Hi Tipper! Once when I was laid off before the holidays my dad showed up at my door w/ a food basket from the ladies at his church who knew I was out of a job. I tried to explain to him that we were ok and someone else should get it. His Words of Wisdom to me that day: Don’t rob someone else of THEIR blessing. I didn’t quite understand- I was the one being blessed. He said the ladies put that basket together just for me and it was their Blessing of Joy to do so. I’ve never forgotten that! Think about what comes to you and Don’t Rob Someone of Their Blessing!
My great grandfather would always very chivalrously declare every time he heard of a woman who had been abused by her husband, "it's not a man that hits a woman." A powerful statement when you reflect on it; he had very old school values, and firmly believed a husband and father was a man created to protect and defend. Without doing so, in his estimation, a man wasn't a man at all.
I keep this quote attached to the inside of my front door to remind me: We don’t get to choose what happens to us, just how we deal with it.
Words of wisdom told to me by a coworker. A teacher had told her grandson the following : "Inch by inch life's a cinch, yard by yard life is hard" so so true."
Our yard stick says: Granny says “Inch by inch, life’s a cinch.” 😊 It used to have a cute sleeve with a granny on it that it fit in, but it got lost somewhere.
So hot here in Mississippi, when I opened the front door I thought I was checking my cornbread in the oven 🤔🤔🥵

When I was in my teens I decided to quit the job I had and go to work at a place I thought would be better. When I told my dad about my decision, he looked at me and said, " Boy, you jumped from the frying pan right into the fire". It didn't take me long to see that he was right.
I saw Jean Stapleton play Eleanor Roosevelt in a one person play. She was amazing just talking on the telephone during the play. Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Do what you feel is right, you will be criticized anyway”.
Makes me think of my Mamaw and the changes she saw. From riding in a horse drawn wagon as a kid to go over the mountain to see kin to taking the train cross country in WWII to flying in the 50’s to see kin. I always marveled at her courage for change.
Our annual family reunion is this coming weekend. I'm 60 now, so I'm now the older generation. I miss my parents and my aunts and uncles very much! When I was younger, I never thought about being the older generation. I don't know how I feel about it... 😐
It is a place of honor the Lord has allowed you so feel proud and blessed. The older generation has much to give, share, and impart. I love grannie wisdom! God bless you with many more years. Enjoy your reunion.

I love Gene Watson-each song tells a story and that is a lost art. He’s so very unique and a beautiful voice.
I remember as a kid if dad didn't like our attitude he would say You better straighten up and fly right, that nose is turned up so far you will drown if it rains😅

Our family would say you are neither sugar nor salt nor nobody's darlin, you won't melt.
My late mother LOVED Gene Watson. He was her favorite. I miss the old country singers like Gene Watson, Vern Gosdin,Ricky Scaggs, Patty Loveless. The list is long. Have a great week, Tipper. i like Gene Watson,have since i was a teenager! And the songs you mentioned too! His voice is really a good voice, unique. When i was young i lived in Arkansas and Texas, and in the summertime my husband always had the radio on, and Gene Watson songs were playing,drifting out in the hot summer air, certainly stuck in my memory!! His voice and the songs were so poignant!!
I have loved Gene Watson as long as he has been recording. A few years ago he was going to have a concert at Lake Stryker in east Texas but some hurricane came threw and they canceled the concert. I was so disappointed…I just cannot tell you. I doubt very seriously that I will ever get to see Gene Watson perform in person….darn it.

I really love all of Gene Watsons songs but one of my favorites is When a man can't get a woman off his mind. On the words of wisdom I always think of my father in law and what he would always say. Whenever something would happen or someone did something he didn't understand he would always say well it just goes to show you never can tell. I think that Emmylou Harris sang a song about that. Thanks Tipper...the song Paper Rosie brought back a memory from my childhood when my mana would make crepe paper roses. In her later years of life she would fold ribbon and make roses. She didn't sell them but would give them to residents of the nursing home where she lived. She died in 2014. Her ribbon roses remain as a testimony in the hearts of many of her loving caring heart. Costa Rica doesn’t have but two seasons: rainy and dry. We are in our rainy season and it pretty much pours rain every day. I pray some of it will visit you and provide what you need.
If you ever decide to fly, I open my home and family to yours. We drove from Oklahoma here in 1972. It took us 16 days, so flying might be a better option. I’d take you sightseeing our country side, the mountains, volcanoes, beaches, jungle… it’s a beautiful country full of kind people.
Pray the appointment with granny goes well.

We're having a drought to in Greeneville Tennessee I pray a lot for all of our Farmers I have a lot of ranchers and farmers in my church including my pastor I pray for you to get some rain to for all those being affected by the drought

My grandmother was in her 80s when she took her first and only flight from South Texas to Dallas Love Field. She didn't bat an eye. None of her three children ever flew in an airplane.
Hi Tipper! 😁 My apologies I keep missing the Monday huddle. 😢 Two things. First - Wisdom from my Michigan Dad. He was a little crude but definitely wise. He would always say “Quit pickin’ the flys**t outta the pepper!” Sorry for that visual, Lol. I took it to mean “Don’t be so fixated on the small details beyond our control that we make ourselves crazy.” Second - My tip: “The Lost Ancient Art of Electroculture” from the 1800s is saving gardens! I just found the information and how-to guide on CZcams and it sounds fascinating! Basically just get some long sticks and a spool of copper wire to make copper antennae and place around the garden. It will change the atmospheric energy of the soil to a copper base. This means no need for fertilizer or pesticides…gardens will stay better-irrigated, pests don’t like copper and will stay away, and crops will grow bigger and more bountiful. Who knew copper outperforms iron in soil. Anyway I just had to share the good news! All my best to you and yours! Have a great week! 💕🇺🇸

I was just thinking we did that in an old place I lived at. One hose in the creek with a good sized faucet screen for debris, then at the end of the hose to water with a split spout attach two separate hoses to water in two places at one. Can wait to see the corn. 🌽 Brooks, Oregon.❤

Howdy Tipper, I saw on CZcams, another channel that had a small apple tree orchard and the family planted tons daffodils in the ground around the trees, throughout the entire orchard. They didn't lose any apples to the deer that usually destroy their trees and fruit. The deer stay away because the daffodils are poisonous to them. Maybe an idea for next season. Some daffodils are allelopathic, so some research on it first would be advisable. Happy gardening. I hope you get a bounty of corn.

Hi Tipper! Thank you for sharing a little peek into your beautiful life and the wonderful words of wisdom. I'm writing down the ones I haven't heard and trying to memorize them.
I wanted to share a saying my Daddy (God rest his soul) used to say to when we would complain about something as children sometimes do.
He'd say, " I used to complain about having no shoes until I met the man who had no feet." It was a sober reminder to remember there's always someone worse off than we were and not to fall into the trap of feeling sorry for ourselves. That sure has stuck with me and served me well in this life.
Matt is so talented. I am sure he could install an irrigation system to solve your water issue. I had problems with my landscape until I had an irrigation system installed. It has saved me lost plants and lots of work trying to water by myself.
We have a fence around our garden which is solar. We have deer around and if we didn’t have this the deer would have a feast. Also we put foil pans at the corners. So the deer do not both the garden. Love seeing the wildlife and babies! Our property in rural VA

I'm with you on flying. If I could fly the plane, now that is a different story..lol Gene is such a nice guy too. When I was booking entertainment, we use to book Gene for a lot of fairs and festivals. Love his music too. For someone who talks about himself a lot..."He could talk the legs off a chair". Lol Another one my uncle said about my dad.."He's got a ten gallon mouth" Refers to a big 10 gallon cowboy hat. We I hope yall get rain and it's a gully washer toad strangler😂 One of these days I will catch a live!

I have been in a plane several times. I loved my three trips to Europe. Wonderful things in the world to see. I grew up in a holler in eastern Kentucky.

Watching your live I heard the saying about getting all you can and it reminded me of how I heard that. Get all you can, can all you get and sit on the can. This person was relating it to working and saving money.

Tipper, I love Gene Watson too & the Malpass Brothers also. It’s hard to find good music these days. It’s funny to me how many things we gave in common. I live in Rush Springs Ok( Watermelon Capital of the world). We have been so hot & dry here too. Some people’s watermelons aren’t doing good this year. We have a Watermelon Festival every year in August. The things that aren’t burned up, the grasshoppers have eaten up. They are terrible this year! I always enjoy visiting your channel. I’ve told you before that your eyes remind me of my Mom. I called my girls Sister & still call anyone younger than me Sis. It’s just a habit. God Bless you & your family
