- I played 10 Silent Movie songs that you've heard but do not know the name. In fact, no one knows their names. Learn on this video! I played in a 1915 piano, when Scott Joplin was still working!
- Zábava
Scott Joplin is now officially a genre
According to Spotify, Ellen is now a genre.
It's officially called ragtime.
@@nathalie_desrosiers Thank you for correcting them.
Christopher Peery Yeah, it’s called ragtime.
IT’S CALLED RAGTIME
This piano has exactly the right sound for this
Dr Scythe This piano has exactly the right everything for this.
DoctorHyruleCat not really for rap tho
not if you use your imagination!
I wonder what Metal songs would sound like on this piano.
It's because it's a piano with nails instead of hammers (Tack piano) hitting the strings and slightly out of tune. That is the sound associated with saloons and silent films.
Scott Joplin changed American Music forever, brilliant composer.
The fact too that he was blind and self taught is amazing.
@@ilovemydog6847 what
@@ilovemydog6847 he was not blind
Nicky OldfieldDesciple he wasn’t blind, or even self taught,
@@ilovemydog6847 pretty sure he wasnt blind and have a piano teacher
The fact that, not only does your piano have candle-holders, but you actually use them, is just the best thing
So you have candle holders on your piano but never use them?
LOL
planetX15 When electricity goes off I use an emergecy lamp lol
I heard from my friend Fred that candle holders are a great obstacle when one wishes to move a piano. He also tried to knock down the ceiling and ended up with a concussion so he might not be the most reliable source though.
E o tipo do espelho em cima do piano
It seems you lighted your candles from left to right.
*lit
Sorry, can't resist.
Hector Bonilla oof yeah
Lowezar hehe
Lowezar lighted isn't wrong.
u got good eyes
drinking game: take a shot after every song by scott joplin
I ran out of alcohol halfway through the video
generic username wasted for months after that
I'd die alcohol poisoning.
I think we’d all be drunk
I fell off the bench - very happy !!

Mikhaél Braga Meinke thanks for your list of content
You are welcome
Mikhaél Braga Meinke Ragtime is leet
Why leet? Leet is language for the english, the 1337.
Very knowledgeable person
I was about to say, "wait this is a troll, silent movies dont have sound." appears that im an idiot
Ron uhh yeah Ron we can see by your profile pic...
Me
😂
Glad you found out that yourself lol
Lol me too XD
Scott Joplin, an underrated genius! He does not get enough credit for the things he accomplished. Pure genius and just fun music.
Thanks to this wonderful video, only now have I come to the realization that Scott Joplin is my favorite composer of all time.
Same
The King of Ragtime. Often imitated, occasionally equaled, never bested. There are very few composers at his level, across all of music.
Tashkiira the only one who even comes slightly close is James Scott
Scott Joplin : the Hans Zimmer of 1910 !
I'd say he's the Liszt of 1910 but hey, Hans Zimmer still matches!
Kacper Maciejewski Oh come now, we shan't compare Scott Joplin to the Franz
Not a bad comparison, and that would make John Philip Sousa the John Williams of the day...
Who doesn't watch these and say to themselves: "I would give anything to be able to do this?"
Conclusion: If someone asks, just say, "Oh, that's Scott Joplin."
; "A Dog's Life" theme was composed by Sir Charles Spenser Chaplin.
Where can i find the sheet?
Queridos! Me digam qual dessas músicas voces não conheciam.
Dear Ones! Tell me which of these songs you did not know.
I'am from Poland but I love your videos ❤ You are the best piano youtuber 💪Gretings from Poland
Po piłkarsku TV thanks! Chopin is my favorite
xd siemano
I think Valentina Lisitsa might disagree with you.
Cześć ❤️
I know most of these tunes, because I grew up with a 1914 player-piano, and plenty of antique piano-rolls.
Other "silent movie" tunes you often hear: "Hearts and Flowers" (for tear-jerkers), "That's a Plenty" (also used by Jackie Gleason), "Bag of Rags" (used in the Main Street Movie Theatre, at Disneyland and Disney World), "The Slimy Viper" (for villains), and "Snake Charmer".
Yep, Jopin is the King of Rag! I can just picture you in a saloon in New Orleans circa 1908. I just love the classic feel to that piano. The lit candles make the ambience perfect!
AWESOME LORD VINHETEIROO!!! CHEERS FROM CANADA!!!
Thanks! Cheers from Brazil!
and cheers from switzerland!! let's try to name everycountry ;)
Cheers from France :)
Cheers from America
Cheers from Holland!
Theme to ‘A Dog’s Life’ was written by Charlie Chaplin & co., he often wrote & recorded the songs for his films.
I've just found this video and indeed many of these are melodies I've been searching for long ago. Thank you so much for showing them and playing them, Maestro! All the best from Hungary!
Did Joplin only write music for the silent screen? Hahahaha. Thank you for sharing a part of your day with us! Always enjoyable!
This is, by far, the best video in this series. Joplin and Chaplin would be proud of you! Keep up the good work!!
Q: What do Canadian pianists use to clean things?
A: A maple leaf rag! =D
As a Canadian I can agree
lol
That was good ngl
I snickered! not a full giggle, but a happy expulsion, thank you!
The sad thing is that they do. These people have zero respect for their own flag. Then again, why would they, after switching from that gorgeous red ensign to a fucking leaf.
Can confirm
I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to these pieces. You have a great mind for music. Thank you SO MUCH!
Scott Joplin is my favorite composer!! You put so much of him in here! Thank you!
Always so entertained by your videos, and I don't watch any other piano/music related videos on the internet. Always such an interesting topic. Thank you!!
Amy H I see you are a Rick and Morty fan aswell! I make Piano tutorials for Rick and Morty themes and anything ppl ask me, really (hence my name xP). Maybe you could get to know another piano channel?
Enjoyed this very much. I think I counted 7 Scott Joplin songs, 4 of which I once could play pretty well, but only 2 I could play without the sheet music in front of me. Brings back memories for me.
I didn’t knew any of the rags except “The Entertainer”, but after your video I researched more about ragtime and Scott Joplin and started to love the ragtime music. Thank you, Lord Vinheteiro! Greetings from Bulgaria!
I love watching silent films. I recognize all of the music itself but I didn’t know a lot of the names the songs. Thank you! This is awesome!
OLD But GOLD! 🎶
I just started learning Scott Joplin's "Harmony Club Waltz" today. Another great one! I'd love to hear your version of "The Great Crush Collision March."
I can play a couple of these, but you're very masterful! You play so flawlessly! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Scott Joplin had a very distinctive style. You can always tell one of his pieces, even if you've never heard it before.
LOVE it! Thanks!
You must be a huge fan of Scott Joplin. Actually, old or young, almost everybody knows about Joplin and the names of his great works in the USA and many other Western cultures.
You have duch a talent! I wish you would just make a video of these pieces so I can watch and listen to you play. You have such a wonderful technique!
I love that piano.
Also, I knew half of these but then we had a Scott Joplin record set and it was one of the things I tried to learn by ear on our piano. (also a half dozen other ragtime/old piano records).
Our piano sounded a lot like that one, was an old air-driven stand up player from the 1890s that was literally being scrapped when my dad took it home, pulled out most of the player parts, and resurfaced, then got a guy he worked with that knew someone who restored piano to redo the innards a bit.
My Grand Mother played music for Vaudeville and the piano for the Silent Movies. When she visited from New York in the late '50's = early '60's, we would turn on the TV and watch the old movies of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Keystone Cops, Laurel and Hardy and many more. We turned down the volume and my Grand Mother played the piano based on the action of the show. She taught me all of these along with ad lib classical pieces to fit the action. To this day, I carry on the craft, as I would call it, and entertain kids doing the same as my Grand Mother did,
O melhor pianista do Brasil
YES THANK YOU, The Entertainer is exactly what I was looking for.
OH! It is the wonderful $600.00 piano from 1915! I am SO HAPPY. This piano is a gem and a treasure, like fine wine.
My great-grandma used to play piano in theatres in the silent movie days. She prob new all these by heart. At 93 she could still play the piano.
I think 'A Dog's Life Theme' was by J.S. Bark
Jott Scoplin Bark
Mr. Barking at nothing
Dood thats funny i
I think Charlie Chaplin
Chaplin made her own music in every movie so
Scott joplin everiwhere
Scott Joplin é um dos meus compositores favoritos.
@@Lord_Vinheteiro agora é o meu também. Obrigado 👊
Wowww!! That's video is really amazing!!!! I was looking for some silent movie songs and I have found them. Thak you so much!!!
Absolutely magnificent. The playing, the beautiful tone of the piano. When I win the lottery, I will pay you $100,000 per year to sit in my house and provide the soundtrack to my life 24/7.
Lord Vinheteiro has that Brazilian death stare. Watch again, the dude doesn't blink!
Like Wilfred the cat 😂
Thank you for sharing you talent! You are truly a great piano player I wish I could do the same thing but its a little hard to transfer from xylophone to piano
Thank you for entertaining me I've liked all your videos you are a legend.
They played The Entertainer on a segment on tonight’s news, and I instantly recognised it but had no idea what it was … cue you and your fantastic piano skills in this video, and I now know what it is! Thank You!!
Only 10's kids will get this!
No I'm 13
Nicholas Spencer he meant kids who were born in the 1910s you know back when your great-grandfather was born that was just an example
i still remember the day women got the right to vote!
*chuckle* XD
Nicholas Spencer r/wooosh

Thank you!!! My colleagues and i have been humming the Entertainer for a whole day without figuring out the name!!
Scott Joplin lenda!!
The pineapple rag sounded like the music played in the Cooking Mama DS games 😂
Zhang Ci Eng lol yes, a part of the Entertainer too
0:44 You are a life saviour. I got beginning from my head on guitar, but didn't know the name. Thanks man. Much appreciated.
Thank you for your great videos 😍😍
A música A Dog's Life foi sempre creditada a Charlie Chaplin.
Lots of thx sir
Scott Joplin is simply timeless!
Interesting how you can spot a Scott Joplin song yet they don't sound like copies of each other. I hadn't realized he was such a prolific composer or that his music was used in silent movies so much.
😊I❤ how you play the piano I LOVE IT
Hearing Scott Joplin's music always reminds me wild west movies.
I like your videos and always watch! Very best!!!
Shout-out to Scott Joplin for making this beautiful pieces!!
How did this guy find out about my secret silent movie watching hobby!
his eyes see everything
Como eu não conhecia esse canal antes? Conheci a poucos dias e gostei muito :)
Aqui é pianista raiz! Nada de pianista nutella!
Abraços
Lord
The Dog's Life Theme was written by Charlie Chaplin with the assistance of two music arrangers named Eric James and Eric Spear. In 1959, Charlie Chaplin released The Chaplin Revue where he added music to three if his films. A Dog's Life was one of them. The song you played appears in this version of the film in The Green Lantern saloon(?) scene after the scene where Charlie sneaks sandwiches from the street vendor's cart. He actually did a lot of that in his later years to keep busy. He added music he wrote with the help of arrangers to many of his films. In the 40's he also re-released a re-cut version of The Gold Rush with his music added and he also narrated the film instead of having the dialogue cards.
Thank you, I miss this overview and finally I got it, thank to you :D
Scott Joplin is a janitor
ALLL HIS SONGS ARE RAGS
Not all of them
😂original and undderated comment!
EDP445's Bald Ass Head he also did marches, call walks, slow drags, waltzes, and 2 operas.
I believe that Charlie Chaplin composed the theme to A DOG'S LIFE himself. (He scored many of his own movies.)
Fantastic! Real contribution to class music acknowlwdgment.
Thats absolutely lovely, what a performance!
And a really good idea by that end, very entertaining. I got the first three right but then I was completely lost. I had no idea so many of these familiar tunes were Scott Joplin rags.
No top 10 list is complete and you have to make a selection, and by no doubt this is a very good one. Nevertheless, I just want to tip all film music aficionados off on another tune so frequently used in silent movies (and soundies too) I thought it was the signature tune of a film production company, a bit like the fanfare intro to 20th Century Fox even though it were played not only during the opening or closing credits but in the actual film.
It's Liebesträume (probably Love Dream or Dream Of Love in English) by Franz Liszt, it might just be one of te most used tunes in film history. Check it out on IMDb and look at all the entries you get. It's a lot!
I really love your work, so cheers mate and keep going!

PS
Nice suit!
0:25 - A música Tico-tico no Fubá, de Zequinha de Abreu (natural de minha cidade, Santa Rita do Passa Quatro - SP), está completando 100 anos em 2017. Merecia uma homenagem aqui no canal, não Lord?
