I love how you have the one puppy to groom and not a whole kennel of dogs carrying on in the background, which can make a new puppy nervous. My first Standard Poodle is just a 10 week old baby, but I will be introducing her to the sounds of grooming and the feel of the clippers and nail trims after her first week home with us. I wish I had a groomer like you near by who I feel confident would treat my little one with such patience and kindness when she is old enough to go to a pro. I will attest that the Standard Poodles give the most heartfelt kisses and full body snuggles. My other four dogs do too, but the Standard Poodle has a gentleness about her that is sublime

I wonder if Tibby was not groomed sooner because of weather? I live in Ottawa, Canada. My cream miniature was born December 20th. I’ve waited till April to give her first real grooming because of the cold winter. I’ve regularly done her face and paws, but kept her body fluffy for warmth. She wears a coat in winter but her legs and belly needed the wool. When it gets hot outside, we go short (and swim in pool) 😃💖🐩

I’m in awe of the transformation from fluffy pup to regal , elegant beauty! I have a 6 year old white miniature and recently added a 16 week cream miniature puppy. I have been grooming my poodles for years using electric clippers. I love your results using scissors. I notice the scissors you use are quite long. I’m worried since I do not yet have the control & precision you have. Would you recommend I start by using shorter scissors (half as long as yours)? You have expert skills. I'm hoping to get a Moyen-sized Standard poodle - so small Standard male. I hope to get a cream. They are so gorgeous, and I love the almond eyes. They are so expressive. Beautiful job of grooming Tibby.

After I have my mini poodle a bath I use conditioner and everything and she literally gets mats after and I blow dry and everything

Do you have cases of first groom when you have to desensitize the pup first?
Yes. I have been doing this for 40 years. I usually refer out puppies that need a lot of desensitization to a facility that offers fear free training. 95 % of puppies I train in house, but some need a little more intense training program.
She doesn't want to deal with tough puppies or ear issues. Too lazy. She only wants the easy ones.

Clipping way to fast for my liking
I noticed you don't shave the back of her neck, all the poodles I have seen have the entire neck shaved
I only do that on certain styles.
I have been told this is the Dutch clip ??? My groomer does this style often. However I too prefer a clean neck all around
