      Yeah he is making a claim based on a similarity of two pictures, where as the jump from 45 degrees to 90 degrees in the rotation of the lines and the theme of the smaller symbols jumping 1 spot to two spots is present in all the images. I think he got that one wrong.

    32 is stupid. yes if you go diagonally you see that pattern, but if you go from left to right, you can see it as the shapes rotating leftward each motion, which would then imply that answer a is instead correct.

  • @sunnaum
    @sunnaum Před 3 měsíci +1

    #32 is letter A. You can't assume middle left circle rotated clockwise, it could've been a counterclockwise rotation. If you go on each row, they rotate counterclockwise every time, answer A is correct here.
    The only evidence for clockwise rotation is the squares, you can't verify this law by either circle or triangle.

    I don't like design of puzzle 23, it seems ambiguous. You can look between first two pictures in two ways: 1st is that just inner picture element is removed, 2nd way is that just black picture element is removed. Applying the first reasoning you get answer D), applying the second you get answer A).

    Idk about question 7 or Q11. I don’t think multiple answers with different interpretations should be possible for a accurate iq test.
    3 seems accurate to me too. Furthermore it is the values of cos that will result in 1,0,-1,0 and then 1. You didn’t choose 1 when you did it yourself did you? There are 4 different ways I’ve seen people answer question 7 and every single one of them seems accurate and logical to me. I’d disregard that question.
    Another approach I saw was that digits in odd number positions, I.e digit 1,3,5 will always be 0 and multiplied by -1. As 0(-1) is just 0, 0 will always occur and 1 will alternate between 1 and -1 each time.

  • @josuehero1
    @josuehero1 Před 3 lety +10

    There are a few of these where you can apply different logic to arrive at multiple different answers, and one method of logic isn't necessarily superior to the other (7, 11, 17, and 32 all being examples). I'd say if you were able to apply sound logic to arrive at an answer you basically got it right even if it says you're wrong. That being said maybe there is superior logic for all the "correct answers" but we're just not seeing it.

    • @PuzzlesAndSolutions
      @PuzzlesAndSolutions  Před 3 lety

      In general, I would say the simplest logic (simplest model) is the best logic. More complex model tries to fill the illogical gaps and thereby makes it more complex.
      Simpler logic = lower probability of being correct by random chance = highest probability of being intended logic.

    I personally did #8 differently, but thought about right solution too.
    When you count numbers, next to 3 there are numbers 2 and 4. If we multiply them 2×4=8. Then 7×9=63. 62×64=3968.
    So, the answer is 2, because 1×3=3 .

    For no. 11, couldn't it also be said that there are prime numbers coming out of the centre though as well, so therefore it could also be C? I see how the answer is 8 and it makes sense, it just doesn't seem like it is the only answer as more than one pattern seems to be present. Thoughts?

    • @PuzzlesAndSolutions
      @PuzzlesAndSolutions  Před 3 lety

      I agree, but puzzle number 3 already features the fibonacci sequence so if I had to gamble between it being prime numbers or it being the fibonacci sequence then I would gamble on the fibonacci sequence.
      I think there are other puzzles in this test which are also ambiguous, so it's just bad puzzle design in my opinion. They could fix this specific puzzle by making the sequence longer.

    • @soumil8988
      @soumil8988 Před 3 lety

      And one more thing, you could count the no. of line segments in each picture , so the series would be 1, 3, 5, -7-. So the answer should have 7 line segments.
      The problem is the argument though is that first we consider first pic to be one line segment instead of two cause of centre and in following pics we count on the basis of centre

    In question 31 instead of focusing on the shapes in the corner why not the lines going through the middle figure? I don´t see how answer a) is not a valid answer

    • @PuzzlesAndSolutions
      @PuzzlesAndSolutions  Před 4 lety +2

      Okay, I looked at the puzzle while focusing ONLY on the lines. In the first row notice how the lines are rotated by 45 degrees in clockwise direction when going from picture 1 to picture 2, and then 90 degrees in clockwise direction when going from picture 1 to picture 2.
      In the second row we have the same 45 degree rotation going from picture 1 to picture 2.
      In the third row we have the same 90 degree rotation going from picture 2 to picture 3.
      Therefore it would fit the pattern when looking at the second row and going from picture 2 to the answer the lines should be rotated 90 degrees in clockwise direction which would lead to the lines pointing from top left to the bottom right as in answer B and C.
      I'm not sure how you ended up with answer A. Can you explain your thought process/confirm that the way I looked at the lines made more sense?

    Why did you not invert the lines in question 25 after roataing the "middle line" for 135°?

    • @PuzzlesAndSolutions
      @PuzzlesAndSolutions  Před 4 lety

      Because they are inverted through "the vertical axis". If a line is on the bottom and it is mirrored through the vertical axis: it remains on the bottom. The two answers had the options of having the small lines on top or on bottom, and after the rotation we knew that the small lines were on the bottom -> the answer with the lines on the bottom is correct -> answer B is correct.
      (Btw you could totally argue that: We cant know if there is an mirroring through "the horizontal axis" in the first picture; because the top and the bottom lines are mirror images of each other -> we cant conclude if answer B or D is correct.) Still answer B is provided by the simplest explanation.

    I feel like this part of iq tests are about how you are used to classifying and making careful judgments, which can be improved, especially q 32. you're grouping same lines and shapes (naming things, forms) together, then finding pattern to it, rather than by horizontal line alone; meaning the more you like analyzing and classification, the better iq score you can get.
    side note: this analyzation and classification is energized by awareness (especially having their own voice), and separating your emotion and logic. I feel like people who have high iq all have strong value and fearless in thinking.
    Although the ranges can vary by your biology, I feels like everyone's potential iq range is very big.
    meaning, people who do bad on iq tests can still be good in non analytical tasks.
    if we teach kids classifying and analyzing skills, then they'd have higher iq. For example, listing many similarities and differences of three animals with intricate words.
    maybe we can start teaching this method ground up to people with learning disabilities (low iq), and improve their functioning.
    and, although I dislike the definition of intelligence held by iq, it does improve lifestyle in this capitalist society.
    what I mean is, iq can be improved by teaching analyzing skills

      @@law1409 Oh, I think the questions of the test are a bit outdated. From people who I have spoken with who have taken the test, it seems like there is only ravens matrices. So Mensa Norway would be a more accurate representation of a real test (from what I have heard). Of course if you score high on this test, you have a high probability of scoring high on the Mensa Norway aswell...

      Don’t think it correlates very well with iq. The error variance is way to large. It just means you got a 33/33 on the test. If you want to know your iq just take a formal iq test.

But scoring 100% they say "145 or higher" since getting 100% doesn't mean you are the exact IQ that is given for no errors since it could theoretically be higher.
