You do the same as I do. I want to test systems myself before I put them in for customers. Fujitsu 9000btu mini hp and AmStd 20SEER HP are really nice too. Great for solar, off-grid applications.
I’v been installing these units without dual fuel in California and yes these are a good middle of the road solution. I do wish we could install these with variable speed indoor fans. The now made a 4 & 5 ton but the condensers are tall but still take up less space than the master traditional inverter condensers
Great video, I am currently in the process of replacing both my A/C unit and furnace with a hybrid heat pump & gas furnace central ducted system and 38MARBQ24AA3 is the heat pump I’ve been recommended. Would you say this is adequate for a 2000 sq/ft (2600 sq/ft incl finished basement) home?
I noticed you've got the evaporator coil underneath the furnace - Isn't that a little unusual? In cooling mode, I thought the coil was supposed to be in the discharge side of the fan to blow off condensation. Maybe this setup lets you run the furnace and the heat pump at the same time?

Nice review! Can you help me understand why the furnace needs to run on a fixed fan speed with the 38MARB?
Can it be paired with a 2 stage variable speed gas furnace?
Does your heat pump stay on all the time even to Achieve 0.5 Degree C or 1.0 Degree C of heat ?

The coil is in the discharge side, the furnace is in a downflow configuration
Definitely can do Two Zone Application with 38MURA and use Two Stage Furnace
