It’s not often that one gets to witness a duo as strangely well-complemented as Jonathan and Charlotte. When the two stepped on the Britain’s Got Talent stage, both the judges and the viewers were blown away by just how well suited the two were to each other and to the show itself.
What made Jonathan and Charlotte’s partnership work so well was mainly their friendship behind the scenes and a sense of profound loyalty to one another. Especially since on the surface, it did not look like the two would make a great singing pair.
The most common critique the two have faced is that Jonathan’s Power and Dramatic Tenor is more suited to more elaborate singing genres, like Opera. And at the same time, Charlotte’s warm and honeyed singing voice is the stuff West End show-stopping dreams are made of. And yet, when put together the two complement each other like fire and water. This really shone through at their Britain’s Got Talent Audition.

Singers of different styles can come together and create incredible music even if their paths then go different directions........ if he dumped her, she would be forgotten, the fact that he stuck with her (what helped his confidence too cause without her he would not have been able to go on) helped them both.
It's always when you're forced to compromise and when there are huge artistic restrictions and rules that creativity booms.
IMO this is why some bands with members with completely different styles are so successful, it's a push and pull and they're forced to make it work, creating very intricate and sophisticated pieces.
When you have a complete free-for-all to do what you want things become easier, which is not always better for the music itself. People don't seem to understand this in modern art, which is one reason why quality has increasingly gone down and become lazy.
Of course, when you have personalities with different visions not only do you make epic masterpieces, but the environment also becomes hostile and a battle, which is probably why these sorts of pairs don't last long, even with deep friendships.
This couple, Paul Potts, and Susan Boyle's auditions were my ALL TIME FAVORITE!! I've watched them over and over and still cry. Not only are they extremely talented, they were ALL so humble and sweet during their auditions. SO happy for their successes!!! ❤

They were right for each other at the time but their musical styles and goals were entirely different. Jonathan is a phenomenal talent and should be an opera superstar if he follows the right path.
He has sung all over the world so I don't understand why he isn't well known

I wouldn't call it a split because I bet they would get together in a heartbeat.
They're great kids evolving into the wonderful adult artists they deserve to be.
The future for them is not as a duo.They are both following their own pathway and probably cannot see any reason to revisit old ways

Not a chance of that. They pursue completely different vocations/careers. There is a very limited repertoire for duos. In classical music it is very rare.

if they are good friends, friendship is never lost...... even if they don't speak daily, even if they don't speak for years, they are friends and I am sure if one ever needed something the other would be there to help.
I got friends like that, and even if we don't keep in touch religiously, when we do meet or speak on the phone, we feel as if we just last spoke "yesterday" and not months ago.
Their lives are busy, it doesn't mean that they stopped being friends just because they don't keep in touch daily.

No only Johno was talented, she had his coat tails to hang onto that kept her relevant for way past her due date, had she allowed Johno to go solo, she would have fallen by the wayside at her next attempt and would never have gone any further., it was all thanks to Johno being a good friend and thankfully it didn't ruin his chances as he was so good he could drag a lesser talent along with him.
Not sure why people are trying to prop Charlotte to be better than she eventually showed once the Johno bubble faded from her. She was just okay as good singers are a dime a dozen, we see them every year trying out for these talent shows around the world as well as on CZcams, only the odd special talent shines through.

Sad that they lost the bond of friendship but it's good that they went their own way.
They are still friends, they have just lost touch with each other because they are each very busy and successful in their individual separate careers and move in completely different circles.

with (excuse me if I am wrong) Chinese preformers.He sang The Prayer in English,the others in The other language. I loved it all.

I am glad Simon has calmed down a lot from the younger days. Now he seems more lovely and seems to care how the contestants feel and think
Keep also in mind just about every reality tv is scripted, including talent shows. Simon was essentially playing himself turned up to 11.

Leave those awesome people alone. What is happening in their private life is THEIR private life and NOT of our business at all. People come in our lifes for a reason and at the right time. If Charlotte wasn't there for Jonathan at that moment, we most likely never heard from him because he was too shy to go on stage. As far as i know, Jonathan is SUCH a kind human and THATS why i listen to His music.
When you become a public figure that's what it is and dont come with that bs, if he had a shit voice you wouldn't listen to him

Not even when you or anyone else demands or expects them. Too many artists are emotionally damaged by the demanding behavior of their fans. I have several examples of this, especially from fans who do not respect their private lives. If Jonathan couldn't sing, I wouldn't listen to his voice, but I would listen to what this old soul has to say. Beautiful loving person. Can you still learn a lot from it?

Jonathan is far better as a solo artist .
They were beautiful together, but there's only so many duets suitable for their vocal style as a duo.
Charlotte supported Jonathan as he didn't have the confidence to perform alone and encouraged him to follow his dreams. He wasn't just shy, but had been badly bullied at school and Charlotte stuck up for him as she wasn't one to " judge a book by it's cover." Charlotte got to know Jonathan as a person and was a true friend who encouraged him and gave him confidence to perform with her by his side. He didn't have the confidence or belief in his talent as Charlotte and their singing teacher knew that he had great potential, and could have a bright future and realise his dreams.
At no point did Charlotte take advantage of his incredible talent, she put her dreams on hold in order to facilitate him to achieve his.
They had always planned to follow their own chosen genre of music from the beginning but Jonathan needed Charlotte by his side to be able to perform.
I honestly don't think that the comments about Charlotte's weight are appropriate tbh.
She's a talented, warm hearted person with a beautiful soul who was simply giving her friend Jonathan the support he needed so that he could realise his dreams and potential.
Neither of them could have envisioned that their duet would go viral. They were teenagers and were encouraged by their singing teacher to audition for BGT as she knew that it was the only way forward for Jonathan and his astounding voice.
Due to their singing teacher putting them as a duo we were all blessed to hear their amazing talent.
Many people share strong relationships as teenagers, but go their seperate ways and follow their own chosen path in life.
How many of you still have those closest of friends in your lives today?
Charlotte and Jonathan are no different.
Just be happy for them both, respect them and wish them both happiness in life as individuals.
For all we know Charlotte could have an undisclosed medical condition or could be on a medication that has lead to weight gain.
Why does it matter that she's gained weight anyway?
She's pursuing her career in music sharing her God given talent with us as is Jonathan.
Obviously this is my personal opinion and my interpretation of their story.
I don't think their friendship will ever die or be lost. True friends stay friends forever, even if they don't keep in touch for years they would be there in a heartbeat if the other needed them. Right now both of them are doing well and they don't "need" each other........ doesn't mean they lost the friendship just because each has gone their own way.

I agree with you 100% re Charlotte and Jonathan turning to each other during times of need if arose.
I rarely speak to my best friend of over 40yrs but I know that if either of us were in trouble and needed help which has happened in the past I'm always there for her in a heartbeat as she would be for me.
We don't feel the need for constant contact and are like sisters, there for each other when the **** hits the fan.
I love her to bits, we've been through a lot through out the years and always been there to support each other through traumatic times.

When simon first saw them walk on the stage, he made a terrible remark. He quickly changed his view. He lost 50 pounds, good for him. She gained 100 pounds. It happens. Get over it. Shes still charlotte. We dont know if anything bad happened between eachother. Nothing saying anything like that. Leave them alone and let life take them where theyre going to end up.

I think that part of their allure was that they helped each other.
They were simply Beauty and the Beast. He could not have made it without Charlotte because he lacked in emotional intelligence where she soared. Now that they have gone their separate ways, they will hopefully be grateful for each other looking back…
Cowell's initial assessment was 100% correct. Her voice really isn't anything special and she simply isn't capable of handling operatic material at the level he performs.

50lbs, me too, Intermittent fasting and no more drinking sugar or eating it, drink water, add lemons etc, just not sugar. That's it. Okay, one more thing, well two more things. Number 1 thing, don't eat before 10am and do not eat after 6pm. if you desperately need a sugar hit, eat an apple or orange, anything but eat or drink white sugar.
You do that, you will lose about a pound a day for a while then you will figure out what works and what doesn't. GL One more thing, not one bit of exercise did I do to lose that weight. Thanks Dr. Quong.

@emilyminer3530 If you knew anything about either of them you would know they were never great school friends -they were put together by a teacher for a music exam .Personally I am in regular contact with 4 of my friends.
I know quite a bit about him. At school she was the sort of girl who he wouldn't have thought would even know his name. Then she said she heard him singing one of her favorite songs "Bring Him Home" thru the wall from the classroom next door at school and had to find out who he was. She knew she wanted to be a part of that voice. So their teacher put them together for their exams and to sing at her wedding. When Charlotte signed up for the BGT audition she originally put just her own name down then she added Jon's name (without asking him) because she thought she would get farther with him than she would alone. It's a blessing to us all that he agreed to do it.

I always thought the shyness bit was overplayed at Simon Cowell's behest. Where would any of his shows be without the sentimental angle. JA soon lost his shyness when the big offers came rolling in. Cynical me.

The shyness was very real. Just ask those who knew him back then. But he overcame it when people started recognizing his massive talent and the hard work he did to get there. It took him longer to overcome the clinical depression but he is doing phenomenal now.
Definitely cynical .Jonathan had been through extremely rough and trying times-wasnt attending school and rarely ventured out of his front door.
The love and support of his family and devoted fans have helped him overcome most of his demons .
Capricorns are naturally insecure, aggravated by his autism and morbid obesity. When male judge challenged Jonathan's masculinity that Charlotte was doing the talking, Jonathan answered he was only shy sometimes, not playing up his shyness obvious from his shaking hands and mis-start Charlotte brought him strongly back from, in a beautiful illustration of the fabled lion & mouse helping each other. ♥ ♥

I know she mentioned how she’s protective of him and she would likely try to jump on me for what I’m gonna say, but John needs to lose some weight for health reasons. I’m no opera fan but that voice belongs in this world as long as possible.
He reminds me of those tenor guys from the 80s and 90s.
And I hope decades from now I see him getting the same fanfare and perhaps he and her sing songs together later in life.

He was and is a 10 out of ten. While she was and will always be a 7 out of 10. It was very much apparent in that first performance. She literally screeched "And watch us from above....."

have you done your research, 9 months ago, johnathon on his you tube channel was asking for public help and donations to make an album, i think, his best bet is back as a duo, thats the fame and nostagia, and can do many more songs as a couple, duet bigger than solo's
And it's a phenomenal album, I have 2 copies and love every song on it. It was done thru ArtistShare, and all the music was written by award-winning composer Diane Warren. And this December he will be performing in Australia at the prestigious "Carols in the Domain" as their international guest performer. Jonathan is as successful as he wants to be and won't sell his soul to the record companies. He is doing it his own way.
That is a ridiculous thing to suggest. They split because of the lack of decent songs to perform otherwise logic dictates they would still be together.
By Request is a great album and was put together by some great names in the business -the way funds were raised is not uncommon for artists without a record label behind them
@@marion521 does he need funds for record dal, which is a hand out, why not work the clubs, do one nights, get few quid, people would pay to see him, or does he want to sit on his arse and make a record, which he is not funding, I think some bad choices have been made, begging for help, get a job, do clubs, pay the rent, really, money he has had pass through his hands, the reason i say, get back, because she may have kept him grounded, i think he has been screwed by agents and the likes, making more money than him, i think as a pair and a come back, they may do ok together

He is soon going to Australia to perform before thousands there -that is the type of event this country should be affording him not pandering to the "old brigade" of singers we have or engaging foreign tenors who were once good and are no longer in their prime for major UK TV and events

No comparison to Jonathan and Charlotte, was it. But Got Talent shows are controlled by commercial agendas directing what the public can vote on, for results the producers want, that they expect to profit from the most, in volume
It's interesting that Jonathan lost weight, while Charlotte gained a lot of it.

She is really not that good of a singer. He is very talented with that gifted voice. The original assessment by the judge at the Got talent competition was prophetic and accurate.
