@@danielleking262 its easy to tell an insurance scammer. They will try their best to make an accident happen, even in a stop light. And they do it by making sure that it looks like the will not cause any damage than their own.

Anyway, the car did the right thing, but the cop didn't know why he did that. If the cop have at least a gram of sense of justice, he would let him to explain, and to let him prove it with the dashcam (unless the cops are told to not do it, in that case, the law is flawed).

When there's no lights at an Intersection with a crosswalk there's usually a stop sign. If it was a stop sign though ,the 1st and 2nd car should have known to slow down so I believe it's a light like you said.
Crosswalk lights get ignored half the time, it's a danger to use them if people think cars are going to actually pay attention to them.
In smaller towns/neighborhoods, most crosswalks have no lights or signs for pedestrians. If people are trying to use the crosswalk for its intended purpose (crossing a street safely), drivers are intended to give them the right of way.

3:00 Here's a good example of camera car being on winter tyres. Car is doing 52 kph (about 30 mph) and manage to stop quickly and with full control.
Had the camera car been on summer tyres there's a good chance it would have skidded sideways and almost certainly not been able to stop before hitting the other car.
He WOULD have hit the other car. Even with four seasons tires, he wouldn't have been able to avoid the collision.

If you're going to show us something that scary 0:45 then you have to let us know how it turned out! That could have turned into a ten truck pile up in about two seconds flat. Driving conditions like that make you wonder why everyone doesn't slow the hell down.
With drivers like that, who needs a license. Who in their right mind tries to pass a large truck by blindly moving into oncoming traffic, when you can't see more than a dozen feet in front of you, and road conditions are about as dangerous as they get all year? I think you could write Dwivers Wicense in crayon on the back of a napkin and you're good to go by the looks of it.

I would say that that collision ended with at least two deaths being the drivers of both trucks. All because of one jackass.

I know your comment is 9 days old, but depending on local laws (and road layout, signage etc) every driver including the one rear-ending the minivan could be in the wrong here (based on the impact they were likely distracted, tailgating or speeding, you pick and that's still on them at least). Also I would like to point out there is clearly a bar lined section for crossing and a white line for traffic to stop at. Where I grew up our laws drastically changed from when crossing lights lite to if a person is simply standing there (became illegal to idle with no intent to cross), to if a car is stopped at a crossing on either side of the road you have to slow down; less where a safe island for pedestrians exist at which time only your side you have to slow down.
Simply put drivers ignorant of the laws in local areas they travel threw are usually the cause of the laws to change in favor of pedestrians hindering drivers even more, that said you can't blame the pedestrian here, it's still either the minivans fault for stopping or the car rear-ending them the pedestrian made no actual attempt (in the clip shown, yes I saw their foot move a bit but I doubt that caused the minivan to stop) to cross in front of the minivan. Oh fines dramatically increased too during those 3 changes as well and those changes also took place in under 5 years from start to finish...
@@egg-roll8968 Iâm not sure where youâre from, but thatâs a 2 lane road and looks pretty busy. I donât know if the law says, if a person stand in the road at a cross walk you need to jam on your breaks and come to a dead stop. The solid white line leads me to believe thereâs a light there, since itâs a 2 lane road and seems to be an intersection. Youâre supposed to cross when the light is red, not jump out in the road to stop traffic. What your suggesting works in a one lane road, where itâs easy to stop all traffic in both directs due to the pedestrian being highly visible, but on a two lane road, the far lane drivers view would be obstructed by the stopped cars in the near lane creating a very dangerous situation for the pedestrians and drivers. If thereâs no light there then the city needs to install one to allow pedestrians to cross safely. The jump out in traffic method on a multiple lane road is asking for trouble both in terms of safely crossing and a steady flow of traffic.

Also no one expects you to slam on your brakes, if you do that then you are stupid, if you are the pedestrian and think that then you are stupid, the laws usually state if/when safe to do so, equally if the person has been standing there long enough for a reasonable stopping distance that's when it becomes illegal to not stop for them. Sadly most days now people need flashy lights to stop mostly because they are too tunnel versioned as to what ahead on the road than what's needing their attention, or worst people who think they can use their phones while driving even if not illegal yet where they live they shouldn't as it removes their ability that much to react. I wouldn't be surprised if both drivers were on their phones in that clip...
100% on the light, they look stupid af but they are safer for everyone, I've seen these crosswalks on 4 lane roads as depicted (most if not all have been converted to lights or islands), I always refused to use them for the reason seen in this video, either no one stops or there's almost always an accident.

@@JKDJack Yep, I was thinking the same thing. Main brakes may have failed but the person never touched the emergency/parking brake. You can see both hands on the wheel. This is what driving education/training helps with. Panic takes over and they don't know what to do. In my drivers ed, we practiced emergency stops multiple times. I had a situation recently where my main brakes stopped responding suddenly due to extreme cold, and my heart started racing thinking I was going to crash, but that practice really helped and instinct took over and I grabbed the e-brake and was able to stop safely.
also that car seems to be a nissan leaf, which is an electric. so unless regenerative braking is somehow turned off, it should've slowed down at least if the foot wasn't on the pedal. makes me wonder if the brakes actually did fail or if it was on purpose...

I'm not sure if the brakes on a car like that can completely fail. Front and rear are independent systems. You can make them a lot less effective, but to just take both ends out... meh.
It was an old person driving, slow reflexes, slow thinking, probably panicked/stressed out.

Canât understand why so many folks canât hit their brakes after a minor accident. They let their vehicle roll right into other cars.

The fight or flight reflex has another option that is very common, it's freeze. I've experienced it before where something scary and dangerous has happened but I can't move, I'm rooted to the spot in terror.

I did too, I agree. Though both cars are at fault. Camera car should've slowed down regardless because the semi hadn't finished making the turn yet. White truck should've been more cautious coming out, or at the very least, waited until the semi was done blocking his view.

How do you think the driver clearly showed that he saw the car in front? It doesn't look that way to me.
7:16 That crash happened on 23rd January 2022 at A1 highway (Also called Tallina highway by people) near ÄdaĆŸi city in Latvia.
There were 2 serious injuries (passenger seat cop and tow truck driver) and 1 death (driver).
The biggest problem is that both cops were drunk, and the driver's tox screen indicated that at the time of the crash he had a 0.24% blood alcohol level.
From what I know, the investigation is still ongoing and they are also trying to find out if any colleges of these cops knew that they were under alcohol influence and could've prevented them from even getting into the car, which if there are would result in a big problem for them.

Wish there was some context with these videos. It would be nice to know a little background on the driver or the circumstances. It would also be nice to know what happened afterwards. Were the drivers OK ? Did they go the to hospital or jail ?

I literally live a couple streets from where the second video was taken and I can confirm people are stupid enough to ignore One Way signs all the time because most of them are tourists and think they own everything while they're visiting

11:32 In my hometown there is a corner where the exact same thing keeps on happening a lot. But those guys who do it there might actually not be complete idiots because that corner has a trafficlight going straight in both directions and additionally one for cars turning right just that the one for the cars turning right is only for letting pedestrians pass and that one isn't synchroniced with the ones for the traffic going straight. There is a sign saying you need to give way, but it still is VERY confusing for people who don't know that corner.

I have seen so many of these videos and it still amazes me that people (even in the slightest fender benders) dont even bother hitting the brakes and just let the vehicle go until it comes to rest on its own and never mind the collateral damage that it may cause. Having spent a number of years in Fire/EMS I have seen quite a bit. Have even talked to patients of MVA's and to hear a few of them actually say "I didn't know you needed to apply brakes in a vehicle accident"........... UGH WTF is always my look. Even now when I see these vids I shake my head. It just seems to me that the more advanced society gets, the dumber the operators become which in turn makes them all the more dangerous. [IMO of course]
I can't wait until we all have flying cars. It's going to be epic...
