I’m actually crying so hard rn, I love StarCraft II so much and can’t wait for something to keep it’s genre alive! I love how there are still people who care about RTS and respect how amazing it truly is
For me its far more about the modding culture and all the fun modded games. Was to me far better than playing vanilla 500x for eternity, vanilla and its campaign was still cool but the custom stuff? that was insanity and what kept Warcraft alive for so long
You had dungeon crawler maps and such better than entire games on Steam or grand strategy maps literally similar to Hearts of Iron 4 but with everyone being a player and as a RTS. It was amazing
I'm really looking forward the Editor. I'm one of the people who created the very fun minigame map "Star Party" inspired by mario party. I'd really like to make some sort of fun party game for Stormgate custom games. We'll see !
StarParty had it's own map-editor that saved actor position, model, color, etc. in a bank text file and used that to load any terrain on the fly for each minigame. It's pretty awesome. If you were to open the main map in the editor, you would see absolutly no doodads or units, everything is loaded dynamicly. It allowed an unlimited number of minigames to be created. I always wished to continue it. Remaking something like it for Stormgate would be aesome.

My first RTS is, ironically, the very first major RTS ever : Dune 2. On my first play, i played 12 hours non stop. It was damn great! :)

My very first RTS game was the LEGO flash game CrystAlien Conflict, which I only learned years later was based on Command and Conquer
I truely hope for another GIANT studio that just straight up delivers amazing games.

My first RTS that i played was Warbreeds by red orb in 1997/8 followed by Dark Reign (published by Activision) and my all time Favourite Starcraft and i really hope that warbreeds actually gets a release date for steam (it already had one before but now it only says "soon")

Cool Frost Giant, It’s very cool so far, Great Work. However I feel the buildings could do with some visual improvements in their design/aesthetic. Can you make the buildings more interesting and cool? A lot of them, especially from the human faction look kind of uninteresting… One of the things that is great about Warcraft 2 and 3 and Starcraft is that the buildings are so iconic and have so much character, each one is distinctive and easily identifiable. Also, the terrain side of things in terms of adding more of the details such as ‘exotic plants’, environmental effects such as different colour mists/fog in some areas and ruins to make the terrain more engaging, which really enhances the immersive feeling, also interactive terrain which can be blown up or somehow modified for realistic but also tactical gameplay! Looking forward to this Game, why not make it the best RTS yet, and outdo the other in EVERY Way… ‘The devil is in the details’. 💙
I would have to definitely agree on the part of the building designs feel very generic and lacking unique looks.
I must be kinda cool starting up a new company like this even if its hard work

I love everything i see so faar! Just one thing plzz plzz make atlest 4! Races! You guys have said we aim for a "couple" of races= minimum 4" but.. I play sc1 competeative in small leauges, but every level of skill level dont like mirror ma5ch ups, 3 races as sc have is to low, its better with warcraft point of view to avoid more mirror mactes by adding just one addsional race 🎉❤
Exactly good shout, 4 races is the more balanced, optimal amount!

Но я помню тот великий момент когда после пяти поражений подряд я построил танкер для сбора специй и впервые задовил им пехоту врага , тогда я понял что это лучшая игра всех времен 😅 и мою череду побед былне остоновить , пока я не постовил болте сложных ботов 😅😅

It's so nice end interesting that a bunch of ex Employees from major Game studios Decided to come Together and to make a new studio instead of just working low paying jobs or work the same bullshit That's going on right now I know you guys are gonna make great games they probably won't revolutionize gaming like they used to back in the day But that shouldn't matter in the end As long as the games are fun and don't have all the bullshit that's going on They may last a lifetime for both old and new generation gamers!

This really looks like a real shot at RTS in a new era. My only gripe is the heroes. They look incredibly bland at the moment, especially if they are for sale later on. But other than that, the initial impression is great. Especially the fact that you allow players to an ingame editor. Day 1 Dota/LoL mod incoming.
"They look incredibly bland at the moment" > OG League of Legends heroes were pretty basic too. Master Yi and Chogath had very ugly and uninspired designs. Even Lux looked horrible but she had a funny 'imma firing ma lazor' so who cared.
I don't care about the designs as much as I care about the overall feeling of the gameplay. An old Blizzard mantra was 'gameplay first', let's hope this team honors that legacy.
True. I've seen a bit of gameplay on Asmongolds channel. Ofc, hes not an RTS Gamer, but it looked quite nice in general. Let's hope for the best. @@OsefFTW
@@OsefFTW I love the focus on gameplay first and player and community features. The magic of SC2 was the community and the stories, but also the stories told by Blizzard. A zergling or marine may have some cool designs, but it was the cinematics that brought them to life and made them so memorable. Same with Warcraft and its cutscenes.
You make a good example with League of Legends, but they also took a step further with Arcane and its characters.
It's an aspect that Blizzard was masters at, but has really dropped the ball on lately. The only two memorable characters from the recent years to me are Kiriko and Lilith. World of Warcraft has nothing going for it and Dialbo 4 world building is from my viewpoint terribly lacking, but importantly the gameplay is fun.
As long as they make Stormgate a fun game, they can take time later to make heroes and unites come to life and become iconic in a universe I'm excited to learn more about.

The people introduced here were rather senior folks. In my experience the best games are mostly made by nolifing youngsters in their 20s.
For some reason when I hear talks about how passionate we are and so forth that does not convince me of true passion. True passion would be talking about StormGate how cool it will be etc. This team comes off as a group of seniors reminiscing about the past.
I hope the team now understands and learned that most casuals dont enjoy cheesing and annoying strategies to be overwhelmingly abundant.
Ive seen countless games succumb to the cheap easy mode strategies, and see everyone i know leave bceause of it.
My irl friends dont play starcraft because they dislike cheese gameplay. Being annoying with units is the opposite route they should be going if they want to retain a casual playerbase in competetive modes.
Is unreal engine realism and ray tracing too much to ask? How incredible would it be to control units that look real walking around landscapes that look like your above in a helicopter...

I'm somewhat conflicted about Stormgate, in a great way, it speaks to me and I do believe it's gonna be a great game, but it also means that we'll let Starcraft go for real this time...
Congrats for successful kickstarter :) Aside from how ugly the game is everything else should click with RTS gamers.
Update: they just burned through nearly $40M and are now looking for more money on Indiegogo and by selling shares in their studio to players. Hold onto your wallets boys and girls.

Please turn up the sound. The sound is so quiet and boring that I feel sleepy and unable to concentrate when I watch the game videos. I think the number one chronic problem with Starcraft2 and Stormgate is poor sound. need more strong likes sc1... don't need reality. seem to forget the importance of sound. don't need a silencer for war.
Erm sorry the animation isn't ok, the whole game is awesome except that it looks so mobile game-ish, that its bad compared to the level of SC II and WC III
I would agree with everything you said except that the game is awesome. It's really nothing special, particularly for supposed industry veterans with a $40M budget.
Nobody cares, rts is dead, sc2 was the peak and this game looks like a bad copy
What did frostgiant mean by having like 12 of it's employee's admit they are bad at rts? It is a good video but I still have Diablo 4 designers being bad at video games in my mind :p
being good at games doesn't mean being good at making them, but being passionate and caring about games helps a lot
