven’t seen anyone else either. Wouldn’t mind figuring that out someday!

@@Jagman2919 I did a 2” lift/level video on my 2019 RST. It wasn’t worth my time for how cheap a GM dealership did the work. Plus the factory front control arms don’t seem to be handling lifts well. They really should be upgraded with the lift. Plus My 6,300 pound camper would squat my truck pretty bad if it was leveled.
@@TruckOwnership101 I think the Upper control arms are undersized on the trail boss to facilitate a leveling kit with just spacers, I’m looking a Ready Lift level kit with the beefy UCA’s with 1 ton ball joints. Found a Ready Lift local installer from their website.

I think you can select either? I had them send me one. So now I have two lol. One low tech and one high tech.

I THINK they are just asking if you would supply your own, or if you are buying one from them. (Not sure who would have their own to supply)

@@KevinBrock82 looks like they have added more options since I did mine, so I can’t tell you for certain. I’d either message them directly, or go with the closest match for your truck. If you have a 2020 Silverado, then go with the 2020 high country. For the investment I’d message them directly. Would suck to get it wrong. 😅 Good luck man! Yep, I never even bothered to pull the battery lol. After it re-learns your fuel economy its like it came from the factory.
Did your cluster come programmed, and there is another connector on the backside of your new cluster? What is that connector for?
You send them your vin so it comes programmed for your specific truck. The other connectors are for a “Heads up Display” and for the actual programming of it. Not aware of an aftermarket HUD mod yet

Yes, but you'll also need to upgrade the Custom steering wheel too.
For those of you wanting to do this upgrade like I was planning to do, be aware that the needed report to have the engine hours programmed is proving to be difficult to obtain. Out of 5 dealerships I have called, 3 of them had no clue regarding the GDS2 software report and 2 stated that they can obtain the hours but cannot provide a physical report that WAMS requires. After emailing with WAMS, I was told that GM requires WAMS to have this report for them to program the hours. Strange that GM requires this but out of 5 dealerships, I am unable to obtain this report. WAMS stated that in the 10 years they have been doing this, they have never heard of a dealership refusing to give a report. I guess I am just SOL!!

100% love it. Pulled my camper 200 miles one way twice this summer, so it was nice to have the transmission temp up front and center. The speed limit indicator is very nice too. You need the navigation features for that though. Plus it looks awesome lol.

I would have tested the new display before reassembling all the trim.

It’s the factory GM cluster for their High Country trim level.

How long did it take for it to come in?
Mine came pretty quick. Couple of days to custom program it and then ship time. It was pre chip shortage so hopefully his inventory / supply chain is still good.

The warranty won’t cover the new item or anything like that, but it’s not like swapping that out voids your power train warranty or anything.

You need the radio with navigation. Which also gets you wireless CarPlay if you didn’t have it already

Yep. They take care of all the setup. It has to be “set” to your vin in order to work properly for odometer purposes I think…
