- Amaryllis is one of my favorite flowers because it produces huge and bright flowers in different colour during late winters to early summers. It’s a perennial flower and remains in your garden for years with very low maintenance. It grows nicely in well drained soil and needs very less water. So , when the tops layer of the soil appears dry then only water the plant. Water logging can damage it’s bulbs. Little amount of organic fertilizer like vermicompost or cowdung compost twice a month is sufficient for this lovely plant at the time of flowering. It needs bright sunlight for 5 to 6 hours a day. When the buds appear on the stalk, keep the pot under semi shade. Thus the flowers remain bright and last long. Once the flowering is over, let the bulbs remain in the same pot or shift into another pot. At this time discard stalks and leaves to allow the bulbs store all the energy in the bulbs. Always choose bigger bulbs for large and healthy flowers. After flowering, it remains dormant for around 6 to 8 weeks. After this the plant becomes green with long and bright green leaves. So, let it sit in one corner of your Garden or Home Garden and cherish it's beauty year after year.

I love the way you explain and talk about the topic. If I may add something, after flowering is done it's good to leave the leaves as they produce food/ process photosynthesis, which is then stored in the bulb for the next season. Normally the leaves wither away or we may cut a few weeks before the flowering season starts.

My plants don't flower though they were old enough with healthy green leaves.

Most important, sometimes leaves look like sprouting from mother bulb, but they are from small/baby bulbs and mother bulbs start decaying because of some insect attack. Please check for the same. Also give any compost every month. Sometime it takes time and when the bulb is full of energy then only bloom. So be patient as it can bloom even in May or beginning of June.
@@meribagiyamerapyaar6511 thanks but I keep them in full sunlight for whole day , say from 8 o' clock to five in the evening. Can it be because of the small size of the pot?

Ma'am I've amarillis lily plant but it's only producing leaves not flowering at all can you please tell me what should I do????
No flowers only leaves on Amaryllis means the bulbs have not received proper care to store energy to produce flowers.
Now winters approaching and its the dormancy time for them. Do not water or feed, just keep the bulbs or bulbs in the pot in a dark and dry place to let the bulbs dry and have papery layers around it. After the completion or dormancy period keep them out in the sun (onset of spring) . Now give it balance NPK like10..10..10. water just to keep the soil moist.
Your Amaryllis will surely bloom next year.

Don't allow seed formation on any bulb based plant. They spend lot of energy in seed creation which could have gone towards bulb instead
