- I Was Inside Kmart As It Closed For Good. While I was inside walking around, the last 2 pieces of merchandise were sold and the store closed its doors. So I had to wrap up the video a little bit short. But at least I was inside for Kmart's final minutes.

It's always a little gut wrenching seeing glorious stores from your childhood getting closed down and the building abandoned...
My son and I were in the last KMart in Lexington, KY Friday to see if anything was, left before they close their doors for good. My son actually bought a Kmart Santa suit with the KMart logo on the Santa hat.
Melanie Raleigh That sucks the store closed but that's an awesome find! Don't ever let that go. Especially if the company eventually goes belly up.
I would have liked to buy the front sign.
@@WallieB26 you predicted the future
I got a great deal on a “wet floor” sign!
Lol
I remember they used to have this deli-style cafe & they had the best hoagies! Grew up on KMart so it is sad.
Ditto. If you watch my Butler, PA Kmart video, you'll hear my story about the one I went to every Sunday with my Grandpa after my Grandma died. My Grandpa died in 2010 and I still went there to shop but then it closed in 2014 and it a nothing more but a memory now.
miraclegirl same here and it was still doing ok before Wal-Mart open
I remember getting some awesome nachos from the Cafe.
Same here, used to be great Saturday for kids on the east side and Lawrence Park and Harborcreek to go on a nice Saturday. Then over to putt putt across the street or the pool at the YMCA, or the pool hall, or even the 2 screen theater. Now only the YMCA is left.
Hey it's a little sad but something's better is going to come along
When we were little we used to have a chant...
♪ K-Mart, K-Mart that's our store. We go there cause we are poor. Gooooooooooooooooooo K-Mart ♪
The doors, rows of lights, and round vents are like the store I grew up going to. It closed in 2015 and is now a Ross. Strangely enough, the vintage Sunland Motel neon sign on the next block has been removed, but at least the Starlite Motel's famous neon Diving Lady still lives on, diving every night into a pool that was filled in long ago. We still have the Power Rd Kmart across from Superstition Springs Mall, but I believe it has also been on the chopping block.
Last year I visited the Fiesta Mall Best Buy store on it's last day of operation. It was sad. Mall entrance was closed and merchandise was condensed to the exterior entrance. I believe a lot of merchandise like the movies and music were shipped to othet stores, but they still had stuff like video games. I came back a couple days later on Monday and the exterior sign was laying on the ground as they prepared to take it away. You could see the labelscar and dangling cables. The following weekend, the store opened one last time for a fixture sale.
Enrique Cortez Wow. That is sad indeed. And working for Target for 6 years, any time movies or music doesn't sell, 99% of the time it will get sent back to the distribution center to go to either another store or be sold online only for Target or Amazon, etc. They very rarely get clearanced out.
WallieB26 Yeah, some things are priced at a corporate standard. I worked at Sears long ago. Certain brands like Levi's, Docker's and Nike are sold within a price range set by their corporate. The store is not allowed to go below a certain point. Of they ever wrnt clearance, it was usually allowed by the manufacturer because they discontinued it and all other retailers carrying the same thing is allowed to do the same. I think it usually went closeout, which at Sears would always be $x and 88 cents.
K-Mart closed here recently, gonna miss that place so much childhood memories. Makes me miss the 90's even more and the late 80's.
When you were walking around the back of the store, the people talking was surreal. Sounded like they were very distant. I had headphones on so it really made an erie echo sound. Good video.
KLM817 Thank you. Yeah, you'd be surprised how far noise carries in an empty store. You should hear what it sounds like inside the abandoned Ames. The echo goes on forever.
I used to work as the stocker in Kmart my college years... 1985... I thank you very much for the video... Very unfortunate but everything comes to an end.,..
I worked at the Weirton Kmart that closed back in March. So so sad. I will never forget it. I still miss working there to this day. Ours closed up later in the evening around 5:00p. I like your videos. Keep it up.
I work at Kmart Guam and its still kicking ass, I honestly don't want Walmart to come to Guam.
First video showing the shopping baskets ready for ship out, good job!!
tmm226 Yeah, it's about time. I'm glad to see they will be used elsewhere. I was confused as to why the shopping carts were stacked on pallets rather than just rolled into a trailer to be transported. Seems like this was a hell of a lot of work to stack them.
In Pennsylvania a Big K-Mart is still operating. It gets a good amount of business.
Is it open as of 2021?
Not anymore. Florida, New York, New Jersey, Montana. California, and Michigan are the only states left with a Kmart. Half of those has two or more Kmarts. New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
Reminds me of what happened to W.T. Grant back in 1976.
Re-watching this for at least the third time. My childhood K-Mart. ❤️. Days of Blue Light Specials, shopping with family and friends, and my dad hanging with the cop at the cop station at the front of the store. He hated to shop, unless he needed something from automotive. lol.
So sad. Good times.
Goodnight Kmart ty for the great sales and memories....
Wow. I used to shop at this K-Mart before I moved to Pittsburgh. Great video.
Sad to see Kmart go...ours is closing for good in Shawnee OK in a few weeks
Donna Mullins That sucks. 😦
I was at the Garden City, Michigan, Kmart the last day it was open in March 2017. Kmart number one, the original store (March 1962). Sad day. Then left and went over to the Westland, Michigan Kmart the same day for it's last day (opened in 1966).
I’m lucky that I live 5 minutes from a Kmart that’s still open.
Is it still open?
@@MxCartney_Lou nope shutdown
I live in SoCal and in my po dunk town, we have two abandoned K Marts and an abandoned old Wall Mart. Love watching your videos!!! Thank you!
My heart is so heavy. I know what’s it like to have your store shut down.
This is a great video! Love your content!
Computers 101!!! Thank you so much!
It's so crazy to see it this way. I lived right up the road form this store for years.
Very sad all these stores are going out:(, K-Mart, Eckerd, Winn-Dixie(in some locations) grew up on K-Mart from late to mid 2000’s..... Truly sad it’s like apart of your childhood is missing now
My local Kmart (Jackson , Wyoming) just closed down on Sunday Feb 16 2020. I went there the last day and it looked exactly like this!! You could come back the next day and buy shelving , racking, pallet jacks , even cash registers , for next to nothing. One day sale, and then the store would be completely empty.
Rumor is that Planet Fitness will be moving in soon , we will see..
Just a sign of the times. Kmart was beginning to decline by the time I was born (I was born in 1989), but this decade was when things started to take a turn for the worst. They’ve been closing stores for years now and, before you know it, they might not see 2018, let alone 2019. It’s sad!!
So many memories come from this very Kmart. My family and I would visit this place at least once a week since the 70s. We would eat at the cafeteria in the back and spend hours with each shopping trip. I remember asking the nice lady at the layaway counter to buzz me in to the Men's room. My mother loved this store. It would have broken her heart to see it's demise. 😢
Enjoying your vids! You don’t overdramatize and have a good attitude. Would like to see the series named “EXPLORE WITH YINZ”... ha... happy new year!
The one by my house closed earlier this year, still an empty store front. The one in Franklin TN(where I grew up, went there a lot as kids) closed 3-4 years ago and almost immediately turned into an "At Home" store. I have a hunch the one by my house might sit empty a while longer, Franklin is filfthy rich, there isn't a vacant storefront or abandoned anything in a 25 mile radius.
Gotta love those Steelers. Spoken from a true fan.
TheSQUALLLINE Thank you! I watch them because I love them and it helps keep my mind off of the things that cause me stress in this world. I don't like to talk about or think about what's going on with the anthem crap. I just want to enjoy the game of football to forget everything else. Plus, I've been a diehard fan since I was born thanks to my Dad and both my Grandpas.
WallieB26 Your quite welcome! Same here. I grew up with my dad watching them. I agree 100% about the anthem and how people keep talking about it. There are more important things that people should worry about. You can just call me Mike if you would like. That is my name.
TheSQUALLLINE Thanks Mike!
WallieB26 Your quite welcome!
It seems more and more Kmarts are closing rapidly these days. The one in my hometown closed down about 3 years ago and found some good buys in the liquidation sales. The last one remaining in my state got the ax in late March so Kmart is officially absent in my state as of now.
Your right,is pretty clear Kmart & Sears will become another retail memory.🆑
Louis Aloi That's why I'm trying to collect as much Kmart nostalgia as I can now before it becomes too late and practically impossible to find.
I went to Penn State Behrend, and I used to go to that KMart. I also remember going to the KMart in Bridgeville quite a bit when I was growing up.
Just found out the Kmart close to my house is going to be closed in March and I'm going to be sad me and my sister's grew up going to this Kmart and you actually gave me an idea great video!
It's so DEPRESSING when a GOOD store closes for good! I really liked Kmart too.
I remember when they stopped accepting orders and when it closed. It is very sad to see it abandoned now. I wish they didn’t have to close.
This had the same layout at the former Corunna Michigan Big Kmart I grew up shopping at. I wonder if by chance any random fixtures from this store ended up at the Sears I work for. We have a storage area packed full of fixtures and we actually sell them at our store in the former portrait studio. I've never sold any but they're for sale if customers want them. lol
Kmart, an American Retail Dynasty slowing being dismantled, it's over.
tmm226 I agree.
The KMart by my house in Maryland just shut down a few years ago is now a Marshalls its so mind blowing. They still had an OG Little Caesars and Cafe.
Store closing signs belong to the liquidator, they have about 600 plus stores to go, they will be put to use.
Speaking of other things by me on Lake Street in Minneapolis, the Arby's there that had the older "big hat" sign for its entire 45-year existence has been closed since January and there was quite the hoopla here when it had its curtain call. I kid you not, there was a candlelight vigil a few months back after they closed prior to when they were going to take that old sign down. Even though there are a few other Arby's in the area that still have the "big hat" sign, for whatever reason those around the area felt the need for a candlelight vigil for it. Why? Who knows... It'll definitely be something interesting to look at for the year in review for our parts at year's end.
reminded me of a sketch from the kids show "All That". In it there was this whole pants store called "We got pants". They only had one pair on a rack. By the time sketch ended the pair sold and then they said "Now what?"
Thank you. Good video
Loved the blue light special cart,,lol I want one to indicate where the party is
Good Job man, another chapter closed in your epic journey. Where to next?
I was working in the kamar,2000 to 2015.I miss k.mart .
I miss this place 😞
I went to the one in Bridgeview, Illinois, and they didn’t have what I was looking for (radio), but I got something I still could use. It doesn’t have a KCafe, let alone a Little Caesars. It was pretty busy still. It’s not on the chopping block (yet), but who knows.
Wow .. here on guam since we dont have Walmart or target , kmart is still very popular and I could be wrong but from what I read we have the biggest kmart in the world.. I've been to the Kmart in WA and ours here is a lot bigger! I could be wrong.. but growing up shopping at kmart it saddens me to see kmart closing its door back there
I saw a TV.
Just sad... Those stores we're such a big part of my childhood. Strangely though, in the area I live now, the Kmart near where I live in uptown Minneapolis on Lake Street still looks to be thriving. No going out of business sign or anything to make you believe that they're going to close.
Seeing a store close before your eyes is like seeing a good friend die right before your eyes. It's sad!
This is exactly how the Kmart in my town used to look until it went out of business back in 2018, I remember it being closed down for awhile until they remodeled the whole building and turned it into a clinic and bunch of other offices connected to it, I had a lot of good memories going shopping there especially around the holidays and when there was sales, and my best memory is when my parents took me and my brothers to go look around in this store when we were little we would always want to go straight to the toy section and look at some cool things we liked while they shopped, I miss those times, sad that this store is gone 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 my other two favorite spots in Kmart was also the electronics section, and the beauty product section where they had makeup, scented body creams and sprays,
The one in my town was always kind of sad but it got to be pretty depressing toward the end. Homeless people started living in cars in the parking lot about a month before it closed for good.
1:17 Unless you know somebody who wants two coral coloured pants 🤣
I haven't been to kmart since 2011 but the one in my area in Monroeville PA closed earlier this year
I wish someone would find a way to bring Kmart back. We had a kmart here where I live and I miss that store and it is a part of my growing up.
All these Kmart videos got me to look up the one here in Salem or. Just seen its closed too. I had no idea it was gone and don't know when it happened.
I worry once walmart puts everyone out of business they will then jack prices thru the roof then were screwed. Support your other stores if u want to keep them around.
VapeKing why do you think Walmart is to blame?
That will be Amazon
VapeKing Target is also doing pretty well. And even then, both stores are competing against Amazon.
Kmart and Sears are doing it to themselves. They went around buying everything in the 1990s when they should have invested in themselves and focused on what got them so far-making their customers happy. Why should people go somewhere with crappy customer service and high prices when I can go somewhere else, pay less, and get better service? Add to that, Eddie Lampert is having stores closed when their only issue is their lease being up, someone else buying said lease, and Mr Lampert being more than happy to take the money and run.
Seems odd to me that they removed all the department signage from the ceiling... I guess they finally want to give that kmart a clean image. I spotted the restrooms sign on the floor propped against the wall. I would have totally bought that if I were in there. Hung it above my bathroom door.
This makes me sick!!! Kmart will be missed here I'm sure. The Wooster location in Ohio is pretty much gone now also around my area.
TheSQUALLLINE They're dropping like flies.
I hope that location in Warren Ohio you did a video on can stay open. That thing is huge inside.
TheSQUALLLINE I hope it does too. Thankfully it's only an hour from me. We had a Super K in Pittsburgh but that closed in 2012-2013.
WallieB26 I'm sure it will. It looked like it as very well managed the was it was very clean looking inside. I can imagine it draws pretty good business considering it's the only one around. I need to take a trip up there considering I'm from the Buckeye state. I live to the southwest of Trumbull county about four counties away in Holmes county. It would be well worth the trip.
TheSQUALLLINE agreed!
Hi Wallie, this looks like the Target stores when they closed up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Target opened stores in Winnipeg in 2015 and then closed them all up in 2015 they said they didn't have a market in Winnipeg. I think they didn't give themselves a chance. It's a real shame especially when it puts so many people out of work and our politicians stand by and do absolutely nothing! Go figure-this is sad :(
There is an abandoned Long John Silvers/A&W in Robinson Twp on Stubenville Pike Road in between the 2 Sheetz that are on the same road! You may want to check it out if you're in the area.
bumblethebee20 I filmed it! I'm uploading that video tomorrow!
Why did they even bother opening that day?
It's sad to see a retailer go out of business. I live in Covington GA and the Kmart here still keeps holding on. It's well stocked and clean but it hasn't been updated since the 90s. As far as I know there isn't another one within at least 2 hours of Covington.
RIP Covington Kmart. I remember getting some sweet posters for 25¢ right before they closed. At least we can still go inside when it's a spirit halloween...
I swear that Kmart looks like my Kmart from the outside and inside
I live in Bridgeview, Illinois and our Kmart just closed back in February I believe
My local Kmart was a Big Kmart and had a Kmart express. I was never inside in the last few days, and it was kinda sad to see it closed. But the funny part is that there is a Walmart across the street that’s pretty much parallel to the Kmart, with more stores near it. How ironic I must say.
Even funnier is that in front of the Kmart Express there’s sheds and a sign in the same font as that giant “STORE CLOSING” sign saying “SHEDS NOW”
I always look were the shelving was for old nostalgic ads/old price tags.. Ive got a couple collected !!!!!
Was in a K-Mart on it's second day of closure in Santa Maria, CA. Photographed a closed K-Mart in Arroyo Grande, CA in February 2019. A final K-Mart in Paso Robles, CA is set to close Feb. 2020. End of an era.
The Kmarts in my area are done!!
We had three locations in my area and they are all gone. Four Wal-Marts and one Target store is all we have. The Sears store is closed too.
I just noticed you have videos of collectibles. I saw those pants when you walked in. You should've bought them for your collection
I remember going to Kmart as a kid with my mom and grandparents i loved the pretzels they had at the snack bar but honestly what happened with Kmart is really their own doing....All the stores looked the same least they did in my town and we had 2 of them both closed in if i remember in 2017 but both of them looked old and tired and a store didnt want to go to anymore.....Cause Walmart opened and we went there and for grocery shopping went to a grocery store as sad as it is Kmart did it to themselves
At our Kmart on the last day there were clothes jewelry and fixtures and a blocked off layaway
This time last year we had 8 Kmart stores here, as of a few months ago they are all gone.
I'd convert this space into a skating rink!
1:41 How fitting the space jam song
I heard about one in Danville, VA on Hwy 58 / Riverside Drive and in Lynchburg VA on Wards Road / Hwy 29 closing at the end of the Year. How about those Satellite dishes on the back? How much they want for them? :) LOL Good Video.
Sean Ingram the Danville Kmart is right along the river it has a huge mold problem.
There's still kmarts where I live
What in California are the most still open.
What was the lady talking about in 6:21? Anyways, really nice but sad video. I wish more people would have just shopped at KMART
Peach The lady was talking to someone else outside about her brother stopping by to pick up peg board that, I assume, they purchased but couldn't take home right away.
I should have pulled out the 36" Hunter original ceiling fans and the industrial ceiling fans in my local kmart that closed a little while back
😭😭😭😭😭😭I loved Kmart I really did and do. Thats how I was able to get things for the home.... because of their layaway.
We're losing ours in Franklin, PA in April. Sad.
This is sad. They should ask Eddie Lampert to see this, but yes, it’s unlikely.
I never once went into a Kmart and found what I was looking for.
That's exactly my experience with Walmart.
Dude I've been to the same one It's very sad how they closed it down and I think I saw u I was the car behind u driving through
Yeah it's sad that they are closing. They closed down the one in my home town Uniontown, Pa a few years back. Hell maybe you did a video on it. Well anyway I like your videos. Go Steelers!!
We will dearly miss Kmart
There were no products left to buy at that time!? Just the shelves and racks?
Hi man your awesome thats were u grew up at buying hotwheels my whole childhood
I found a receipt from 2001 stuck to the floor under the old shelving.
Why are all these Brand name Stores closing down ??? Sears,Bon-Ton,K-Mart,there's absolutely nothing left but Wal-Mart.what the heck is happening to our Retail Giants ?? Its like no one cares if a store closes !!
There is still a Kmart still running in my area.. Has a small amount of people though but it is still surviving
Ill be going down to the last Super K tomorrow.
Still have the 90s music in the background
How often do you see a Kmart get COMPLETELY cleaned out during a liquidation?
This is happening now in Australia with toys r us and babies r us 😩
Witnessed their last breath.
