      @@GardeningUpbeat I have never tried for late bloom. Because here, when temp rises above 38/40°C ,flower buds appears even when not planted . So I have to sow them. Is there any method for late bloom.

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Před 4 lety

      @Adeniums by S.K.SHARMA, Oh okay! We don't get such issue as it doesn't go that high. We can force late bloom by keeping the bulbs in refrigerator - that way, bulb would think it's winter and they would maintain their dormancy period. Then, can plant them as soon as summer temperature is there. But, plz don't keep in the ice section, thank you :-)

    I have two bulbs brought here in my country. They were not big bulbs and when I planted it, it has healthy leaves. One year had passed already, it doesn't bloom yet, but probably because the stem is still thin and the bulbs are smaller. I really love this plant. Thanks for the tip of planting.

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Před 4 lety +1

      @Shauri Shauri, Most of the bulbs produce the bloom first and then foliage. If they are starting to grow foliage means, almost no chance of getting bloom in that season. It happened with me too (in past) :-) Same thing happened with me while growing Amaryllis...Since I bought the bulbs online, I had no option to select bigger bulbs. I got only Foliage in one season..ha ha..Thank you for watching the video and hope your plants bloom this season, good luck :-)

    Hi, my aunt gave me a large Blood Lily/Football Lily bulb for Christmas. It was out of her garden. I potted it in slightly acidic soil in December but kept it inside. Once frost was over, around March, I put it outside. I noticed in April it started to wake up 😊, so I began watering it (only when dry) and put it in a warm, bright morning sunlit area on porch. It only sprouted 1 inch of reddish green spotted foliage, then stopped. It hasn't changed in almost a month 😔! Any ideas to why it isn't growing? Any suggestions to get it growing again, please?

      @GardeningUpbeat  Před 4 lety +4

      @Black Beauty, The bulbs were not matured one and so it didn't bloom. Sorry to say, they are not going to bloom this year and they would bloom only next year. Normally, they start producing the buds immediately after planting the bulbs in soil. If not, bulbs are not matured enough to produce the bloom. You don't need to cut the leaves...instead you can leave it as it is and bulbs would start getting bigger. That way, you would get the blooms next year. Anyway, Football lily plant looks attractive as they have dark green and unique foliage. Thank you for watching the video :-)

    Should we keep the bulbs for resting? If yes when and for how long?

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Před rokem

      Winter is a dormancy period and foliage die during this time. So, you can keep the bulb inside soil itself and water once in 15-20 days. But if you want to dig up and store separately, you can do that as well. Then, plant them in the mid to end of April. Good luck!

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Před 4 lety +1

      @Sujatha Gopal, Most welcome and thank you very much for your feedback, appreciate i. Well, FEB is bit early as they are Summer bulb. They need warm temperature to sprout and so it's not sprouting yet. Feb end is ideal time to sow summer flower seeds, but not the Bulbs. Anyway, you don't have to worry. It would sprout very soon. But for time being, plz avoid over watering. It's okay even if you water in 10-15 days. You can water more when you see it's starting to sprout. Imp Note - for all bulbs (after sprouting), we should water only when top soil dries out. Hope that helps, thank you :-)
