I've been a Hab fan for about 55 years but for the last 15 years like many Hab fans I've had a hunger to see the Habs be successful and
return to the type of team they were during the glory days. However, i"ve spend hours upon hours reading every stinking article and comment there is and the team is still struggling and were not even close to winning a cup. Here I am ( we are ) putting such importance on this team but if for a moment you think about how small this planet is compared to the ginormous size of the universe and how short life is. I think I might take a break from all this Habs drama wait a few years and come back and see what Hughes and Gorton did to make the team a contender because when it comes down to it there's nothing I can do about it.

Gorton is hoping to get his mika zibanejad like trade for the Habs.. hopefully he can get a player as good! Did he ever fleece the Sens when he was with rangers
The thing i like about this potential trade for Kakko is the positive impact it could have on both to reunite Kakko with Ylönen who were both amazingly efficient when they won the World Junior Championship together. But with what happened for Lindholm, we'd have to also get more than that for Monahan, like a first round pick this very draft, if not a Gabe Perreault.
Nice to run into Craig near the marina in Cabo. Still not sure about Kakko!

Something that always stuck with me growing up as a young player 50 years ago going to tournaments was seeing opposing talent that looked way TOO good like we had no chance.
There is a whole different story when the game is on being SMART and tough outweighs skill all day EVERY day.
Those are the intangibles people don't see all people want to see is goals and assists.
There is yet one more intangible people don't see and that is that some players are what I call LEECHERS and some are those that elevate others around them.
Some do like to use the term LEADER a guy like Messier was a leader but often people misuse the term leader.
Zegras is NOT that guy Kakko is NOT that guy these are more guys like Nick and Cole who will LOSE to other teams first line players.MTL management and fans need to quit looking at just OUR team we need to understand there are OTHER teams and that is how we judge our team because to win a cup we have to beat THOSE teams.
Furthermore you can't be paying second line players 8 mil geesh and even as good skilled second line players you need to have playoff toughness you still need to win puck battles and be on the PLUS side of +/-.
For someone to say Fowler reminds them of a combination of Roy, Hasek, Brodeur and Price, that is some potential if that's the case.
To me when it comes to Mailloux I have heard comparisons with Dougie Hamilton and Shea Weber.
Does Craig have any stories that aren't from 20 years ago?
I don’t dislike Kakko, but if there really are 4-5 teams interested I feel like there will be prospects on the table that have a better chance of reaching their projected ceiling. Maybe not picks, but younger prospects than Kakko.

I would move Reinbacher in a deal to get Zegras. Heck I would move Reinbacher for Jiricek.

After the Lindholm trade it appears that a return from the Rangers for Monahan could end up being something like: Kaapo Kakko and a 1st round pick.
Or Lafreniere for Monahan one for one.

Habs need a good size goal scorer that can grind and forcheck , Caufield and Suzuki are 2nd line players. They can't compete against most 1st lines on other teams 5 on 5
Maybe MSL could do some magic with Kakko and bring the elite talent that's sleeping deep inside him

Button said that Montreal has a cupboard full of prospects, but he did not mention that most of them would just be supporting cast on an NHL team. Reinbacher or their 2024 1st rd pick are the only serious chips which HuGo can use in a trade for a guy like Zegras.....but Montreal will not do it. Indeed, Zegras is no genuine 1C, likely just a 2C, this is why he is expendable in Anahiem which already has Leo Carlsson and McTavish as their two futur 1C and 2C.

We can do way better than Kakko for Monahan. I'd take Kakko but not in that trade, unless it was part of a bigger package

Lol...Tony you said this last yr and the yr before..4-5 more years?????..your kidding..it's been 3yrs already..nobody in this city wants to wait another 5 yrs..NOW THATS A JOKE..with a couple of drades I believe they can be in top 8 teams and as we know big D and a gd goalie anything happens in playoffs..but I for one believe another 5yrs is wayy to long and even Mr Molson won't wait 8yrs
4-5yrs before we have a real shot at the Cup, not simply making playoffs. Lots of teams make playoffs, and although anything can happen (like Habs run 3yrs ago), the chances of are very low of making it all the way. You think we can win the Cup as soon as Hutson, and Rainbacher start their rookie season in Mtl? It will take all these young guys who are 18-22 another 3-5yrs before they enter their prime.
Now had we finished with a top 3 pick last summer, then yeah maybe we would be about 3yrs away from being a cup contender. But we blew that one good.

Just saying that if fan have choice of having, for example, Conord Bedard with no cup or another less impressing player but win a cup, they would choose the cup. This is because Tony keep saying he wants "stellar" players. Stellar players do not guaranty a cup. Look at Toronto...

There is no bigger fan of Zubov than me but bringing up other players is pointless because for every positive argument there is an equal negative argument.An example going on right now is Fowler I am sick of hearing abotu Fowler goaleis now a days are garbage every single one of them just drop to their knees and hope pucks hit them.

The last time goalies were actual difference makers was back in the Turco Brodeur era when goalies played the puck and acted like a third defenseman.Goalies now make me laugh shots go upstairs and they flop to their knees NO CLUE where the shot is going they are al just guessing and praying.
