That just shows how good you are at this.
These types of models are for museums and collectors. In the movies -apart GCI- they generally use models made of plastic, wood or cardboard.

Thank you, Carsten. This big model (two meters of wingspan) built entirely in aluminum, was sold to a collector from Malaysia. It is the best representation of the Junkers G23/24 that exists today all over the world. However no German museum showed interest in it, not even Lufthansa or the Junkers Museum. I was about to build the huge four-engine G38, but in view of the lack of interest from the German museums, I decided not to carry out the project on my own (I have seen scale models of the Junkers G24 and G38 in different German museums and they are all very basic and crude -wood and plastic construction with very few details). Thank you, sir, that's quite kind of you. This video originally had a beautiful music by Hans Albers from the late 20s (fully synchronized). But CZcams forced me to remove the back music by "copyright issue", according to them, and they gave me a list of music to choose instead. I had to choose this one because the others tracks had nothing to do with this plane and the 1920s years. Then youtube added advertising over the video. After this experience and other similar ones, I decided that my new videos should be "silent".

Thank you! Because I never needed them! I am focused in showing that it is possible to make good, realistic models, only by hand. For example, I don´t like the spiner done with lathe (common in metal airplane models and the copies in limited edition); they are so perfect that look like stainless steel casseroles! I prefer to use almost the same method (stamped) of real WWII aircraft (yep, I do it by hand). I either needed to use a machine (I imagine very expensive) to make corrugated sheet.

Lamento que la música de este video (Hans Albers) fue censurada (ellos dice que por razones de copyright, pero lo dudo porque la música es de 1930 y al cantante lo conoce muy poca gente!). Me obligaron a cambiarla por algo que no tiene nada que ver. Luego de hacer eso youtube utiliza este video para hacer su propia publicidad. For many years I was buying all kind of technical books and magazines on aviation edited in Germany between 1924 and 1931. I have 8 complete volumes of the ZFM magazine (around 500 pages each), and many copies of the Junkers Nachrichten and FlufSport (in my website I explain the errors in kits, drawings and current 3D illustrations about this plane). I would like to build the G-38 and the DoX with lights and movable propellers but any German museum seems interested (they want all for free).
Words can`t do justice to your artistry... Simply amazing.. I know it is an old video but it would be great to see in HD... Cheers Rojas :-))

@@leoferreyra8606 Gracias por tus palabras, Freddy. Posiblemente las revistas de tu padre serían Junkers Nachrichten. Yo tengo varias de los 20s y 30s. Mi padre también era fanático de los Junkers, y eso lo heredé. Preferí construir el G24 porque fue el primer trimotor de pasajeros totalmente metálico y porque no ha sobrevivido ninguno y hay muy poca información (del popular Ju52 hay muchos sobrevivientes, mucha información y muchos kits. Un modelo mío no hubiera aportado mucho). Me gustaría construir el inmenso "Jumbo de los 30s", el Junkers G38 (hoy es un exponente de la moda Dieselpunk; incluso los japoneses lo han usado en algún animé). Me lo imagino con los cuatro motores funcionando y todo el interior iluminado, colgado dentro de una vitrina oscura. Pero lamentablemente los museos alemanes no tiene dinero para pagarme un modelo de ese tamaño y complejidad (quieren todo donado; no puedo donar porque vivo de esto). Los pocos modelos del G38 que hay en museos alemanes son muy crudos; yo podría construir uno muy superior. No puedo creer que el museo Junkers en Dessau gaste tanto dinero en restaurar viejos aviones soviéticos y no tengan dinero para la construcción de un buen modelo de ese carismático cuatrimotor. Las nuevas generaciones de curadores y directivos de museos aeronáuticos están muy poco interesadas en estos aviones antiguos lamentablemente (basta recordar cuando el histórico Ju52 en Morón fue dejado a la intemperie y un tornado lo averió severamente, mientras que el F-27 recién incorporado al museo estaba bajo techo. Una estupidez de las museóloga y el director de turno). Estoy analizando las variables para editar cursos sobre mis técnicas. Saludos cordiales.

@@leoferreyra8606 Este modelo pertenece al lote de 11 que construí para Fine Art Models entre 1995 y 2007. Lamentablemente el dueño, antes de morir, vendió toda la colección (y otros cinco modelos míos que compró a la viuda de mi primer cliente en USA) a un coleccionista de Malasia. Lo lógico hubiera sido que los donara al Air&Space Museum o que hubiera vendido todo dentro del país; una lástima porque de esa manera no hay un solo modelo mío en museos yankees.
En estos momentos estoy construyendo un enorme B-24 en escala 1:20 para el 467th Bombardment Association. El precio del modelo es caro porque significa el sueldo de un modelista profesional aquí en USA durante un año. Ellos hicieron una colecta a través de su página en facebook para financiar el proyecto. Lógicamente cualquier museo podría hacer lo mismo, pero prefieren gastar su dinero en otra cosas (además hoy en día no se valora bien el trabajo de arqueología aeronáutica, que lleva más tiempo que construir el modelo). Las posibilidades podrían ser cuatro museos; Lufthansa, Berlin, Munich y el de Hugo Junkers en Dessau. Pero como te dije, no mostraron interés o posiblemente desconocen mi trabajo porque no saben investigar, y mis años productivos ya se van debido a mi edad. Saludos cordiales

rojasbazan If you go to the Evergreen Museum near Portland, Oregon, there is a Ford Tri-Motor that's pretty inspiring. That is an emotional museum for some reason. In the movie, "Charlie Chan in Paris", there's a Ford Tri-Motor at the beginning. It sounds kind of clattery! Excellent tune by the way!
The level of detail shown makes it look like they were built using the engineering drawings from the full size aircraft. (The ribs, spars, gussets, formers, etc...) Where do you find the information to go into that level of detail? Builders and restorers of full size aircraft would love to have that kind of information.

Does the outer "skin" come off the wings? Because if it doesn't you are incredibly dedicated to detail with building the wing frames. You could easily build a simple frame and cover it never to be seen again but you haven't

Yo are right; model building is not an easy job for sure. A good model does not include delivery date; it is difficult decide when the job is ready to delivered because there is always something to correct. No one can pay what i actually takes to build a scale model of a historical artifact where every part -by tiny as it is- can be a real mistake. The work of serching the correct information can take several months.

A mí me perjudicó mucho eso, porque es una colección que tendría que estar aquí en el Air&Space Museum o en US Air Force Museum y la gente conocería mejor mi trabajo.
@@rojasbazan Este modelo es mi favorito, hace 10 años cuando comenzaron a aparecer el modelado 3d con 3d studio max, una revista traía este modelo como un tutorial, desde ese momento lo quise modelar pero en 3d. Pero tu trabajo es formidable.
@@luistraverso2269 Este modelo estuvo siempre mal representado, tanto en los dos kits (que son de un mismo molde) como en dibujos, planos, 3D software e incluso en modelos en escala en museos alemanes. Eso se debe a que no hay casi información, pese a la gran importancia de esta máquina y a que la mayoría de la gente que lucra a través de la representación de modelos históricos (a través de cualquier medio) no hace investigación profesional (fíjate la réplica del Junkers F13 que está volando en Alemania; tanto trabajo y al final le pusieron un motor radial y un tren de aterrizaje horrible. Parece una cruza entre F-13 y W 34, una lástima). Los errores comunes han estado representados por lo menos hasta 2009, cuando yo subí este video (no sé si después los han corregido). Son 1): todos hicieron el piso recto: En el avión original el ala atravesaba todo el fuselaje y el piso era exactamente el contorno del ala. Por eso el techo del aparato tenía esa "joroba", pues permitía que la gente que caminaba no se golpeara la cabeza con el techo. 2) Las distancias entre las ventanillas no eran similares. Eso se debía justamente a que la curvatura del ala no permitía que las distancias entre costillas fueran similares. 3): Fijate cómo representé el perfil alar de los estabilizadores, con el intrados (abajo) muy curvo y el extrados (arriba) un poco plano (5:14), algo inusual, pero así diseñó el profe Junkers a estos aviones. Bueno, me excedí, pero me apasiona hablar sobre este avión que no conoce nadie, jaja.

I started working on this professionally when I was 30 years old because I found out that aircraft models in the world's museums were built of wood or plastic only. But before that I was a draftsman and musician in Argentina, modeling in metal was only a hobby. As a child I loved to build my own models on cardboard, basically airplanes and ships.
What are the basic tools that you use? Any power tools?

STOP IT! Nice seats, gotta say. The truss work makes my bridge ache between my eyes. Where did the corrugated sheet metal come from that is "to scale?" You can braze & solder, I get it, but, come on, The cockpit is total insanity. I am a turd in life modeling compared to this. I never see realism in any thing beyond this metal working stuff. The super detail craze would make my young self crap my pants back in the 60's
Daniel, at the beginning of the video I show how I am forming the corrugated aluminum by hand, using the hollow of a semi-open table and marking each groove according to the measurements in millimeters. To build this model I bought several original German aeronautical engineering books from the 1920. It was a very extensive work of aeronautical archaeology, including the Tempelhof airport during the era. As this video was recorded on VHS, in the future I'll edit a new one showing the best photographs I have about this model.

@@normg2242 Me too. I was about to build an F13, but since there are a couple of survivors in museums, I preferred to build the G24. After the construction of the G24 I had the hope of being able to build a huge G38 in 1:15 scale, but I couldn't get any museum in Germany to fund the project.
