Heard one of these for the first time the other week. Here in Australia I think they are quite rare. The example that I heard sounded exactly like yours at 6:02. I was taken back, because I was cruising along side it for a while, thinking it was just a regular modern 5 Series, and then it took off into the exit ramp and I heard the exhaust note echo throughout the underpass. Really nice sounding engine, that's for sure.
I listened to you, I just had my 540i M sport muffler deleted. OMG !!! Like a new car all over again it sounds really really good!!!!! I couldn’t be happier. Thanks for your video!
Same. I’m in love
Hey, you’ve had it for a few months now. Any updates on how it’s been and how’s the drone ?
Same Q here? Any regrets? Any drone or issues with neighbours 😅
Only muffler delete or you modified downpipe too?
Update: I went for a muffler and single resonator delete and oh my Lord I'm so happy, fan-boy everytime I get in the car, all thanks to God!
Yes: lowkey the cold starts are the only issue in terms of annoying neighbours
Uhhh yeah I'm definitely doing this! Thanks for the video brother!
Hey man! Saw u and ur car yesterday. You started up in the parking lot and I was surprised because it was LOUD! and I didn’t think it would be coming from your car lol
Wow thats awesome. What a small world. Where abouts did you see me?
Also, the car is very loud for like 5-7 seconds then its not that loud at all.
Thank you for this great video bro! Debating if I should do this to my car as well!
Brother, no word of a lie but I watched all your vids before I bought my 540. Appreciate the love.
As per the exhaust, if you are okay with loud start ups then its worth it. Also its stupid cheap to do and even cheaper to revert so cant really lose too much you know.
Best of luck
Sick video
Hi did you use the original pipes? What do you think now driving I while still happy whit the exhaust sound or tired of it?
Thanks
Awesome video!! I’ve been contemplating an M Performance exhaust but for the price, I think I’m doing this tomorrow!
Awesome, I think the price doesnt justify the performance and I think for a fraction of the price, this option is wayyyy better. cheers
How loud it is ? Did u ever mesure dB ? I would like to do same thing with my exhoust but in Polish law it cant be louder than 93dB
Solid video thanks
what muffler delete pipe should I use for a 2022 540i g30?
did u take off the mid muffler? and also does this throw any code
Great video and great to see another Torontonian, any recommendations on shops in the area?
Hey do you get any drone in your car? I have dp tune intake and miffler delete still have the resanator but hellla drone
740i B58 muffler delete? What do you guys think?
How did u disconnect the exhaust valve
That's crazy. But i love it
…I didn’t want any welding point(s) at the pipes and exhaust tips…so I purchased Remus cat-back exhaust system w/ 4” quad exhaust tips for that OEM+ looks. I would say the exhaust system sounds quiet under comfort setting, and loud during Sport+ mode.
I love the remus system. I think you made an excellent decision. I cheaped out lol
awesome, thanks and now cant wait to get mine done :)
Awesome. Definitely worth it.
@@hasib223 got mine done today and wow best sound ! This is how it should have been out of the factory. And yep not that loud.
Rob I am that’s Awesome. Its so worth it. Considering the alternative is $3k+ exhaust system for basically the same sound. Congrats
@@hasib223 yep totally agree :)
@@hasib223 would be interesting to hear a cheap straight-through muffler(dynomax bullet type) instead of blatant pipes. Id imagine it would be almost as loud, but less raw and less drone. if so.. id prefer it. your setup sound good tho. if power was the objective(and legal) id probably try catless downpipe with the original muffler in place first, and go on from there
hey i am in mississauga, the total cost is $150 including exhaust and everything?
Is there any drone in the highway driving?
did you open the flap permamently?
is it just a muffler delete no other pipes added?
Hey man quick one where is the flap located on the exhaust
Very nice
This shit sounds good damn 🔥🔥🔥
Hey do you often get pulled over for it or no?
What about Check engine light on Coming up
Can you tell me what shop is it?
How is the drone on the highway/freeway for you? I always love a muffler delete but most of the time I get tired of the drone after a while. But given that the 5 series have really good sound deadening, I’m wondering if the drone is even bad at all.
My ideal setup for this car would be M performance exhaust, catted downpipe, and stage 2
I want to get a 540i now bc I love the b58 and the 540i seems to be really good value rn compared to the other cars with the b58 engine in it.
It definitely still drones, but its not horrible. It doesnt bother me and I rarely think about it, but if you are very sensitive to it then maybe be careful
@@hasib223 do u need to do any cutting to remove the muffler or can it simply be bolted off ? Also if u remove the muffler do the exhaust tips come out with it ?
I have a 2017 540 I’m doing the muffler deleting tomorrow but my thing is does it give you any popping like when you take your food if acceleration as if it had the down pipe and tuning ??that’s the sound I’m really looking for ?
It will give you a little bit of that but a Downpipe or a burble tune would give you more. slow speeds you will hear some popping
Just got a clean 2017 540i with m sport package but with stock exhaust. I am thinking the same with your setup but with dual tip akrapvoic exhaust tips! Sick sound!
Nice i bought same normal model 540i want to increase sound too
@@terminator4974 gonna post a vid of mine. Thinking of doing a remus catback
Thanks for the vidéo man, i got the same vehicle how did you disconnect the system at the start of the engine for the stock exhaust please ?
Are you talking about the exhaust flap or the actual muffler?
The flap is easy, there is a wire connected to the exhaust tips and you just unplug that.
The muffler itself can not be removed without welding tools.
Just got me a 2018 540i and thinking of doing a muffler delete. By doing this, would it cause me to not pass smog checks in the future?
Congrats on picking up a great car. No this would not cause any Smog check related issues. That would be your catalytic converters and your Downpipes. Those would have an effect on your smog. Mufflers are only related to the sound of your car.
Great video! I’ve got a 530i with a 4 cylinder B48 engine. I was about to get an M performance silencer for 2000 usd because I was afraid muffler deleting would make the engine sound too loud. Considering the fact that 530i sounds less loud than 540i, do you recon muffler deleting would be a safe choice for me if I dont want my car to disturb the neighbors? And I would also like to know if burbles and pops could be heard with only muffler deleting, without modifying the engine?
Thank you 🙏🏼
Thank you for the kind comment.
I have seen a couple of the 2.0 BMW engines with muffler deletes and they dont sound too bad but keep in mind that you can muffler delete for so cheap that it makes sense just to try it before going the expensive route. 150$ max at a good shop. If its too loud or has a bad tone then just put it back on for 75$ and your basically okay. The burbles will be there but with a muffler delete dont expect massive amounts of them. Usually people will tune in burbles, or remove their downpipes which might not be recomendable. good luck, let me know how it goes.
@@hasib223 Thank you so much for the feedback! I will let you and the thread know what results I achieve.. All the best! 🙏🏼👍🏽
@@lexinaeducation8414so how’s this work out for you? Did you just got muffler delete?
When you disconnected the sensor for the flap did any warnings came on the dash ?
No it won't cause any lights.
What year is this 540i ? I just bought a 2021 540i and am thinking of doing this. I already did an ECU flash but still left me wanting a louder/more aggressive sound
this is a 2018. The 2021 will be roughly the same noise. Go for it. Its cheap and easily reversible.
What mods have u done i have the same car
Hey, what did you do to get the exhaust valve to stay open
BimmerLink
Hi .. great video.. I will be getting a 2019 540i and only thing I was complaining about was not enough noise from this beautiful car. Where can do muffler delete in Toronto ? Thanks
you can go to Felix Muffler in Scarborough. He did mine for cheap. like 200$
Ah ah Scarbro ting!
@@mr.starks you already know fam!
Does it throw any codes when you delete the muffler and can you do it with no tunes
Yes
Question how did u remove the exhaust flap?
you dont remove it, you can disconnect it and zip tie it temporarily in the open position, pretty easy to reverse but kinda ghetto
How u get that flap for muffler open bro ? Sick noise
I disconnected the cable and kept it in the open position,
Can u pls tell me how can i get rid of that flap
hey bro I removed it manually when I did the muffler delete. I dont know how to keep it open without the muffler delete
How do you disconnect the flap in the exhaust without having the check engine light come on ?
It won't come out if you disconnect.
@@zhihengli8051how do u tuck it away ? Do u need tape or something ?
@@shelbyhaiketic4212 use a plastic wrap and zip tie
Does it do anything for fuel economy?
No. Strictly for the exhaust being louder
How loud is it after the muffler delete inside? Is it annoying? Or its still quiet inside?
I would say its about 7/10 in terms of Loudness. Its just a little loud first 10 seconds of startup but becomes very tame and not that loud after
@@hasib223 and how is it inside while you drive?
@@MaDDoX821 Really good. You wont be annoyed because its not too loud. Not much drone either.
Do you have a 540? or a 3/440?
@@hasib223 540i
I had previously 428i and muffler delete done, it was really loud outside and inside also :D
Hi from Toronto! Would you be able to share with me where you got it done??
Felix Muffler, in Scarborough
@@hasib223 awesome! Thank you very much! Any updated tunes on your 540i, I’m getting DP done shortly and muffler shortly
@@johnchang7537 Yes, I have a 200 cel DP installed and a BM3 stage 2 91 tune on it. its so crazy, I smoke most cars easily on the road. Ive had it for 3 months now and I love it
@@hasib223 That's cool! I'm considering about getting MHD stage 2, 91 as well after getting the VRSF DP next week! where about you in Toronto?
@@johnchang7537 MHD is great . you will love it. I live in vaughan and I work downtown.
Did you do just the rear muffler or the resonator too?
just the muffler
Hey bro, how did you manage to open the flap on 540i ?
i can’t confirm if this is true but i saw on another video it opens with sport/sport +
@@jjccob yes, once you hit a certain RPM it opens
Is a "resonator delete" and "muffler delete" mean the same thing?
No a muffler is in the back and the res are under the car in the middle.
As the guy above me said, resonators are much smaller and in the middle of the exhaust system. The muffler is the final piece before the tips. The job of the muffler is to reduce noise, “muffle” the noise
@@hasib223 did you just assume my gender! 🧜
@@hasib223 in all reality I was gonna include more information thanks for picking up the slack. My bathroom break was over lol
@@llkjjjss Lol well I will give you credit for a good comment, thats for sure
Ignorant question: does a muffler delete impact emissions testing?
no, that would be your catalytic converter. Mufflers only effect the sound, nothing else
How much for removing the muffler?
I got it done for 150 here in Canada, I suspect the same price in U.S also
@@hasib223 Will it pass emission/inspections?
wait a minute! I got 540i as well but my exhaust looks so different! The whole cat is right under the boot i didnt see yours tho?
Your cat would never be under your boot. Its always the muffler at the end of the exhaust. Your cats are much smaller and usually in the middle of the system.
The muffler is taken out. hence why you cant see it anymore. Just ask your exhaust shop to remove the mufflers, I wouldnt touch the cats
@@hasib223 sorry i don’t know that much about car parts and might mix them up from time to time. I’ trying to learn as I go. So what is the thing under the boot then?
@@Biotorn No problem at all. You came to the right place. Under the boot is the muffler. Its one large unit that has the exhaust tips on the end of them. Thats the piece we remove to get more noise as the only job of that unit is to quiet the car, it doesnt really serve any other purpose.
@@hasib223 ok tho im curious why does my 540i sound so loud then. I don’t know what has been done to it except stage 1. 421hp 611nm to the wheels. All mufflers under different 540i look different also it looks like 540i m performance kit but cannot be sure and the shop had no idea about the tune either.
@@hasib223 is it just normal for it sound so aggressive? I love the sound and so does my family 😂
Rip at 06:05 hehe
bro. sounds like stock under acceleration. the tone isn’t as good as stock tho
I dont think it sounds anything like stock. The problem is that the sound does not translate well on video. Its pretty loud and even has burbles.
If you have a MPPSK maybe then it might sound like a stock version of that.
@@hasib223 even if it’s louder, i was saying the tone sounds raspy and not good
hey bro your car is sick im thinking about getting a g30 and i wanted to ask some questions if you have insta we could talk on there, it would be appreciated.
