    Noticed I was starting to lose my hair at 21. Got on Minoxidil straight away and it worked ok. Started Finasteride 5 months ago and my hair is feeling a lot stronger and can start to see some regrowth. Shampoos don’t do anything as they don’t stay on the scalp long enough. Would be better off applying a topical before bed. Biotin is essential for good hair but most people get enough though their diet. I’ve taken Biotin supplements for a while even though it probably doesn’t do anything. I’ve had no side effects with Finasteride at all and you should take all the negative comments about the drug with a grain of salt. There’s a lot of the ‘Nocebo’ effect going on. It’s a very safe drug. People reported the same side effects when they were taking the placebo during the trials. I started Saw Palmetto when I stated Minoxidil and that done nothing for me. The studies conducted were very small and you can’t get too much from them. Other things to research would be Topical androgens like RU55481 and Alfatridiol. Or topical stimulants like Stemoxydine.

    Really sceptical about saw palmetto - it's a key ingredient in a lot of snake oil products. Since DHT is attacking hair follicles *within* the scalp, the idea of "removing it from the *surface*" seems a bit odd to me, and presumably if it's found in sebum build up any clarifying shampoo could remove that.

    • @tr5kd
      @tr5kd Před 4 lety

      So, skin is used as a natural waterproofing layer. However, as we know from chemistry, "like-dissolves like" so when you apply oils, they can absorb into the skin through sebum, through our follicles and the like. Don't take this as "only oils dissolve", there is a continuum of diffusion but I just wanted to give you some information on the topic of how these products get through the scalp and work locally or end up a tad bit systemic.

    1. I've been taking Finasteride for 7 months now and
    haven't seen much of a difference with my hair. I've
    been debating on whether I should start using
    minoxidil too. Should I wait a few more months to see
    if Finasteride alone works or should I add minoxidil
    now?
    2. How long should I take Minoxidil for? A few months, a
    year, for the rest of my life?
    3. Let's say hypothetically I were to take minoxidil for a
    few months or a year and then stopped, but
    continued taking Finasteride. Will finasteride alone
    maintain the hair gained by minoxidil, or would I have
    to continue using both to keep the hair gained?

    I just take biotin and do calisthenics. I do a lot of HIIT and thus, a lot of cardio which is said to lower DHT levels. I have a lot of hair, but my dad and one of my uncles went bald at 17. I’m 23 and still going strong. Both my grandfathers of each side both still have their hair and both grayed early. I have a good amount of blonde and white strands so it’s looking good for me.

    Have a question! Does the application of minoxidil affect the styling?? I mean, is it okey to style it after you applied it or you have to leave it? As always great video Robin, keep it up !

    • @rkb654
      @rkb654 Před 3 lety

      Minoxidil comes in two forms, liquid and foam. The liquid is quite greasy and hard to style but slightly more effective and potent for reducing hair loss but the foam is much less greasy and easier to style.

    Great video Robin I'm really interested in the DHT blocker shampoo. I've been using Minoxidil for over a year but I've been using it for beard growth. It's pretty ironic that we need to use Products that block ingredients containing DHT to slow down hair loss but need to use Products that have DHT ingredients to help facial hair growth. You mentioned with Sons' product it didn't have PG which might make their Minoxidil safer with less side effects. I wonder without the PG would the product be as effective like the Minoxidil I use that does contain PG. Also dermarolling could be used to help promote blood flow to the hair follicles.

    • @TipsForHim
      @TipsForHim Před 4 lety

      @Casual MMA Fan No I actually have no issue with PG or side effects apart from try skin from Minoxidil. But thanks for the tip. I was just wonder if the PG being absent is what contributes to it not having side effects or at least less severe side effects. Also I wasn't referring to DHT ingredients in Minox just that products that are considered to be DHT blockers is good for preventing or slowing down the process of losing hair but it's recommended to use the complete opposite when it comes to growing facial. Basically DHT blockers good for scalp hairs but bad for facial hair, in the sence of growth.

    • @TipsForHim
      @TipsForHim Před 4 lety

      @Casual MMA Fan Casual MMA Fan DHT is the primary androgen for secondary sex characteristics like facial hair and the male reproductive system.
      using DHT blockers like finasteride has been shown to lower libido in men that are trying to combat baldness. The trade-off is, essentially, loss of facial hair for head hair. It promotes body and facial hair growth.
