I KNEW this track was an influence on Prince! I had no idea he covered it. I once tweeted layla hathaway to say that i believed this track was an unacknowledged influence on Prince. She said she absolutely agreed! Listen to strange relationship and the turn-around on this track. Love it!

The piece of music he is playing is called 'everything is everything' by the late, great Donny Hathaway.
My original point is, I have long stated that Prince was influenced by this song (as evidenced in prince's own song 'strange relationship').
Donny hathaway's daughter, Leyland, agreed with me when I asked her this question.

Again, my original point is that, hearing prince cover this Donny Hathaway track is confirmation to me of a long held belief that prince was inspired by this song - the 'turn around' of this song can be heard in Prince's song 'strange relationship'.
