Can't believe that its 2023 and they still use a gumball light on top.

less than most departments who are spending far more than they need. And how do I know what they need? The emergency vehicle standards can be met with just a beacon as MSP does

Maybe those gumball cherries looked ok in the 60s n 70s back in the Adam 12 days but this is 2023 light bars look better

Tradition. There are studies that extreme lighting on police vehicles attracts drunks.
Because lightbars create too much wind resistance for vehicles that routinely drive at highway speeds, significantly reducing fuel economy. They also get seriously covered up with bug guts during the summer.

My Iphone 7 has a better beacon light. Something is not adding up with that little beacon light on top of a massive car.... Get a smart car, it will look cuter there.

I believe there are a lot more rooms for improvements. That little tiny becon light on top could do a lot better with a more tradional turrent light on top. The side patches can be improved by adding some slongan and a bit more color from back to front. I can easly confuse this suv with a construction car......
Most departments we believe have far too many lights, costing far too much and not providing a return on investment. We just looked at a florida department where there is a light for every linear foot of the vehicle. The beacon meets the standards at likely a reasonable price and simple installation.
Besides all the other benefits that a well identifiable light can provide, safety is one of them and command presence is another. There is no price when it comes to safety and a tiny light on top of a huge vehicle does not project confidence. Seems like someone is getting lazy or is pocketing the money....@@publicsafetyinvestigations999
Many state police, highway patrol vehicles have moved away from lightbars, due to the significant wind resistance and poor fuel economy. The new led beacon here is supplemented with additional emergency lighting on the mirrors, grill and rear deck. 0:37

I'd rather have an inner edge bar on the inside of the windshield and do a slick instead of the beacon. Those windshield mounted lights are much better, not only brighter but better for wind resistance as everyone seems very concerned about.
Even more idiotic than a single beacon on top is that ridiculous and useless STOP sign on the hood!

Who ever came up with this ideas should be instantly fired. These are the ugliest police vehicles I have ever seen, and with 40 + years in the field, I have seen my share of police rigs. What the hell is that England shark fin thing on the hood and why would you drill holes in these SUV's to mount this shit? Unbelievable!!
