This is part 5 of a video series showing the step by step building demonstration of the Sonex Aircraft's Tail kit (vertical and horizontal stabilizers, rudder and elevator). I don'y know if you've heard of this tip. I learned it from a model airplane magazine article years ago. When using a long aircraft drill bit, you can slide a piece of brass tubing over the bit near the tip and use it to guide the drill bit with more accuracy. Though you may want to put a drop of oil on it if you need to make a lot of holes. This tip has saved me lots of grief when I didn't get the holes right on the firewall in my models. First let me say thank you for this series. It has been very educational and your effort is greatly appreciated.
At 25.32 you place one cleco on each end of the elevator then disassemble . Would it not be beneficial to drill and place one cleco on the inboard end of each hinge prior to disassembly while it is in alignment thereby ensuring a strait hinge. Or inserting a hinge pin through the hinge to be attached to the horizontal stabilizer spanning both pieces of hinge. I'm not by any means saying your technique is not sound, I"m just asking as I am interested in building.

Question: does the DVD of this video set have more content or is it the same content? 2D QUESTION: IS THERE A VIDEO OR DVD FOR THE SONEX WING KIT? FUSELAGE KIT?

The HomebuiltHELP DVD set for the Sonex tail is the same as the series here on CZcams. This would NOT be true for other DVD titles that have only partial clips on CZcams. Visit the HomebuiltHELP website for all titles available - for example: the ONEX series for that aircraft. No other Sonex titles at this time.
