I have this in my 1972 chevelle LQ4, Z06 clutch, it's rated for 700 foot pounds, shifts real nice. I have two turbos to put in front of it !
GREAT VIDEO!!!!!
Thank you for sharing!!
Mannn!! Tremec is absolutely Amazing! Thank you for these masterpieces! 💯🔥🔥
Will this transmission go very well with my ford performance 363 cubic inch engine that I have installed in my fox?
I’m trying to run a 5.7 ls with a 68mm turbo and I hope this hydraulic clutch conversion works with my t56
I wonder if I could put one of these in my 240d Mercedes Benz. Currently I have a 4 speed Getrag but really needs the benefits of the overdrive.
Awesome video... thanks
I am putting this trans in a 1935 coupe the shifter is in the trunk what are the best shifters and relocation kits for this build?
I wish i had that on my dodge Magnum RT, it would be a blast and also better MPG...
I have a 1993 mustang gt that just blew the side out of the stock t5! I think having a 10 pound supercharger on the car didn't really help. Definitely been looking into a t56.
better go with magnum
Would this be the same work for a viper t56??
How hard is it to trade out a borg Warner 5 speed to a tremec 6 speed. Is it just bolt and go? My 4th gear is almost gone.
Hello,.I just built a resto mod with 6 speed tremec.Dual disc Clutch .Everything is brand new.. I have the a issue with the clutch slipping. Im try to figure out how to adjust it to eliminate the slip.?.
BTW with my 6-speed swap i went through 4 ZOOM clutches with each clutch supposedly tougher than the previous clutch and it didn't make a difference. Each clutch lasted till only a thousand or so miles before they were trashed. Trust me when I say that I know how to shift. Zoom clutches just suck!!! Once ram started to make a 26 spline clutch for my swap I haven't had one issue yet. So get a RAM clutch for your swap and make sure it is one of the tougher units they sell. Also make sure you buy a Ford Racing rear main seal. It's cheap insurance. Don't buy a fel-pro seal. My fel-pro started to leak almost right away. The Ford Racing rear main seal is tougher and thicker so it's a no brainer to get a Ford Racing rear main seal for cheap insurance against leaks.
steve v you're right about that, my buddy went through 2 before putting a ram clutch, and now that im doing my swap he recommended that clutch as well.
steve v: It's funny, cause I see a lot of people complain about Ram clutches. I put a Ram clutch in my 90 Gt last year and it has been outstanding so far. No complaints from me.
Mantic twin disc ..
You're supposed to break them in for 500 miles I believe
What does he mean by tr version of the 6060, does he mean the manual version?
Do they do a kit for the gen 1 fastback mach 1 mistangs? 1969
So does the magnium feel " notchy " like the TKO 600?
Did you guys index the bell housing? You make no mention of it and looks like you didn’t in the video?
Can you still have a cable style clutch cable?
I want to put one of these behind my all aluminum 427 and in my 95 mustang. are there any video how-to's on that year of mustang?
Shit 4 years ago .... but did you ever find out if it fits sn95 mustangs ? I want my 96 cobra to have a 6 speed not a 5
@@pabloescalante5604 yea i found out and it's in my 95 and running great. i have the "wide ratio" version. the only issue i had was getting the trans close to the shifter floor. it will touch, so you have to slot the cross member holes down to clear. that could give you a 1° drive line angle from the tail of the trans. I'm running an IRS so i don't have to worry about the axles moving.
@@PANTYEATR1 I want to convert my 1995 Mustang GT that currently has a built AODE to a new Tremac T56. Any pointers on what I need to make this happen please?
@@joshuawegrzyn5313 sure, you will need a 28-spline clutch, get the trans cross member from Stifflers, you'll need the GM urethane trans mount cause it's smaller, this far box is big, so when fitting it to the tunnel floor, be ready to change the holes where the trans cross member bolt in. you'll need a driveshaft made. i recommend a quick time bell housing. you may need an adjustable pivot for the clutch fork, adjustable clutch cable and quadrant. i may have forgotten stuff, but that's enough to get you started.
PANTYEATR1 Thanks for the prompt reply!
i see people are mating a fox 6 spd with 302 351 and trying with the 427. what about with a coyote? i also have 4.10 gears with my 302 5spd.
Is this trans only good for racing or is it good for just cruising around? Does it feel much of a difference than mt-82 on a 2011 mustang gt?
I used to have a 2013 gt.. now I have a 2010 gt500. The mt-82 was MUCH smoother to shift and didnt have any of the 2nd gear grind issues that the tr6060 has. So yep a big different... theres a rebuild kit out for the mt-82 now and the gear ratios are ideal for a n/a 5.0 vs a tr6060 or a t56 magnum.. for drag racing at least.
Great video
Can u tell me what other parts were needed for this build!
American power train clutch kit
American power train pro trans kit
American power train bell housing
Any more??
About 7 thou worth of kit
I ll keep the dream alive guys!!! Lol.
All you need is that suitcase full of money!
Will that red Tremec shifter fit a f body t56 ?
No. The T56 Magnum uses a completely different shifter from the standard T56. The T56 Magnum also does not have the correct shifter position to be used in F-bodies - it would be necessary to cut the tunnel to make it work. Luckily, Tremec has recently started selling the Magnum F, which is internally the same transmission, but with drop-in fitment in F-bodies.
If only I could put a manual in a new pickup truck
Wonder if it could handle a procharged 383 stroker
Sure will
Man! I wonder if they sale these gearboxes for imports ..cause all he mentioned was domestics?
2007suprasport I think you'd be out of luck with that application, the Lotus Esprit probably has a transaxle (diff up the front with driveshafts going out to the wheels near the bellhousing).
I have a 89 mustang with a 6-speed from D&D performance. They started the 6-speed swaps first before anyone. Sorry for giving them the props but what there not tell you is that you need to modify your H or X pipe because a normal aftermarket H or X pipe with or without cats won't fit under a 6-speed swap. I will say that back in 2004 when i did my swap there wasn't a hydrolic style system. So i had to use a ordinary upgraded cable clutch link. But it's still really nice and i saved a bunch of gas on the freeways using my 6-speed even with 3.73 gears. I think if you have 2.73 gears you might stall out once you shift into 6th. At 80 mph with 3.73 gears i'm at 2100 rpms compared to 2900 with the 5 speed. My first gear is a 2.60 and my 6th gear is a .50. I have to use a 26 spline clutch now but that's no big deal.
+steve v How you like the transmission overall compared to the 5 Speed?
feels like heaven. feels like my old 3550 but with another gear. Now i can run a 4.56 gear with no worries... Only thing i need is a hydrolic clutch cable...
steve v Well i'm think about getting one for a 347 i'm building that should make 500HP. So the T5's wont cut it. Want a 6 speed and something a little smoother then the t5's when pushing in on the clutch and shifting
Yeah i run a 331 from D.S.S. and even though my 3550 was good enough i still wanted that 6 speed for the freeway. Trust me a 6-speed will be your last tranny you will ever buy unless you start pushing 800 horspower or more. Than you need a custoum built 6-speed or a powerglide unit.
Oh by the way try to get a 2.60 first gear and a .50 6th gear. That's what i have. If you can't get both of those gears than make sure you get the 2.60 first gear. Trust me it will keep you in your powerband longer no matter what rear end gear your running. If you still have the stock 2.73 gear or the 3.08 than you don't have to shift during your 0-60 mph times. With my 3.73 gears i have to shift into second at about 44 mph. Before with my 3550 my first gear was a 3.23 gear. With my 3.73 rear gear i needed to shift at 25 mph. So trust me. A 2.60 first gear is the better choice no matter what....
My T56 only has 4 gears…. Was it supposed to have 6???
rear main seal leaking lol gonna wipe out that new clutch
Why does LMR and american muscle say this trans wont fit my 88 mustang?
As a pro truck driver, I do not understand why Tremec decided to put Rev. right beside a high speed gear (6th) when in sixth gear you don't need Rev. so why put it beside 6th? On the other hand you will use 1st and rev. around the same time. Like backing out of the garage and going right into a convenient 1st gear. Why put it away over next to 6th. That is weird. Anybody know the logic of this?
Doug Stern yeah I agree buddy
@@budsworld71 I have talked to many transmission guys and they have no answer to that one. My theory is that the designers are not enthusiasts and their daily driver is an automatic. What do they know. All low speed gears should be grouped close together. Pro trucks have had low speed gears grouped together forever for a reason. Putting reverse in the 7th gear spot is nuts!
How much money for this transmission
Peter. Hatch around 2-3k
Why does the T-56 put the Reverse gear in the 7th gear spot. Reverse is a low speed gear. Why not put it beside the low speed gears? Like maybe beside 1st gear? The placement is strange and a mystery to me.
Doug Stern 🤷🏽♂️ but I’m glad it has a reverse lockout
@@hector971000 Ya, but it is stupid to put it on the far side of the shift pattern. Makes no sense at all. Low speed gears need to be on the same side. Dah...
not one shot with the crossmember in, how intresting. Prly cuz it wasn't bolt in and you had to modifiy the car.
Anybody who has any question's about this swap can ask me any question's. Below is my story with my opinions so feel free to read. I went through every detail about my swap. Trust me it was worth it.
+steve v When it comes to shifters there all good. I have and use the Steeda
Tri-ax shifter because it's a shorter shifter and it's spring loaded for the all important 2nd-3rd shift. Hurst is good. BBK is good. Pro-5.0 is good. I used all of them but Steeda's shifter works best for my driving. Since it is spring loaded to stay right in the middle sometimes 1st to 2nd power shift can be tricky. I'm sure there is more shifters that do the same jobs but for me that is what I choose...
+steve v The flywheel I use is a Fidanza Aluminum unit. I like them because it's a aluminum flywheel that has a friction plate rivited to it so the aluminum can never wear out. Instead of paying to get it cut or buying a whole new unit, you can instead just buy there friction plates and have one rerivited to the flywheel and your good to go...
Will this work on my 1986 f150 flare side?
If it has a 5.0 liter V8 it should bolt up but your gonna need to do some cutting and grinding on your floorboard. If you have a automatic with a steering wheel console shifter than you'll need to get more information from people in the 4x4 realm.
+steve v no 4x4 here, 2wd 4 speed manual. More of like a race truck
can i put one in my 3.8 camaro lol
Wouldn't bother leave it alone dude 😎
That guy had small hands
Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um. Um.
The Foxbody Mustangs are so ugly
