One of my fondest memories of working at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, was when a co-worker got "Employee of the Month" and they could pick their own "midnight movie." We all came up there and got really drunk and watched Last Action Hero at midnight, something I'd always wanted to do. Those who had never seen it were hooting and hollering and crying by the end.

Last Action Hero (the movie) is awesome. I remember buying it on DVD in like 2001 and watching the extras as well. There was a music video for BIG GUN that was used in the film, and I ended up becoming a massive AC/DC fan because of it!

Man I HATE that game too. I bought it at Gamestop when I was like 12 for I think more than 30 $ , because hey basketball + combat sounds awesome right? I could have got Chrono Trigger instead... or FFIII... or literally anything else.

For me, the tonal shift in the movie worked SO WELL. It was such a brutal whiplash, but deliberately I think, and it showed a huge contrast between the cartoon world of Jack Slater and our real gritty world... :)

Last Action Hero is truly an underrated film. If the movie was released just a few weeks after Jurassic Park, maybe it would’ve done better at the box office.

You talked so much longer about your other projects and this video is still shorter than most video game "worth playing" videos by far. Usually you manage to get a 5 minute video out and this is barely 2! but this is also the absolute correct way to advertise your other projects. Frickin awesome. I gotta check that out

Last Action Hero is one the best movies Arnie was ever in. A great parody of action movies. It sucks that it got savaged by critics and never received much love from cinema goers. One of my fav movies, Charles Dance is just such a delightful villain. Gonna check out your write-up!

Way easier to do reviews on Substack or some other platform. CZcams movie reviews frequently require fighting with false automatic copyright claims and stuff.
It's funny how fondly this movie is looked at these days when it absolutely bombed with critics and audiences at release. And I do agree, I think this movie is fantastic.

Some of my favorite SNES drunk videos are where he uses a terrible game to talk about something else. Masterpiece.
First, creativity is not limited to game reviews and editing, so good for you to go a different route! Also, this video is great! It's like WCW commentary for a main event match on Nitro and they're hyping everything else!

Glad I'm not the only one who thought the movie was severly underrated. It was a parody on the action hero genre of the 80s starring the guy who made it populat to begin with. Shame audiences didn't see that.
I like Last Action Hero. It kinda drags on a little bit at the end, but it doesn't ruin the movie for me. It did at the very least introduce me to Ingmar Bergman, & although I didn't watch his films until I was an adult, I was aware that as a kid of his films so when I was old enough, I remembered him from being mentioned in Last Action Hero.
The scene with Death coming out of the screen is from Bergman's most famous film The Seventh Seal. He is one of my favourite directors.
Last Action Hero was poorly received at the time, but if it can introduce an important world cinema director to a young kid like me then it doesn't deserve the flack it got.
I would love a SNESdrunk movie version on video. Could be cool and quickly informative. Good job as always
Personally I miss having more writing content available that are worth reading so this is great news for me. Definitely will check it out. Btw, I've always loved Last Action Hero (the movie) too, and it baffled me when I found out it was a big box office bomb. It's peak Arnold with a great supporting cast and lots of clever meta jokes. I bet it would be much more appreciated if it was a summer new release nowadays

I’m pretty sure the dev for this game apologized. He said in an interview that Arnold’s contract said that you couldn’t make games where he used guns, so they had to scrap a lot of ideas and just rush it out.

The background music reminds me of the background music from the SNES terminator 2 game. It was the last game I ever played on my SNES.

Last Action Hero is such an underrated movie. i passed on it as a kid and saw it as an adult - laughed my ass off. The 'trained dogs' scene reminded me of a Leslie Neilson movie. Definitley outside the box for Arnie, but a great flick on its own terms.
In this video it took SNESdrunk exactly 1 minute and 15 seconds until the mention of "Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball".

I always enjoy doing mock reviews for April Fools. Hearing about a game like this gets my attention.
The movie was kinda panned originally, but watching it again now, especially when we can compare it to similar kinds of action movies from modern times, it's clear it's actually a lot better than many people originally gave it credit for. It's clearly not Arnie's best movie, but it's a very enjoyable action flick.

recently rewatched Last action hero as part of Blank Check's series on john mctiernan and it absolutely whips! everyone should revisit it!
