They have brought one of these festivals to parts of Florida, and I used to feel like I was missing out on something enjoyable for the Muslim community but after speaking with other sisters and seeing some videos of the events, I am no longer feeling that FOMO. I already was wary about making Ramadan about staying up late and eating food - to top it off the sisters and brothers are mixing freely, playing music, wasting a lot of time, etc. May Allah guide us all

SubhanAllah, assuming you're talking about Tampa, I heard about it.
It is deeply disturbing this festival took place, using Islam to create a gathering completely against it! Free mixing, music, sisters without hijab roaming freely among the brothers, even skipping worship to show up to disgusting things like this, go pray Isha and Taraweeh Jama'a rather than attend fitnafest.
To be fair, the places hosting don't have much of a choice since their customers are Muslims, but this does not justify anything..
The fact there are people still trying to get it to reopen is extremely sad
May Allah protect the Ummah from Fitna.

From the fatawa of shaikh ibn baz rahimahullaah:
the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If the people see an evil and do not change it, soon Allaah will punish them all.”
And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever among you sees an evil action, then let him change it with his hand [by taking action]; if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out]; and if he cannot, then with his heart - and that is the weakest of faith.”
This is general in meaning and applies to all evil actions, whether they are on the road, in the home, in the mosque, on an airplane, on a train, in a car or anywhere else. This applies to both men and women. A woman can speak and a man can speak, enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil, because this is in the interests of all and concerns the salvation of all.
It is not permissible to keep quiet about that to avoid upsetting the husband, brother or anyone else. But it should be done with good manners and kind words, not with violence and harshness, paying attention to suitable times. Some people may not be open to advice at some times, but at other times they may be willing to accept it. The believing man and woman pay attention to the appropriate times for denouncing evil and enjoining good, and they should not despair and think that the one who does not accept it today will not accept it tomorrow. The believing man should not despair and the believing woman should not despair, rather they should carry on denouncing evil and enjoining what is good with sincerity towards Allaah and His slaves, and thinking positively of Allaah and hoping for the reward that is with Allaah.
      Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz (4/50).

Even the name suhoor fest could be playing with the deen. Suhoor is a sunnah of the prophet salallaahu alayhi wasallam and these people make it into a festival or a party like the kuffaar do with their celebrations. Suhoor based on ahaadeeth can be simply a sip of water or dates.

I’m a convert (or revert whatever you want) but to speak to saajids point please do not on our behalf start adding and changing the religion at all, stand firm upon Quran and sunnah, when you start being lenient to try and please people you actually cause more fitnah because as a con/revert in the beginning I had absolutely no idea what is/isnt haram, I thought things that were HARAM were fine/not to bad, this is why I ask Allah to bless the salafi dawah CZcamsrs as when I watched a lot of mainstream guys (will not say names as backbiting) but when I watched them I’d “feel good” but wouldn’t actually learn anything as they never really spoke on anybign meaningful, when the salafi dawah guys brought the evidence even with firmness I actually started to learn and improve (may Allah guide me and the ummah) reality is if anyone loves Allah they will accept the truth regardless who brings the evidence or how firm they are, of course that doesn’t mean purposely be harsh or rude but even if they were, we love Allah not personality we must tell the truth even if it’s uncomfortable and if someone like me has even an ounce of truth in belief in them then they’ll accept

Reminds me of Menk x Islam channels "Light upon Light event".
Was newly practising, didnt know nothing about the deen at the time, barely wearing proper hijab...i just saw a talk was being done by a "religious scholar" and thought oh lemme go learn something and connect with some sisters 😂 Never went back again. Worse thing was i went my mum who i was trying to soften up towards the deen.
Tell me why in the front of the building, right outside the doors, you had brothers and sisters free mixing/mobile numbers being exchanged. Everybody could see so you can bet the great Mufti of Deoband saw. Did he address it? Do pigs fly? No.
You eventually learn that not every muslim is sincere and just cuz someone calls himself a Mufti it doesnt mean he is. If i saw the same video after i went id 100% agree with the brother and it would have helped with the confusion i felt after attending.

For me personally, I am not perfect myself and will focus on that primarily and ask for protection for feeling like I am above others (arrogance). If I see other Muslims doing wrong, I will gently remind them that its prohibited or encourage them to do a positive thing (like attend Jummah for example). I will not, shame them or cut them off, because at the end of the day, regardless of what they are doing wrong, they are my brother in Islam who I love for the sake of Allah. I also know to pick my battles, you can't go around pointing out everything or it's too much for them so pick on the major issues. I don't care if someone may have paintings of living things in their house for example and wont say anything if I know for example they are not praying 5 times a day because that is a more important battle.

Al-Bayhaqi narrated in az-Zuhd al-Kabeer (180) with a saheeh isnaad from al-Hasan al-Basri that it was said to him: People come to your gathering to pick on any error you may make, so that they can make it a reason to gossip about you. He said: Do not worry about it, for I thought of the pleasure of being close to Allah and I hope for that; I thought of Paradise and I hope for that; I thought of al-hoor al-‘een and I hope for that; I thought of being safe from people, and I found no way to achieve that. When I saw that people are not pleased with their Creator, I realized that they will never be pleased with a created being like themselves.

In Islam listening to music and freemixing is Haram, both of which occurred at Suhoor Fest. There are almost always other places to get food that do not have these things, and you can always cook and eat at home. I know a common rebuttal can be that most restaurants nowadays have music playing. Almost Every Muslim in a country that isn't war torn like Palestine have the option to cook and eat at home Alhamdullilah or get food delivered to them if they have the money for that. Going to Suhoor Fest and going to most restaurants nowadays with music playing and listening to that music even if your just there to get food and with no other reason is still Haram in Islam. People might find it extreme but please remember that this life is the only chance we will ever get and Jannah is worth missing out on every pleasure of this world.

Two different situations. Suhoor Fest is managed by Muslims. They have the choice to make it free from free mixing and music.

it's like going to a Christmas market to get food, there's no reason to when the vent itself was haram from the beginning

Can any1 tell me a bit more about this Suhoor fest? Why are people getting angry at those going to it? I'm generally against this concept of making Ramadan a food fiesta where restaurants have all you can eat offers for iftaar. Ramadan is a month to increase worship, not to increase our trips to the restaurants/ food trucks around the city. But why did people target this specifically.
Yes Palestinians are going through horrific stuff daily and not to forget those in Sudan too, but do we stop enjoying ourselves which could potentially be for years and years to come? My qs again is why target this event specifically. Apologise if I sound ignorant

@@thaknobodi alhamdulilah, a muslim has to be careful from these people who make freemixing events, or call to them like omar suleiman. People have lost their hayaah because of them, muslim households have been ruined and many other things. No need to ask them brother.
