Not one of my neighbors will even talk with each other. I remember back in the day when neighbors lived in harmony and treated each other like family. 😔
amen!
Sounds like California
Mine won't talk to me after I took his deer stand off my property and gave it back to him... can't force people to be neighborly!
If we don't communicate we have no community.
If you have good neighbors count your blessings. I personally have great neighbors. Having had a horrible neighbor 45 years ago I realize how fortunate I am. Not worth killing them, or ??? I find running a rotary mower relaxing. Not how I had to earn my retirements however.
Glad you picked up the camera lol
Always interesting stuff on this channel. Wooo! Hey where is Ms. Stoney? and , oh yeah, I'm still here. lol
Job well done. Blessings🙂
Josh, you know like I do with the sound of the tractor running is not noise it’s music😁🤘🏼
WOW that looking good from Philadelphia Pa. Feb 25th 2023 time 15:45pm.
I respect how mechanically sympathetic you always are. Lube, warmup, taking the time to do it right.
anything worth doing is worth doing right!
Josh: I think it’s a great thing for you to help your friend out. Sure he will love 💕 it.
Great video Josh
Your bloopers are by far my fav of anyone else on youtube...so is your content. But those bloopers! haha! Stay happy, I enjoy your channel. :)
thanks buddy....I tell ya we're all human and showing our mistakes is a good thing...even if they're silly
Winter weather loves to drain batteries and lower tire pressures. Loved the bloopers! They put a smile on my face every time, Woooo!!
thanks brotha! Enjoying your content too!
Great job mowing Josh
Good job helping your neighbors out👍❤️🙋♂️
Looks great! Always nice to help out and take care of your neighbors! Thanks for sharing 🤠
Bravo Josh! You have done a good deed, for a worthy neighbor!
There is something deeply satisfying about farming. Seeing how this land is getting prepared and being cared for really is inspiring.
Thanks for doing this.
May the good lord bless you and your family with your farm.
Great video Josh, always appreciate the drone footage. Thank you buddy.
It’s refreshing to hear somebody talk about letting things warm up and letting things lube up for a few minutes before operation so many people don’t do that
I use a Woods 8’ drag behind on a Massey Ferguson. It’s a big cut but it has always been reliable as a Swiss watch. Replaced my old woods with a newer one in 2004. Cuts very well and with sharp blades it does a half decent finish cut.
That little GooLoo is handy as hell right.???
Keep it up and God bless.
Love watching “Big T” eat! And Ok; I am sold on the GooLoo. Ordering one from the link now. Tired of jumping batteries and fixing flats!
thanks for the video on mowing the back pasture. it really looked great after the work. have a great weekend.
I recently installed a block heater on my tractor for this very reason - cold starts are hard on engines. Also have a harness on the way for my truck. We don't get a lot of really cold days but when we do I'm prepared now!
You're good man Josh Good neighbors are hard to find
Great video Josh Woooooo!
Bravo Josh,
Good deed well done to help out, beautiful tractor and great stuff.
Happy new year’s
God bless
Boy I'd love to have that field. Hope you can get the cows over there someday.
nice!
Hi..... Josh nice to see you love watching your videos homestead 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐣🐥🐕🐈🐄🐖🐝🌱🏡🎥👍👍👍
I have the same mower, I used a white 2-70 with it works great!
Josh , you did an excellent job on that field.
Could have used that Jump Box this summer :( Car and van batteries are getting week . 43 and another rainy day her in western mass . Blessings to you and the Miss Stoney Ridge for 2023 :)
I spend whole summers mowing down these bushy fields and it’s fun I do it with my grandpa all the time
That's an awesome jump box. Good morning hope you have a wonderful day enjoy watching how you take care of your farm n animals
Looking forward to more videos whooooo
Thanks so much
The GooLoo start box is a start art you can carry in your hand! Amazing it rolled over and started the large tractor with a 100 hp motor!
I so enjoy brush hogging. Last spring I purchased a 75hp Deere with a 7’ cutter. Would love a batwing, just have no way to transport it. Thanks for bringing me late Christmas gift of this video
hmmm......no way to transport it? when ya fold it up it's only about 7ft wide brotha
Tip for you. If you don't need your BW closed all the way up to get through a gate/field/etc, put some of the position controls that are typically used for the height cylinder on the cylinders that control the side decks. It'll keep them at around a 80 degree angle instead of going all the way to 90, then you can drop much more easily.
Best investment I've made on all my equipment was this past year trickle chargers with permanent connectors to the batteries. I live up above you high up in the mountains near Ashe county when it got below zero with wind chills even lower all my batteries stayed at 100%, nice and toasty cranked up with no problem in the cold. Cause maybe $2 a year running them
Ol' batwing can eat 😋
Love ur video’s keep them coming please
Nice job.
What a great looking field!
came out nice...but boy it needs some attention ...not growing very good grass..just broom sedge and briars
That looks awesome 👏
Josh, I can whole hartely bosch batterys, not sure if they have these in USA, but they work fantastic in all weathers in the UK. The field look so much nicer. We'll done mate.
I think you should talk to your neighbor about renting or care taking the land extra pasture and potentially round baling your own hay
you do understand that would require about 10k worth of fertilizer, lime, grass seed and bout $50k worth of extra equipment right? There's a reason I'm buying hay now....if we're ever to see a profit on the farm we have to focus on spending where it makes sense...not to say we'll never bale hay again...but to say that we first must heal our land
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer you can find decent used machinery too I think it'd at least be good pasture ground
Btw most grease companies say no grease close to 15-20 degrees
Hay so eco worry makes a solar panel with built in charge controller that maintains batteries really well. I've tested there panel and it doesn't over charge the like the cheap ones do. I use them on my camper and tractors over winter
Thank you for the video
whoa, i noticed your blades were off center, cavitation! Chewing on buying that Goo Loo!
bet that's awesome.
Nice work Josh ❤
Great lookin' field .
Nice video Josh
What a great Christmas present.
If the field was regularly mowed I’m sure the cut vegetation would break down to create new soil.
Was hear
Wooooo
I think my next tractor is going to be a TYM tractor with a cab! You were able to do all that mowing and didn’t even get dirty. I remember the old videos with the Deere.
Great video, good on you for helping your neighbor. Also, next time I have a few bucks I'm buying that Gooloo. Definitely my next tool investment
used it again yesterday!
Just got my Gooloo yesterday!
I HOPE HE CHECKS THE LAND INCASE THEIR IS A BABY FAWN IN THE GRASS.
Cold weather BATTERY BLUES. : /
Take a lesson from Mike @ OWL. During cold weather, put your equipment on a trickle charger for easier starting. Have a great day 😊
yep...but when ya don't store your tractor where electricity is...can't trickle charge my brotha
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Let me think 🤔. Should you build a shop building to store your essential equipment during inclement weather ? OH 😱, you already have one. Hahaha, just bustin your ⚽⚾🥎🏀🏐🏈🏉 this morning. Have a great day Josh 😊.
Josh! You left us. We fell off the mower! Lol. Nice mower
You look much better without a beard .
How do you sharpen the blades on this mower beast? Interesting how you mow when the ground is frozen to keep the field free of rutting. Forget the blade maintenance, I'll catch that in another video.
You can thank me later for suggesting a jump box... just kidding, but man are they handy to have!
Looking forward to seeing the 'butt fertilizer' transfom that field into some healthy soil! 😉👍
Love your videos, where is your lovely camera assistant? Greetings from a warm sunny South Africa.
HIYA JOSH, HAVE A BLESSED DAY!!!
Hey Josh thank you for the video I enjoyed it like usual and when I was always caught was your battery should be on a piece of plywood if it's on the metal it's going to drain the life out of the battery it's like concrete woo
that's a total wives tale my friend.....concrete, metal or wood it's all the same....tons of vids out disproving that old wives tale about batteries and concrete
Hey can you explain what Electronics runs when you have the key turned off?
The engine computer and control modules constantly drain power when not running..
That mower made short work of that field. You might think about carrying a "saw on a stick" with you when you go out like that to trim the branches off the offending trees
yep a pole saw would have been handy for sure...after the video was filmed I got out the pole saw and will be trimming back the brush
Airborne All The Way........
Actual mowing starts about 9:35 into the video
you don't like the insight into what it takes to get the job done? Plenty of vids out there of tractors going around in circles...but there's more to farm life than that my friend
And half of that was spent trying to get a brand new tractor to start in slightly cold weather 😂 that thing wouldn’t last long in northern Michigan.
Is this the piece of land you’re looking to buy
no sir
Can you run that brush cutter with a wing up to help clear your trails from branches on the sides?
SRF has a Lane Shark for vertical cuts. It’s a front end loader mount attachment.
yes you can but it's very difficult in a tight trail...edges of pastures is great
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Today I learned - those bat wings can run in the up position! Never been around one.
MOw content for cold start to 23
We use a bush hog 21 ft batwing it takes at least 135 HP dads 4440 didn't like it if there was any brush
Wooooooooooooo
Do you mow the entire cow pastures every couple of years. We found cows and horses wouldn't keep the grass mowed enough to keep briars and weed trees down by themselves. There were always a couple of spots that just attracted brush, grandpa joked they didn't like taste of grass in those areas.
yeppers....I mow mine about every year if needed....and you'll never find a place that grows grass better than a briar patch you've kept mowed down....where blackberries grow will make great grass if ya keep it up!
Idle comment: if you cut your pastures from the middle out it chases the wildlife out with less disturbance to them. Otherwise they try to hide in the ever smaller area until they burst out or get mowed down.
When they dredge out water ways like the Cape Fear River what do they do with all that material?
man....I have no idea
🙏🙏👍👍
I had a mower very similar to this one it's a good piece of kit but I think with this type of mowing you would last longer with a flail mower especially with saplings and mixed brush .good luck and happy mowing.J
I have a flail mower...but unfortunately mowing uneven pastures like this is easier with a batwing...flail takes it down to about 1/2 inch....but sprouts will still come back on saplings
Block heaters save you lots of money and you tractor will last longer.
block heaters are great..but our climate around here isn't really cold enough to justify them. If I had power up at teh shop every machine would have a battery tender on it
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Some tractors, when you plug in the block heater you are also plugging in a transmission heater.
NC... If you don't mow it will be a forest again in 5 years.
yep...absolutely
I got one of jump box can you live them in the cold like in the car for the wife
Maybe if your neighbors not using their land perhaps he would allow you to run some cattle.
fencing is the major expense here...and I'd have to put thousands into land that isn't mine...maybe someday but not at the moment until I get my entire farm fenced off
Why did you not flale mow perimeter , till perimeter, then burn center off for fertilizing.
Not my pasture.....if it were then we'd be managing it...but we would not till it my friend...that's why we have no topsoil already
Do you sell your grass fed beef online - I saw your video of the new bull's arrival ...
Is your cut time twice as fast or better with a 12’ vs a 6’? Is there anything that makes it exponentially faster? How many acres per hour?
kinda depends on the lay of the land...but if ya do the math...6ft cutter v/s 16 foot and your basically cutting your mowing time into 1/3 Takes about 15-25 mins to mow an acre depending on the lay of the land and turns in the field
I used my 12’ for the first time. It more than doubles production. You can cut an entire road in one pass, drive faster with wing offset and avoiding limbs and the obvious double cut width. There is also 1’ of overlap in half the number of passes where is 2’ on a smaller cutter doing two passes.
So is it a full on Greg Judy farm from now on?
nope...not at all...but Greg has some great practices that we can all learn from. Greg is a good friend...but what he's got going for him is topsoil...we have none! None at all!! So we're building building and building some more for the health of the land
Wonder how that Electric tractor would work in those temps?
I don't think it would have a problem brotha...but I wouldn't wanna mow this pasture with that little thing lol
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer electric tractor is lithium ion, they fare just as well as lead acid batteries when it’s cold. Haven’t seen many demos with an electric tractor “cold starting” in freezing weather. Or having normal operating range.
First!
woooo!
I have to jump my car everytime I need to use it. NY winter temps are unforgiving on batteries!!!
Now do some Permaculture here, or better still Bio-Dynamics.
It will double everything.
not my land...so I'm just mowing it...we practice regenerative farming on my land
How many CCA?
Controlled burn?
not my land my friend
What would you rate your Tym?
I love it...not sure what that rating might be but there's nothing I don't like about it!
I don’t understand stand why your neighbor abandoned his land, looks like a nice piece of property. And why would you spend your time, money and wear and tear on your equipment on land that has been abandoned?
People get older and can't run heavy equipment like this my friend....now ....if you don't understand why I'd take care of my neighbors, well that's another book we'd need to open by King James. Love thy neighbor...and if his pasture looks like crap and it's right next door...then I think spending an hour and $10 worth of fuel is well worth it to keep things pretty. Look around out in the country buddy...there's plenty of land that's grown up from lack of maintenance. If it were my pasture I'd mow it 2-3 times per year
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I totally understand about being a good neighbor, I have helped my neighbors many times. I guess I was thrown off by the description of “abandoned”. Have a nice day.
That's not a heavy tractor we have 100 HP tractors without cads that weight 18,000 lbs and 135 HP tractors that are over 20,000
still a heavy machine on this moist ground for sure buddy
Put a battery tender on all there tractors and UTV and you wont run into this issues. Goolo has a great product for backup but the Battery tender is what you need
battery tender only works if your barn has power lol
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Yes that is true lol
I have the same mower, I used a white 2-70 with it works great!
