- It doesn't get much more Miami than this... This is a 1930 Ford Model A, or at least it used to be one. These days it's a Rat Rod, with F1-inspired looks and about half a Honda S2000 underneath. Car enthusiast and tuner Ricky Boada has devoted himself to transforming an Instagram render into the real thing, mixing old Americana with a dash of JDM - what a recipe. Watch Rob Dahm tour around Miami in one of the wildest builds yet.

Thank you guys for the positive feedback on the car! It was a blast to shoot with Rob!
why not with engine Mustang 2.3L EcoBoost maybe? (it's same ford)
@@ontowiryo4952 because honda engine is better
@@ontowiryo4952 this fits like a glove. A tight one
what was on your T-shirt?
This is one of the coolest builds I've seen in a long while, thanks for sharing!
I build some sketchy things. But nothing that tickles all the senses like this. The amount of attention and thumbs ups it gets is incredible.
So rob, can you tell us what his shirt said? xD
The car could use a rotary engine. Move the weight more towards the center😏
Lol I still don't get why they hired you. Jk
Another great episode Rob! Thanks
Time to start working on your Indy car
Smiles per gallon in it's purest form. Looks like a blast even as a passenger. Rob fits the role extremely well.
I love how his voice changes as soon as he's in the car 😂giddy like a lil kid
I'm not gonna lie, Bringing Rob in to do these parts of the show is possibly the best thing that could happen to Top Gear. I've followed Rob for a few years and hope to see a lot more of this.
The best decision Top Gear brand managers ever made was to bring Rob Dahm aboard.
And Chris Harris
Agreed, rob is such a car guy in and out. Doesn’t even care about the camera which is why I love his content, kind of feel unedited and authentic
what decision was that?
Agreed, this segment is the best!
@@RicondaRacing the og trio
This is a full-scale Hot Wheels!
More like it is the car from Need For Speed 2015 and Need for Speed no limits
@@rbxviperyt9454 Tell em
Payback is where i first seen it and instantly fell in love wit it...alongside the Koenigsegg Regera 😍
@@bdz2152 Yeah it was in payback and yes it looked cool
@@rbxviperyt9454 Need for Speed: Payback
Hot Wheels would stick a real engine in it, not a junk ass honda eco-shit
This is one of my favourite cars so far! How cool is it that it"s registered and gets driven! Champion
Having grown up during the "backyard special racecar era" this kind of car has a special place in my mind/heart, Well done Sir TY 4 sharing
Rory Reid, Rob Dahm, Chris Harris is the new Top Gear series we need.
Rory was a horrible presenter and they don't want a "yank"
nope we need old top gear back
rory reid isnt my favorite
@@shaned1500 riley reid?
would be sick, although i must admit im starting to like the current 3
his shirt having to be blurred the whole time lmao
They didn’t blur his license plate.
@@voodoo7008 Because they don't need to... this car could be photographed by dozens of people every time its being driven.
That is the coolest look ever. I love how wide it is and just slammed with huge tyres thats awesome.
As a Honda guy and an affinity for older cars, this is just epic!Love it,and what better place then Miami.❤️👍🏾
Imagine if F1 existed back in the 1930’s and their cars looked like this.
They wouldnt, F1 was always open cockpit. It would be closer to open wheeler LMP car - it is some crazy 1930 combo of LMP1 and F1 and it is great
F1 did exist in the 30s and the cars were crazy. Mid engine, V12, supercharged, alumunim bodied missles.
@@ducbox572 Cars were all front engine until '58, when Stirling Moss won with a mid engined Cooper.
Just saw the "biggest F1 technical revolutions" video again yesterday
@@N-e0N Pre-WW2 Auto Union Grand Prix (precursor to Formula 1) cars were mid engine.
@@ducbox572 Looked it up, interesting stuff. 427kmph by a car made in the 1930's? Holy macnscheeseballs
Rat rods/ hot rods are DEFINITELY my all time favorite genre of American car culture. They are just plain COOL! And this thing is beautiful!!
Well done Rob, thanks for sharing !!!!
Just amazing, Ive seen pictures of this car before, but not a video, Its perfect, I dont think you could get any better than this.
Season 2 is a must! Please get:
Mike Stance Works K24 Ferrari

really love seeing the resurrection of TUNED from the drive channel come back to life here. Thanks topgear and thanks Rob for bringing back this type of content!
Massively miss TUNED, That and Chris Harris' vids were the best thing on the Drive channel back in the day. Kept up with Matt and the Smoking tire since but it's simply not the same. I understand why he stopped as driving someone else's frankenstein was sketchy to say the least but if it were done in a more controlled way, like what Top gear has been doing with these episodes featuring Rob that would be great.
I love shit like this. When an amalgamation of ideas are brought together with the best parts of multiple cars to create a unique ride. My brother built his own 1928 model A roadster and cruising in that brings you the best feeling ever, even if it's bare minimum and bone stock it brings a smile to everyone's face that sees it.
I am really enjoying this new, positive turn Top Gear have taken with American Tuned. We got decades worth of interesting, hand-built cars like Ricky Boada's '30 Model A, here in America. So, keep filming them, I'll keep watching!
Dear Top Gear,
We demand more content featuring Rob Dahm!
Ever since I saw this thing in Need for Speed 2015 I wondered what it was, i looked up its history, this thing has been through so many owners, configurations and engines, it's like a car going through an identity crisis
Soon as I saw the thumbnail I immediately thought the same
It's a 1930 Ford that wants to be an F1 car. It's the definition of a car with an identity crisis. It looks killer though!
Wow. Just, wow! Both of my favorite worlds collide into this flawless beauty. Thank you so so so much for sharing.
Menacing looking front end, awesome engineering and conceptualization, great job.
One of the slickest looking builds thus far. Makes me want to do build on a hot-rod of my own.
czcams.com/video/lN3jvRZMx_M/video.html
So sad that hot rods are dying off
i've been waiting for this car since i saw it in the trailer video
Same!
7:45 a G-wagon, a hotrod JDM weird F1 style thing and a Prius, what a lineup
For those that want to know. Beck customs F135 design, featured in need for speed 2015 as a driveable sim. Awesome render, awesome game addon, wicked real life interpretation. Again, much respect to this thing, its amazing!
I do admire the ambition and the authenticity behind the whole ratrod concept.
it seems the editors of this vid could've done with blurring out the guy's whole house as it would have been easier.
One of my all time favorite builds.
What a great series this is, amazing cars, great owners and perfect host. This F1 Ford, perfection! Gonna hop over to Rickies channel now
Awesome! Thanks for sharing that.
Another banger with Rob Dahm at the wheel
I love how original the build is, and just how raw the experience is. Another great episode 👏
czcams.com/video/lN3jvRZMx_M/video.html
It feels like it's heavily from need for speed payback with is being an F1 hotrod however, that doesn't mean anything considering that guy made it truly reality which is awesome.
The way it pans from the Vespa, to the Harley with its mini trailer, back to the Rat Rod @6:44 is just *_chef's kiss_*
Rob Dahm is the BEST presenter! his knowledge and love for cars is awesome.
This series is awesome the only thing that could make it better would be longer episodes
That car is so beautiful! How awesome is that design? The air scoop and wide stance just do it for me, Ricky needs to take this on the Hot Wheels Legends tour and win so we can own it in 1:64 scale.
Ricky Boada is the man! Good to see him get some recognition.
Glad to see this build again👌🏽
I remember playing around with the Beck Kustoms F132 in Need for Speed. It was such a fun car.
Someone actually did a F1 wheel glitch from GTA in real life. Amazing.
I remember seeing this thing at cars and coffee one day, and I was just amazed. The car community is so creative with the things they do, it’s awesome
I'd say calling this a rat rod is doing it a tremendous Disservice! I remember when the render was among some choice pieces that were like crazy video game ideas, though I'm so glad this was one of the two I've seen born out of that 'library' come to life.
Calling this a rat rod is also just plain wrong. Its a hot rod. Nothing beaten or worn about this beautiful beast. Which are trademarks of a rat rod.
@Reanu Keeves how do you figure?
@Reanu Keeves solid theory. No holes in that at all. Lol.
My favorite build ever. My greasy fingers are trembling at the thought of this thing. My goodness I'm at a loss of words to describe my want for this thing. Phenomenal
That’s awesome. Good work.
This thing is cool for sure !!! Love it
This is one of the coolest builds, because it is so far out of the box and pretty much one of one.
LOVE THIS SERIES!!!
Mad respect brother. I feel the same way you do down here in SOFLO when I take one of my custom builds out. Keep it up sick little ride 🤙💪👍 hopefully I see you at a meet one day
the grins on these dudes while driving the car....the car brings so much joy!!
the video editor who edited this film must have spent a ton of time trying to blur that T-shirt, which was about like half the video frames. It would have been a lot easier if they politely asked the guy to change into a different shirt that didn't have a giant brand name on it.
This gotta be one of the sickest hot rods in the world 🔥🔥
Antique Ford + F1 + Vtec = Suprisingly Beautiful
Great build!! Probably the most unique build I have ever seen.
I love this build, and I love the fact they have the rotary king as a host!
They should Rob Dom on top gear permanently
Amazing.
Continue guys. Thx
Love seeing Rob on Top Gear. Awesome lil video, awesome car.
Honestly I remember when Goomba originally built this car. Car was running and driving from what i remember when it was sold. Car looks like some stickers were added to it and dynamat but thats all i can see. I never saw this car in person but i did see his previous FR-S build in person and can say he didn't do anything sketchy or half ass so i'm really wondering what he means by undrivable.
Yeah doesn’t seem much different from when he bought it besides the color and maybe an addition of the turbo?
James drove this vehicle all the time. I don’t know why he felt the need to discredit that. I guess to just try and make it seem like he did more than slap some cash down for it.
@@adactic8285 his current project s2koma is pretty sick though. Watching the progress on that one.
@@epark5687 oh yeah. That car is gonna be so good
Ricky is a part of what makes car culture in Miami so great! We are proud to have him visit us at Cars and Coffee Miami no matter what he brings it’s always a great time!
That’s is probably one of the coolest mash up cars I have ever seen. Man that thing is amazing!
Your guy’s smiles said it all. Enjoyed the video.
sick ass build bro 100%
Very cool car. Could have watched a way longer vid. About that car. It definitely is cool !!
This is the cleanest build I have seen!
Man this is sick af. As a hotrod lover and honda/tuner lover it's awesome
A build like this is the quintessential thing about car culture that makes it so awesome. If you can dream it, and have the time, patients and resolve, you can make it a reality.
Open wheels always look siiiick!!!!
This is so cool! And the best drivetrain and engine for the job too! Well done you.
Awesome work men 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That's definitely a smiles per gallon ride. Hell yeah.
Model A with s2000. Can't help but smile and give a nod of approval
this is so sick actually. Bravo!
Nice, now I can get gapped by a Boneshaker not only on FH5 but also in real life, what a time to be alive.
This is exactly what Top Gear should be doing in the UK. Down to earth blokes who are genuine car enthusiasts, not some washed up chat show host and an ex England cricketer. I'd have Chris Harris and the lads from #CarThrottle over the current UK Top Gear hosts.
im so happy for Rob he got the spot in this show..
couldn't fit better
i love the extra mods you have on it..different from the plain like original design
the fin in the back gives it such style
This guy is so happy, nice to see!
rip editor has to remove his shirt graphhic lol

big black car
not what you thought 🙂
That is properly wicked, really inspirational!
Thanks for sharing.
I instantly recognized it as the beck custom from need for speed. Sure looks as hellacious as the game made it out to be. Massive props for making it real. Absolutely amazing!
Goomba James made this car into reality, I feel like he doesn't get the respect he deserves.
That's such a sick and clean ride.
Cool,nice work.
Would be 😎 to give it a removable roof, add to the og F1 effect
0 - Fatal Accident in 2 seconds
The car is incredible. Great job.
Awesome, love the look 😍
This is the coolest car on earth I would love to know his price
Looks so uncomfortable to be in 😅 other than that, sick build!
For anyone wondering about the background music at 0:23 I can tell you a song that sounds really similar to it is called "Do Gunna" by an Indian Rap Duo named Seedhe Maut which was produced by "Sez On the Beat".
Beautiful.. outstanding blend of old and new...
This is one of my most favorite cars I remember when I first seen on video years ago without the turbos and it was loud has hell.
That front suspension though...OOF. Not good.
that car gave me goosebumps. love it love love it. great build it's beautiful
One helluva sweet mashup. Love the way that thing is built
Only thing I am sad about is the fact that they couldnt figure out better driving position that squizing your head down. I can imagine it would have been impossible any other way but thats the only complaint I can have. Great build, looks great - Is this the car from NFS 2015 or the one in NFS was just inspired by this one?
good question, LOL
